Jungkook's POV

I ran through the forest as fast as I can, ignoring small animals I pass bow to me. It's nice being an alpha and getting them to respect you but unfair when it comes to who is stronger. Hwang has always been intimidating. I wonder why he was chosen to be stronger among all Alphas. Why is he so special?

I feel myself slowing down as I come to a stop and glare at a bush.

Jk, what you doing? I asked my wolf in confuse.

You've been starving me a lot, human. I can't control myself anymore, he replied with a growl as I saw the bush moving a little. A white rabbit hopped out with its back turned to us, oblivious to its fate as my wolf took over and pranced at the prey, devouring it.

I closed my eyes tightly, waiting for this disturbing event to be over with, until I smelled something very familiar. Apart from the smell of the blood on my teeth and paws, there was a slight gush of smell that indicated anger. It smelled like.... Hwang? He's looking for us?

Jk, we need to go! I said quickly, heart pounding in my ears. He's after us! He's powerful and he can smell us here!

Not as powerful as us, JK said before continuing the run.

I couldn't help but sense more than one familiar odour that got fainter and fainter the more we neared the field outside the forest.

I ran through the field, moonlight lighting up my way. Finally reaching my small house in the gloomy street, I unlocked the door, getting inside and closing it behind me letting out a sigh of relief. I went over to the kitchen, mentally praising myself for keeping my phone back home.

I remembered texting Taehyung before leaving, and letting my phone charge after cussing about it being low on battery. I opened the chat, swiping on Taehyung's and typing a message.

I'm sorry, but could we start over as good friends this time?

I sighed as I placed my phone away, looking at the time showing 2:30am. It was a long day. I have to go to bed.

"Hey, Jungk," my old maid came over to me, placing her hand on my chest. "What took you so long?"

"Eww, don't call me that!" I backed away, proceeding to leave the kitchen.

"Isn't that your name?" She chuckled, following me. "Do you want me to make you something to eat?"

"Please, Maria, it's 2 am for fuck's sake!" I walked into my bedroom and closed the door behind me, ignoring the grumbling sounds from my stomach. I'll sneak out later after the bitch has gone away.

I spent two hours, tossing and turning on my bed. I threw my blanket across the room in frustration. Ugh! I hate this! Just allow me to sleep, you freakin' sleep-paralysis! I got to my feet, looking at how the otherwise dark room glowed in red; probably from my eyes. I sighed for the umpteenth time making my way to the door and opening it to poke my head out to see if the cast is clear.

"There you are!" I heard Maria from the kitchen and sighed. Doesn't this bitch know what sleep is? "I knew you would come so I made you this." She said walking out of the kitchen holding a plate of what appeared to be sandwiches.

Without a word, I grabbed it from her, making one of the sandwiches to fall before turning around and closing the door again.

"More food for me," I heard her say behind the door as I plopped onto the bed, digging into the tuna sandwich. Wait... I'm vegan! At this point, I don't really care anymore, I'm sorry, fishy. That bitch knew I was vegan, how dare she do this to me! Why did I even—

Skin by Colby Brock played out loud, interrupting my thoughts before I reached over and looked at my phone screen. Hwang? Oh, shit. I declined the call only for it to ring again. Then I put it on silent and continued my night peacefully.

I woke up the next day, running to the bathroom to shower. I walked out of the bathroom to take a look at my phone which made me almost choke on my toothbrush. Fifty-six missed calls from Hwang and one from Yoongi? Didn't they have anything better to do during the night? Man, their lives must suck.

I heard knocking at the door and Maria's voice that followed, "Jungk, I made you breakfast!"

I opened the door making her stumble forwards onto me. She looked up innocently, her eyes locking with mine. I rolled my eyes at her and pushed her away. "What was that?"

"Breakfast," she quickly said, blushing. "Breakfast is on the table for you."

I walked over to the table to find steak and some fries. "Maria, I don't even think I'm vegan ever since you came to live here. This makes me regret my decision," I pointed at the food in distaste.

She chuckled. "Oh, come on, Jungk, just a little meat won't harm your leafy body!"

"I don't like hurting animals," I said hearing JK chuckle. I sighed. My life can be really concerning sometimes.

I saw my phone screen light up on the table and I grabbed it to see Namjoon's name flashing on the screen. I turned off the silent mode causing the ringtone to blast making Maria jump. I quickly answered it, winking at her.

"Jungkook, you're home?" Namjoon's panicked voice erupted from the other end. "Tell me you're safe!"

