49 Aura Flare

"Wow. Why are the places here at the south look wonderful?"

"Well... it is after all, located near one of the major branches of the Merchants Guild."

From our height, we were able to see the general look of the next place we were travelling to.

It wasn't a stretch to call it a lake, but it's just that the town was in the middle of it.

"Aunt, how much long before we reach Kandria?"

"I'm not sure actually, I haven't been to that place before. Nor even fly. Sis estimated a year but we only took about a few weeks."

"Let's say we won't be seeing more places after this, should we stop over?"

"The place looks beautiful too."

"Let's stay for a while, Kaff."

"Please, Kaff?"

Why are these girls strangely attracted to this place? I can get that the scenery is more beautiful than the previous one we've been through but it wasn't that much better to be honest.

Looking closely, their eyes seem to be sparkling. Just in case this was an illusion, I gathered red light in my hands and tried to pour Origin on my eyes. Seeing through them, there was some kind of... aura.

Just to be sure, I quickly closed the gap with Three and gripped her head as I quickly poured Origin before she could react. I instantly bypassed her resistance from Origin as a spark slightly crackled before it went through her body.

"Let go of me---" She struggled for a bit before getting away, but after two seconds she became silent and closed her eyes as I continued pouring. I also set up a barrier which enclosed us in just in case someone hidden might attack.

Of course Aunt didn't react that much after all that which made this situation stranger, yet she didn't move from her place.

After a minute, I let go of Three and floated towards Aunt this time, which didn't struggle.

"What was that earlier?" Three still closed her eyes as she sat on the barrier.

"I'm not sure. But how are you feeling?"

"I didn't even notice when I got..."

"It's not mind control is it?"

"No, it's a different spell..

"Let go, I'm already good."

Aunt softly grasped my hand as she closed her eyes.

From the way they acted earlier, I could guess that they checked their inner white space if there were any problems.

As a god, she told us that the inner space is a reflection of a person. Most people have the same inner space but there's no vortex or whatsoever. It just expands a lot after a person that reached the master-level gets more stronger.

Her inner space was blank, but she could see how strong she is within that space. Within it, one could display their abilities as if practicing within the mind and body, but it usually also has a limit depending on Soul Control.

Since I have a different composition of my inner space, Yona told me that mine would be rather different compared to others, so it's useless to compare. My power levels are also different compared to the usual magic in this world, so she also suspected that I was from a different world, but discarded the thought instead.

I would admit it if she asked, but since she didn't ask me about it, then I could only keep it a secret for now.

"How are you feeling, Aunt?"

"I'm better now. Let's say even Masters are affected by that heart-affecting technique, I bet no one can leave that place once they set in."

As their demeanor returned to normal, I sighed lightly and didn't take the barrier off for now.

"We could only make a turn near the Trinity Mountain Range to avoid this place."

"But we were so close already!"

"If I remember the map, this place is called Acielod, but there were only vague descriptions of the place. Towards the east, we could reset our coordinates once we reach the foot of the mountain though. We can also go midway, but I can't judge the distance and time yet of how far we should travel so that we won't be trailing off towards Kandria."

"How much range does your Soul Control have, Kaff?"

"I could stretch it for only about a kilometer."

Aunt let out a sigh after thinking a bit.

"Do we have no choice?"

"How about we bring this barrier while flying? Will it affect us?" From her words, I finally had an idea. It was simple, really.

White light gathered on my hands as I gathered Origin and formed a construct before pointing it down below.

...

Since the lake might be deeper than a hundred meters, We decided to dig as deep as much as we could. We weren't in a rush so our pace was a bit slow, and we also had to fill the hole where we dug because innocent people might fall to their deaths.

I wanted to dig a tunnel that was formed like a rainbow underground, but since we didn't know how deep the lake was, Aunt suggested we dig further so we wouldn't collapse the lake from above. But Three said it was better if we went a curve towards the side instead, and with that, our plan was set.

We planned to form a slanting curve towards the other side, and it was also a good way for us to cover up our tunnel.

The first screw construct that I made back at Phione was a bit crude and it forced us to force the construct downwards as we dug, but now I made a different one.

I made a screw that almost looked like a coil, the center was solid, and the sides looked very much like a screw. The head end was pointed, and the tail end had an opening without a platform. This way, when the earth gets dug, it goes out of the end and the way that we go in would be also covered in the earth that we dug.

From my previous world, the only drill that I had experience in was the one used in wood and metal. Mostly the ones used in creating holes in the house to place things.

If I'm correct, the shape of the one I currently made was similar to an earth drill.

"Isn't that different from the one you used last time?" Three asked as she also made a screw construct similar to the one we made last time.

