Status [Chapter 2]

"So, uh, what is your name?"

I ask, the demon quickly looking to me.

"I'm honored that a demon lord would ask my name. I am Rugle, the Heat Scarred."

I laugh at his name slightly.

"That's a pretty neat name, so uh, are you like a boss? Or a mini-boss at least?"

I ask, Rugle seemingly blushing. He raises up, staring at me.

"You honor me, oh lord Gearmin. I am a very weak demon, so weak that this human I'm wearing managed to injure me."

His deep voice booming with happiness, clearly barely containing himself. I sigh and pat my pockets looking for my cigarettes.

So he's pretty weak, explains why he believed me I guess. And damn, I started looking for my cigarettes out of habit.

Suddenly I feel a box deep in my right pocket, along with keys and some plastic handle.

No way.

I pull out: my house keys, a pack of cigarettes, and a box cutter. I quickly jam my hand into my other pocket and find my lighter and old phone. I flip open the pack of cigs and see its full.

I had smoked half of this pack before I died.

I suddenly have a realization.

The reason I wasn't given gear like a standard Isekai, is because I was given the items I had on me in the real world. I wonder if it replenishes automatically or if they just gave me a new batch to last longer?

I quickly pull out a cig, then close and reopen the box. I smile at the sight of the box being full. Rugle sniffs the cigarette, quickly recoiling.

"That is highly toxic! Are you planning on killing someone? Is it a assassination?"

Rugle stares at me, watching me slowly light the cigarette and putting it in my mouth. I take a deep hit, and exhale the smoke. Eyes wide, mouth agape, Rugle stares on in awe.

"Y-you are immune to toxins!?"

He shouts as I smile nervously.

Well, no, just used to it.

I think to myself, before quickly speaking up.

"Of course! What pathetic Demon-King would not be immune to toxin and poison?"

I ask while looking at my unfolding box cutter. I rub my finger along the blade lightly and give myself a minor cut.

[Damage Taken.]

[Healing in Progress]

[Healing Complete]

I see the cut heal instantly.

"Hey, uh, Rugle? Tell me your stats."

I demand, staring into his eyes. He nods.

"Status."

I see, so this is like a game world. So my stats should be incredible, if I'm the main character. Status.

I open up my page and stare at my stats.

Name: Yu

Class: Master

Level: 1

HP: 55

Strength: 3

Dexterity: 4

Movement: 4

Constitution: 12

Magic: 8

Willpower: 10

Exp To Next Level: 2

Current Exp: 0

<1/1>

Rugle reads out his stats and I compare his to mine afterwards.

Name: Rugle

Class: Crusader

Level: 18

HP: 280

Strength: 19

Dexterity: 12

Movement: 9

Constitution: 15

Magic: 6

Willpower: 2

I feel my heart racing, but hide my panic behind a proud smile.

"Well, Rugle, one day your stats may be as high as mine."

Rugle nods and smile.

"I thank you for having faith in me."

I inspect my status page closer and notice several odd things. There's a page feature, as if possible to have multiple pages. I also see that I can tap on my attributes to find out what they do, but not my Class.

Out of curiosity I tap on them.

HP- Your health pool. This shows how much damage you can take before falling unconscious. After hitting zero, upon reaching negative HP equal to your Constitution score, you will die.

Strength- Increases physical abilities and damage done by 1 per point. Each point increases lift strength by 100 Pounds.

Dexterity- Increases bodily coordination and ability to control movement. Also increases the ability to pick locks and pockets.

Movement- The rate at which you move. Each 1 point is one kilometer per hour.

Constitution- The rate at which you gain HP and how long you will take to heal, or die. You gain HP equal to this score every level.

Magic- The strength of any magical spells or abilities is based off this score. The higher the score, the larger the scaling for your spells will be.

Willpower- The ability to resist fear or see through deceit. If your Willpower is lower than someone else's, you will be more keen to believe, or listen, to them.

I chuckle and shake my head.

So it's not that this demon is stupid, the system just favored me in this situation.

I hear clanking metal plates and heavy footsteps running towards us from down the alley. I look over my shoulder, taking another hit of my cig. 2 decently armored guards with short swords run from around the corner and see the demon's original body, still crushed under the piano.

The smoke from my cig fills the air upon a deep exhale. The guards stare in disbelief as the dead demon, Rugle clearly getting ready to attack.

I wave.

"I killed that demon. I don't like attacking, so I tricked it into attacking a rope behind me, dropping that piano on it."

I say proudly, Rugle gasping beside me.

"He outsmarted me in more ways than I originally thought."

Rugle mumbles, using a womans voice instead of his own. The guards slowly look to me, then at each other.

"Please come with us."

On guard says, demanding I follow him.

Shit, what did I do wrong? Or maybe they see through me? Either way, I need to play it cool.

I put my hands in my pockets, along with my items.

"To where?"

I ask, narrowing my vision. They watch me for a moment before I speak up again.

"Tell me now, where do you wish to take me?"

I demand, tilting my head back to look down on them. The guards quickly speak up, tripping each other over their own words. Eventually, they sort out who should talk to me.

The younger of the 2 guards steps forward, his short blond hair blowing in the gentle breeze. The smell of garbage in the alley filling our noses.

"I wish to take you to the captain of the guard. He would love to know about the demons weaknesses."

The guard says, his voice shaking and cracking upon the last few words. I stare at him for a moment.

"Weaknesses?"

I ask softly, the boy nodding wildly.

"If you killed one so easily, then, then you must be a hunter! Or at least someone who understands them inside and out!"

He shouts. I stand still for a moment trying to compose myself and get my thoughts lined up.

"Well, if you insist. But I won't share all of my info, could make my business difficult."

I reply calmly, Rugle sneering beside me.

"A-alright, right this way!"

The guards hurriedly attempt to show me the way.

This world is weird, I haven't had to lie so much since my interview for my old job.