"Yeah, yeah," I rolled my eyes. "How about you?"

"I did reach home safely, but there's a problem here," he said, voice wavering. "Hwang kept knocking on my door repeatedly moments ago and he even tried to take the door down in his wolf form. Jungkook, I'm really scared. I don't think it's safe to live here since he knows where I live."

"Just consider yourself stronger than him, hyung. He tries to scare us by intimidation," I said, chewing on the rubbery steak while glaring at Maria.

"What should I do? Fight him off?"

"No, just ignore him and protect yourself. And if you fail to do so, you'll be able fight him. For god's sake, stop behaving like an Omega." This was more to myself than to him. We just have to convince yourselves that we're stronger.

"Oh... alright," he replied, hesitation laced in his voice, before hanging up. As soon as the call ended, I saw a text from dad asking me to come over for dinner.

It was soon night time and I was already pulling over to my parent's driveway overlooking their luxurious mansion. One of their securities opened the door for me taking me by surprise.

"Welcome back," he said in monotone before stepping away to let me get out. I looked over at the double doors that swung open and mum emerging wearing an expensive red dress. The lights attached to the front walls of the mansion making her look like a goddess. So much for being in charge of the pack.

"Jungkook," she said, gliding down the marble stairs smoothly. "So glad you're here."

I rolled my eyes, looking away from her. They threw me into an orphanage when I was seven because I was 'different' from the other children and they didn't want that ruining their good reputation.

I was never adopted by anyone again because 'my aura repels people' according to the woman in the orphanage. So when I turned 18, I was kicked out of there and a kind man gave me a job at Beachwood cafe, where I met Hyunjin.

"Aren't you gonna come inside?" She asked, placing her gloved hands dramatically on her chest.

I followed her up the stairs trying to keep up with her fake story of how sad she was when she decided I wasn't going to show up. Upon entering the massive dining room, I saw dad seated at the far end, his face hidden behind a newspaper.

"Looks like there's more trouble than I thought, everything's just adding up and—" his eyes finally fell on me, mouth still open. "Jungkook! I didn't know you would turn up! It's been months!"

I sat across from him at the other end of the table, avoiding eye contact with anyone, as mum sat beside dad.

"Why are you seated so far from us, son, come on over here," dad said before raising his newspaper again.

I banged my fist on the table, making them look at me with furrowed brows. I had enough of their fake kindness. "You- You left me! You left me at that stupid orphanage and now you constantly want to see me? You freakin disowned me!" I said with gritted teeth.

After a moment of silence, mum spoke, "We expected that. That's what you always remind us every time you visit." She sighed, shaking her head at dad. She was right. I can never not bring it up until I've got answers to my past.

"The past is in the past, son, just forget it," dad said suddenly, reading my thoughts.

I tried to control my breathing, looking away from the maid that placed a few dishes in front of me. "I can't. I can't forget the past that easily. Why did you even abandon me in the first place? What did I do to deserve that?"

"Because you're different! You gave so much negative energy that we even considered giving you an exorcism," mum replied nonchalantly, digging into her salad.

"What are you even talking about? How am I different?"

"Jungkook, please stop talking and eat. Your food's getting cold."

I got up from the table, making my dish of salad topple over, ready argue some more before the doors opened and a guard came in.

"Sir Jeon, there's someone from the Got7 pack here to see you," he said with a bow.

"Bring them in," dad said, pressing a napkin on his mouth before asking the maid to take his unfinished food away

The guard ran out and came back again moments later with a blonde little boy who looked afraid. The guard bowed before leaving the room.

"You're from Got7?" my dad asked, turning to face him and gesturing him to take a seat.

"Y-Yes, sir," he struggled pulling the chair out making the maid to rush over to help him. Aww, such a small bean! What am I saying? I'm supposed to be cool!

"What brings you here?"

"I c-came to see a f-friend," he played with the hem on his shirt, slowly looking up at me and gulping. I grabbed a spoon to check my reflection quickly. What's so scary about me? "H-He just moved h-here. I don't know h-how to f-find him b-because... he isn't a-answering his p-phone."

"I see..." dad said slowly, taking out his own phone and tapping on the screen vigorously. "What's his full name?"

"Kim Taehyung," he replied making me skip a beat. This is Taehyung's friend?

"Kim Taehyung.... yes, he does live in this city..." dad said eventually. "Good luck finding him." He placed his phone face down on the table, faking a smile at the boy.

