Alpha Queen's Rebellion

“S-slow down,” she whined as Rowan mouthed at her neck, teeth scraping against her skin and making her shiver with want. “Sorry—you’re just so—” He breathed raggedly. “I’m so f*cking gone right now. Chapter 16 : The Man Who Wears the Crown?

Rowan wasn’t exactly eager to return home. A part of him was dreading it.

It was funny, actually—it wasn’t until he met his mate that he ever disliked his home or his life. He had always thought of it as a duty—his duty as the crown prince—to learn how to rule and one day take over for his father. In a way, he’d been honored.

But now that honor felt a bit more like a burden with the things Scarlett had told him.

He hadn’t wanted to believe her, and a part of him still didn’t—but Rowan wouldn’t have gotten so far in court if he wasn’t quick on the uptake.

The things she showed him… It all felt so wrong. All the things he’d done, tried to do, did they really mean nothing? They’d all amounted to nothing?

He wanted to demand answers, but now wasn’t the right time. And going up to people and shaking them by the shoulders till all their secrets fell out would just make him enemies, which could lose him future chances to do good.
