Chapter 2: How Things Change part 2
Days after Aria had come she started talking with John and Alex more and more. She liked John's personality a lot. Alex began to view her from a different perspective, realizing that she was probably attracted to the same thing that had made him friends with him. Honestly, John didn't like the attention Aria brought and he eventually gave up on making her go away.
"Hey, let's do something after school today," Aria said with a huge grin. John looked at her with an uncaring look.
"Why?" Aria was at a loss for words. John was so blunt she didn't hate it though.
"I guess we can hang out, let's go to John's place." Alex had started to like Aria so he helped her out a tad. The truth is Alex just wanted to play some type of matchmaker between the two. John rolled his eyes. Aria's biggest smile made Alex smile as John said "I don't care what you say as long as I can see the notes,". Some of the guys who saw it in the classroom had their eyes glued when she did. They quickly left once school was over. Alex, Aria, and John left for his house. They arrived without speaking much except for Alex who teased Aria who seemed nervous.
" Wow, this is your house." Aria was shocked and her jaw dropped. It was a huge white house. It was a mansion. It had a giant pool in the back with a hot tub and everything. The glass alone for the house looked like it could be more than her house. Alex shrugged he had seen it before.
"Well, are you coming in or not?" John said, walking in. Alex followed after him while Aria walked in a daze like she had lost someone.
"Mom! Are you here!" They all took off their shoes and sat on the lavish couch in the living room. No one was there so they decided to chill there.
"How do your parents afford such a large house?" Aria had asked. Alex wondered, although he never asked when he came over.
" My dad is a scientist. He never says what kind of things he works on because he works with the government so it's classified. "My mom is a doctor." Aria wasn't shocked this was about what she expected except his dad sounded super badass.
"Wow, that's dope as fuck." This was the first time Alex heard her curse. He was honestly shocked. John wasn't, at least he didn't look like it. They talked for a long time, exchanging stories with each other about their lives. 'It was honestly pleasant to talk with them.' John thought to himself. Soon the door to his house was open. John was shocked to see his father come in. His father was 6 ft with dirty blonde hair. His eyes had dark circles around them like he never slept. He would be a decent-looking guy if he got some sleep and did something with his hair since it looked like he didn't take too much care of it.
"What are you doing here?" John asked his father. Although it didn't sound polite there was some fear mixed in John's voice that Aria and Alex noticed.
"Mind your business, John. It'd be more helpful if you did your schoolwork than letting these people into my house." Aria and Alex thought his dad sounded like a straight-up asshole.
"I did. I also finished what you told me to look into. They can't see us now that I have the loop on." John said it confused everyone except his father and him. John's father sighed deeply and his personality did a 180-degree turn.
"Thank you, son. So these are your friends. Introduce me to them before I have to go." His father sounded so cheerful, different from how he acted a second ago. John introduced them to his father. They all chatted for a while before his father left. Alex and Aria asked him what had happened over and over but John said nothing. In truth, John's dad instructed him to hack into the lab where his dad works and put the cameras on a loop. He had no idea why but his dad was worried about something. He didn't ask, he just did it. When his dad came and acted like that he knew something was up and that scared him a bit. Although John had faith in his computer skills. In the past, he use to get in trouble with the authorities because of it. He still wondered why his father was acting weird until he said what he said. John and his friends chatted some more before they left and headed home. John was there wondering why his dad was like that. It brought concern. He quickly fell asleep on the couch.
He woke up on the couch and it was morning already. John quickly ran upstairs to get ready for school. John finished and stepped out the door where he saw both Aria and Alex there.
"What are you two doing here?" John asked as he threw his backpack on.
"Come, let's go to school together. I thought it would be more fun than being by myself." In truth, Aria wanted to be with John alone. Alex was already there though. Alex always walked with John whenever he didn't sleep in. John shrugged and he started walking with the two of them. They got halfway to school when there was a loud boom in the sky.
"Is it going to rain or something?" Alex asked.
"That's not thunder that sounded like a bomb," Aria said, turning to John. John just pointed up to the sky. His friends both looked. The shocking sight brought fear to their hearts. The sun turned green and was quickly turning dark. The black sun blanketed the world in shadows like it was night. Then the sun turned completely black. All 3 of them stood there looking in shock. Suddenly, a shockwave boomed from the sky and all three of them passed out.
