48 Halfway to Kandria

Three was wearing a night gown which I had no idea where it came from, while Aunt was still using her old clothes.

The room was quite big, there were four more beds that totalled five all in here. The room was painted in dark red, and the light source was bright enough to light up the whole room that was almost seventy square meters.

"What a luxury place." I couldn't help but mutter as I made my first step in.

To the side there was a lavatory and what seemed to be a grill that had a cover on top, probably to collect the smoke that would rise from cooking stuff. In front of the lined beds were two large cabinets and another door.

Only the lack of television made this place still within this world, but there are three books on the desk nearby the nearest bed.

There weren't much things inside but since we're staying for today for now, this room would already suit our needs.

"Just in time, Kaff. Come, eat." She beckoned towards me as she stood and went to the door on my left.

She opened it and there was a large tub inside which was probably made of marble, and there was already water on it. The steam that scattered inside indicated that the room and water was probably warm.

"No peeking, okay?"

Not sure if our room was private enough, I still erected a barrier in front of the exit before going to the bed where they were eating.

"This one's good. This one too. I hate this one, though."

Three kept pointing at each bowl as she defined how the taste was.

I only realized that her hair was still slightly wet as she laid on her side as she picked up from the bowl of snacks at her belly.

"Do you know that you'll get fat from eating too much?"

"Doesn't matter. I eat like this everyday yet I'm not getting fat."

"Same here."

"You mean you've ate a lot before?"

Crap. I meant that from my previous world where I bought lots of snacks and ate as I binged on anime and movies.

"No, I've seen a cow fatten up like that from my Gramps' farm."

"Are you telling me I'm a cow!?"

"No, no---!"

She threw me the nearest pillow and then came the fight.

I dodged the incoming projectile to the side at the same time as I took a bowl of snacks.

"Hey! No cheating!"

"When did dodging became cheating?"

I threw her back the pillow that she aimed at me and hit her squarely at the face.

"Heh. Heheh."

The pillow slowly slid down and showed her grumpy look.

"You started this...!"

"No, you did!"

With that, she turned serious and took the other pillows from the other three beds in the room and held two on her armpit, and the other ready to be thrown.

Her wrist blurred before I caught a pillow on my face that made me stagger back a bit. That impact was probably enough to make an ordinary child fly, but since my body is somehow compsed of Origin now, I'm not easily flung away.

That throw was surely strong though.

With that I released Soul Control for a few feet only to detect another one incoming towards my face, so I tilted my body to the side and dodged it.

"No dodging! Cheater!"

"What cheat! Why do you have so much ammo? That's cheating!"

I picked up the pillow that dropped from hitting my face and threw it towards another incoming pillow.

"There. That's more like it!"

Both pillows hit each other and the sounds of fabric made a loud thump as it hit each other. After the two pillows dropped down I saw one more incoming as if she had already predicted how would the pillow impact each other.

"Damned physics." I dodged one only to find out another to the side, hidden with this pillow.

A pillow behind a pillow!

I'll just let myself get hit by this brilliant tactic.

*poof*

And with that my head was forced to turn upwards from the momentum of the pillow, and I let out a sigh.

"You're surrendering already?" I heard Three nearby along with the sounds of munching.

"Yep. You win."

I picked up all the pillows that were thrown during the fight, and brought each one to a bed.

"Why are you so stuck-up? Since small you've been always serious. What child wants to learn Gemmatria? What child doesn't want to play? You're really... strange."

With her question, I climbed the bed and pulled her shoulder.

"I'm actually five thousand years old."

"Pfff----" She spat out the juicy jerky she's been munching and over half of those scattered throughout my body. She was stunned for a while before she started to joyfully laugh.

After a while did she only stop, and once more chewed on the bowl of jerky she held on her belly.

"Go take a bath."

I took a jerky from her bowl and munched on it too.

"After Aunt's done."

...

The next day we sold a few more fly swatters and had about a few thousand silver coins. It wasn't enough to make us rich but it was enough to trade for things we need during our travels.

We spent another night on the Red Tree before finally leaving the next day.

Three bought a bracelet with a dark green and oval stone attached to it. She said it was some kind of item storage, so it was similar to one of the necklaces I had. Aunt also bought one for convenience, so that we wouldn't have to bring any more bags. They also got one for me but I prefer using this small leather bag for my origin constructs as I could feel them here and feel more assured.

From the novels that I've read, this seems like a space inventory storage.

Finally!

I only kept the least used things inside mine though.

Three didn't wear the clothes that I gave her so I was confused and couldn't help but ask.

"Did I buy you the wrong size?"

She thought about something for a moment, then her face slightly blushed.

"Nope, you got it right. The larger ones will be for when I grow later... Thanks, Kaff."