"Yeah. I think particular design makes our work easier."

This is the first time I'll be creating and actually using one, so I started with a slow rotation of about a thousand rotations per minute. Three also remodelled her construct then followed. Aunt made a translucent white barrier as we started descending under the earth.

First, soft brown soil flew everywhere as we drilled. Next were soil mixed with red-brownish rocks. Then after a while, the earth turned in a mixture of grey, brown, and black. It was unknown what we were digging through, but as long as diesel oil or water doesn't come out then we can continue.

"If Soul Origin and magical constructs are so versatile, why do few people make something from it?"

I just thought about it and since my constructs take long before they disperse, I asked them a question.

"I'm not even sure how your Origin works, but magic really isn't used in this way." Three replied as we slowly spun the white and golden earth drill side by side. Our spins were at different directions so that there would be less resistance.

"Let's just say that this kid is unorthodox."

"Look, Kaff. We use presets or spells because Soul Control doesn't really get stronger as time passes, and making constructs just to attack using Soul Control will give most people a massive headache. What your master did.....was just outright terrifying."

I could only make a bitter smile from her reply as we continued to dig.

Our descent gradually made progress, and from the bottle of water Aunt held on her hand, I can see that the angle we're going is correct. It was getting a bit shaky here though, and the excess earth that splashed on us made our new clothes dirty.

"Good thing I'm not doing the laundry this time." Three murmured, and I could slightly hear her.

"Don't you enjoy doing this? We always fly everyday and need a change of pace."

"Kaff's right. I enjoy watching you two working together." Aunt's tone was a bit stranger than usual and I could see her smiling widely from the back.

"What do you mean?" Three glanced at me before also turning to Aunt, then she faced downwards again as if nothing happened.

Ah. It's not an infatuation, is it?

I took a good look at Three and observed her whole body. Besides the dirt that sometimes splashed on our clothes, her now sharper eyes looked a bit cool. Her black hair that ended in a silver tip was magical. The dress she currently wore looked common, but if she was the one who wore it, it seemed like it would sell if displayed on a magazine.

Her hands that kept gathering light was enchanting, and I somewhat felt the urge to look at my own hands, which were still small.

"Stop staring. Concentrate." Her words brought me back to reality once more and I slightly tilted the drill as we made our way through underground.

"When is your birthday, Three?" I can't help but make a conversation since we'll be taking long before reaching the other end of our tunnel.

"It's... the same date as the day you came and crashed my wedding."

"Oof..." Aunt grunted as she spat what she was drinking to the side after hearing her words.

"Uh... Happy Birthday?"

"Forget it. I'm over that."

That's what she said, yet there was a slight change in her tone along with her head lowering down a bit. The next words that came from her was unexpected, though.

"It was enough that you came. Thank you, Kaff." She let go of her earth drill construct and dashed towards me, but before I could react, I could only feel her warm breath on my head as she enveloped me in her arms.

"Ohhhoooooo!?" I could hear Aunt on the side as she started to cheer or something, but from the weird onomatopeia sounds she's letting out, it showed how much she was jolly.

"I... I didn't want to marry that Weiss. He even tried to undress me once, but he wasn't stronger yet."

"What... did that fucker do? Undress you?"

"The next time he came, I always ran away, and hid on Father's study room. He didn't dare enter there so I was always cooped up, reading books."

There was a slight shiver from her body as she started to narrate things. From the way she described it, I bet that that's not only what happened.

"About a year later, he became a Master, and had the guts to go to Father's study. But I tried hard and secretly stole Origin Fruits and Dragon Blood from our secret storehouse... Sorn only warned me, but he never told anyone about it. One month after he became a Master, and from the consistent consumption of Origin Fruits and Dragon Blood..."

"Dragon Blood!?"

She let go of me after Aunt reacted to those words, and I could see her eyes slightly shaking, like there was still a lingering fear inside of her.

"...I also reached the Master-level. I didn't let him overwhelm me because I planned to escape during the wedding after the ceremony ended.

I also kept that fact, so that they wouldn't estimate how much I could do. But Father was very sharp, and he immediately knew that I became Master-level on the same day."

"Kaff?"

"Yes, Aunt?"

"Your aura is leaking."

Now that Aunt mentioned it, there was a white mist of light that started to slowly flare outwards from my body. It was also sparkling in some places that consisted in a rainbow light that looked like stars along the milky way.

I lost my temper, huh?

If only I was this strong when Dad was in danger.

If only I had been able to protect Kirllia...

Good thing that we reached Three in time or else, I'd have lost someone dear to me.

When did she start to become someone important?

I'm not very sure...

But the heart doesn't lie.
