A Man With a Funny Hat

I stare at the boat in the middle of town.

“How is that boat flying?” I said to Ralf.

“That is a ship,” says Mama. She forms ice on her hands, “Ships aren’t supposed to fly.”

Ralf grabs Mama’s hands, “Wait. Let’s see if they are friendly.”

A plank comes out of the ship. A man with a funny-looking hat comes out with his hands up.

Ralf releases Mama’s hands as she says, “If they do anything funny I’m blasting them.”

Ralf agrees, “Who’s going to meet them?”

Queen Ann steps up, “I’ll represent all four kingdoms since I am the last Royalty of all four kingdoms.”

“I’ll be your escort,” says Rose.

Queen Ann nods.

They both walk to the front of the plank.

“Greetings,” says Queen Ann. “I’m the Queen of Lewith.”

The man with the funny-looking hat bows, “My name is Jack and I’m the Captain of this ship. My crew and I have been able to rescue survivors in the kingdom of Comid and request to have them stay here.”