"But... why aren't you wearing them? Don't you like the design?"

"They're special because you bought them. Okay!?"

With that she left the room with heavy yet fast steps.

"Kaff, you womanizer." Aunt went out and I could hear them talking outside the door.

Ugh.

I also went out and we made our way towards outside the town.

On the way towards the exit, I heavily inhaled one last time to remember this place's air.....why does it stink?

"Sorry, I didn't mean to."

A guy on the side of the archway of the town's open gates was standing to the side, and he was scratching his butt. I didn't even notice him on our way and he just suddenly popped up like this with a grand entrance.

I covered my nose from the stench as I walked near him.

"It's you!"

"Do you still have those other two fly swatters?"

I took the two other white and purplish fly swatters before handing them over to his hand.

"Today, I'm selling them for three hundred silver coins."

"The demand got that high overnight?"

"Who's this guy, Kaff?"

Aunt finally came near me, and asked as she held my shoulder.

"Let me introduce myself, miss. My name is Ron for short. I hope we could become acquaintances in the meantime." I was just about to drop off the fly swatters on his hand, but he suddenly disappeared and... bowed in front of Aunt.

As usual, her beauty is really like a magnet whenever. She attracted a lot of attention selling things yesterday, but she beat up every guy that went over to ask her out, diminishing the other surrounding men's morale.

"Oi. Do you want to get beaten up?" I was getting agitated at the moment since Sharl... I meant, Aunt, was approached suddenly.

Is this really jealousy I'm feeling?

"Be nice, Kaff. It's the first time I've met a guy who actually finely approached me." She studied my buyer, Ron, from top to bottom before she introduced herself. "I'm Arc. Nice to meet...your other hand."

Aunt managed to avoid his hand that scratched his butt and shook hands. Three on the side was silent and she walked near me.

"They really sell, huh? These things look familiar for some reason."

"Like a spatula, right?"

"Oh, yeah."

Ever since I've shown her the fly swatters to be sold, she kept looking at it for some unknown reason.

"I'd like to accompany you but we have to go for now."

I've heard Aunt tell off the other men at Illa like this, which means she doesn't like Ron.

"P-Please, accept this before you go."

He handed over a pouch that probably contained a lot of gold coins from the sound it made, and it made my arm and back hairs stand in goosebumps.

"No need. Let's go!"

She stepped forward yet Ron didn't letup and continued to pester her.

"At least tell me what kind of guy do you like!"

Aunt stopped for a moment before putting her hand on her chin.

"Someone silent yet caring. Someone that will devote his time only for his loved one. Preferrably taller than me, yet not too tall. I also hate bulging muscles, and most of all I hate perverts. If he can sing me a lullaby every night then that would be great, too."

With that, Ron dropped to his knees but I felt that some kind of determination was planted on the way his eyes looked as he glanced back at our direction.

"How about a rich guy!?" He asked loudly from the distance, and Aunt didn't react anymore as we crossed the bridge.

"Dike's Recluse. Our stay felt long but it was only actually two nights, eh?"

"Can we fly now? My legs are feeling sore from all the walking yesterday." Three grumbled and wisps of golden light were already starting to gather on her lower body.

"I guess we could?" Aunt agreed after seeing that there were not much people around.

The house on the distance where we met the Old Man Garner made me a bit weary though, but it doesn't look like he's harmful so I didn't mind if we started to fly now.

"If only I didn't have this orb of light then..."

"Don't say that! You are you. You're fully human, just like the rest of us!"

"Also, some humans are even more demonic than demons, so don't worry."

From their words, I didn't hesitate anymore and flew up the skies and headed south with them.

Once the town became as small as my balled fist, we sped up our flight.

The place was so remote that I couldn't even see Phione from here if I looked towards the north. The lake that connected to the mountain really did link with the Trinity Mountain Range though, and the familiar mountain ice caps looked a bit greener than the one in the north.

As we went towards the south and finally found a place that seemed familiar from one of the books I've read before, I can now determine that we're about halfway towards Kandria.

We continued our flight during the day, and rested when night came. Along with acquiring some food we can get from the wild, our journey continued for over ten days. The scenery changed from a green field of trees into a sandy and rocky region before seeing another slightly larger town than Dike's Recluse.

Since we're near Kandria from the speed of our travel, we decided to stop over for now, landing on the nearest obscure location to avoid detection, before walking on the ground as we traversed the rocky path.

Getting closer to where Mom is, and knowing that she's...married to another guy, I'm not sure if I should call that other guy 'father' since I harbor ill intentions and don't really consider him one.

Dad... Meltor Eric is my only father in this world, and will be.

I could only hope that Mom wasn't brainwashed or something when I see her.