"S-So... you don't know w-where he l-lives?" he started playing with the hem of his shirt more vigorously. He looked very nervous.

"I do. But I can't disclose personal information, child," dad replied, standing up to leave. He snapped his fingers at the guards and pointed to the boy gesturing them to take him out.

"Sir! Sir! Please! He's my friend!" He yelled on the verge of tears. "I want to see him so bad!" the guards hauled him out of the room and very soon everyone got up to leave.

I made sure to follow the boy outside and saw him walking away past the old fountain. "Hey!" I called out making him turn around with wide eyes. I jogged my way towards him.

"Are you really Taehyung's friend?" I asked, making him relax a little. I sat at the edge of the fountain, him mirroring.

"Yes, Sir. I'm here to visit him," he said making me blush.

"You can call me Jeongguk," I replied making him look at me curiously.

"Are you really the son of Alpha Jeon?" he asked gulping to which I nodded. "Are you g-gonna hurt me?"

"What? No! I would never!" I chuckled making him smile a little.

"How do you know Taehyung?"

"We go to school together." Yikes, there's school tomorrow.

"Oh... maybe you were the nice guy he was taking about," he said making me blush again. Nice guy? Funny Taehyung thinks that.

"So he did mention me?" I asked, smiling as looked up at the moon to avoid looking into his gleaming grey eyes.

"I don't really know who he was referring to but he mentioned the guy being scary and nice at the same time and you kinda match that description."

Scary? "Am I really scary?"

"Kinda. You give off this weird aura that makes me feel fear all of a sudden," the boy said.

I looked at him surprised. But all I see is the ordinary me in my reflections, I'm really confused. "You don't have to fear me, I won't ever harm anyone who isn't a threat.... umm—"

"—Jimin. I'm Park Jimin." He smiled. "Glad to know you're not that bad alpha everyone's talking about."

"Am I missing out on something?" I raised a brow at him.

"There's this story of a true blood alpha that lives here, holding his victims in an abandoned building and torturing them."

My blood ran cold. True blood alpha? Is Hwang a true blood? "But I thought there wasn't an true blood in centuries," I said.

"Me too. This could just be a legend or a rumour," he sighed. "But I can feel something isn't right especially when Taehyung never texted me after he told me about... you."

"He hasn't?" I took out my phone, swiping on Taehyung's chat to see that he hasn't replied to me yet. Oh, no. Did he reach home safely after the escape? My heart began to race as I got to my feet, thinking of what to do.

"What's wrong?" He stood up, looking at me in concern.

"It's just that... he hasn't replied to me too," I half lied. "Maybe we should pay him a visit and make sure he's okay."

"And that's why I'm here. But how do we find out where he lives?" Jimin sighed.

"My father," I replied quickly. "I need to sneak into his room and grab his phone. It has all the information about everyone in town. Then we can find where Taehyung lives."

"Do you think that's a good idea? What if we get caught?"

"I won't. You stay right here. I'll be right back," I turned around and sprinted towards the mansion leaving Jimin behind.

I walked into the hallway, catching my sister tuck her phone behind the cushion quickly.

"Hey, bro. What's up?" She smiled nervously.

I rolled my eyes at her without a word, continuing to walk towards that one corridor Lisa and I aren't allowed to be caught dead on — The corridor that led to father's office. Upon reaching the door proudly displaying his carved name, I swung the door open in full speed to see father sitting at his desk.

He turned to look at me in disbelief.

"Jung—"

"Father," I cut him off. "I need something from you."

He turned his chair around to face me, a crease showing between his brows. "First of all, you're not allowed to be here. And you need to knock before opening the door. You know what?"

I raised a brow, totally unfazed.

"Whatever you need right now, I'm not giving it to you." He turned himself around to his desk again, visibly fuming in anger as he turned the pages of his book.

I smirked. "What I want right now is... I want you to look at me for a while."

"Nope!" He turned the page of his book again, looking at it with concentration while I eyed his phone at the foot of his couch. "Not falling for that one." He turned the other way so his back was facing me.

I smirked wider as I grabbed his phone in a split second, slipping it into my jean pocket. "If you say so." I turned around to leave and closed the door behind me with him being silent the whole time.

I walked past the hallway, catching Lisa hide her phone again, and outside the mansion to see Jimin speaking to one of the maids.

"Ready?" They turned to acknowledge me as I held up father's phone with an evil smirk.
