Meet Corban

 Corban's POV

Jotham has to be the least organized person I know. If he wasn't my older brother, I'll hit him upside the head sometimes.

I was already halfway through the movie when I got his text to meet at a restaurant in an hour. Before that, I had plans to watch my movie and go to bed.

Meanwhile, the lady beside me expressed her thoughts for the umpteenth time, "Booooo."

She hasn't stopped booing since the movie started rolling. I wasn't interested in the movie either, but her constant chatter was starting to get under my pale skin.

I was sitting by her left-hand side, and the person on her right tried shutting her up, "Shut up! ". Also for the umpteenth time.

It's because of reasons like this I don't like coming to the movies. I made an exception today because this particular movie has been getting so much hype. It wasn't even fairly good in my opinion.

"This is so unrealistic." Chatter lady couldn't stop chattering. It was surprising that no other person asides from the person she came with has tried to shut her up.

"Shut up."

Leaning into the seat, "Sigh." She sighed and said sigh, while crossing her arms. I couldn't tell if she pouted, because the lights were dimmed.

The movie became the least of my concerns, as I was more interested in looking at her. The way her brows creased when a kissing scene popped up, the way she squinted at the screen, scrunching her nose.

I was basically studying her at this point, which is why I knew when she took my popcorn and started munching.

Involuntary actions can't be controlled and are quite unexpected, but today she made eating my popcorn look involuntary. I would have said she did it on purpose but not once did she spare me a glance. Bite after bite, my popcorn kept reducing in size.

As the credits were rolling on the screen, the theater lights came back on, and I used the opportunity to look at the face of my popcorn thief properly.

She was dressed casually in a plain white t-shirt and a pair of jeans. Her black hair was pulled into a messy bun, and no makeup whatsoever.

She stood up with the two other ladies. The one shutting her up, and another one with ginger hair.

A mischievous grin spread across my face. She isn't going out without knowing what happened to my popcorn.

So, I tugged at the arm of her shirt, "Ummm...you already ate most of my popcorn anyways. You might as well take the rest."

It took everything inside of me not to laugh at her face, as she was dying from mortification. Widening her eyes, her hand completely covered her mouth.

I only wanted to be petty and pay her back for disturbing me throughout the entire movie. But this.....-watching her die from embarrassment, was worth it.

Much to my shock, she suddenly starts to choke back tears.

"OMG" It was followed by sniffles and a tear roll, "I'm so sorry."

Without waiting to hear anything else, I walked away from the theater room. Not because I was a snob or anything, I just couldn't bear to watch her cry. It seemed so uncalled for that I didn't know how to react.

What was I supposed to do? I don't know. So I chickened out and just walked out of the theater, not once looking back. Even the rest of the popcorn was long abandoned now.

Back to my reality, I was expected to meet with Jotham in about thirty minutes, but I was rooted in the parking lot.

Jotham cannot be punctual to save his life. I would wait a while before telling my driver to head to the restaurant.

Some people walked to the side of my car, having a conversation. They couldn't see me because of the tinted windows, but I could get a clear view of their faces. The window by the driver's seat was rolled down, so I could hear their voices.

"This is why I don't go out with you, Makena." Said a lady I recognized from the movie. She was the one telling the popcorn thief {I eventually figured that she was Makena} to shut up.

Makena facepalmed, cringing, "Ahh." Poor Makena.

"It's just popcorn." A third person spoke, shrugging with indifference. They looked alike, but she had ginger hair while Makena's hair was black.

"Pfft."

"You guys are horrible people."Makena pointed an accusing finger at the ginger-haired and, "You threw me under the bus!!!!" At this point, the smoke of fury was already coming out of her head. Figuratively of course.

"What?" It wasn't the ginger who talked next, "We didn't want him to think that we are as weird as you are. Don't blame us."

"I want to crawl into a hole and never come back." Even with her brown skin, her cheeks were pink from blushing. Makena must be blushing so hard.

"Hold up." The shutter asked out of the blue, "You ate eat his popcorn?" As if the entire situation just dawned on her.

"Honestly, I was so engrossed in the movie. I didn't know I was eating his popcorn." Makena's shoulders slumped as she continued, "I wish I can explain everything to him. I feel so cheap."

I wonder why she was beating herself up. It didn't matter much to me. Although, walking out must have portrayed something else.

"Tsk Tsk. Don't feel so bad, he doesn't seem upset or anything."

I almost wanted to scream "Yes!!!!". But, I think it's uncouth to eavesdrop.

Makena refused to listen, "Imagine a stranger eating your popcorn at the movies...." I could even hear her fake cry, all the way from the comfort of my car seat.

"You didn't mean it." The ginger {Cory} said.

I will later find out that her name is Corianne, but they fondly called her Cory.

"Well... This wouldn't be the most embarrassing thing you've done."

"No. But this could easily take the trophy." Makena had a thoughtful expression, "I can't think of anything worse."

The third person added, "This would be funnier if she meets him later on. Somewhere important." She appeared to be the mischievous one. They were both teasing Makena successfully, but she knew how to push her buttons.

"I think she'll dig a hole for herself if that happens." Cory chipped in, trying to hide her laughter, all to no avail.

They both dissolved into a peal of laughter, but Makena remained rooted, with her arms crossed.

"I'm glad you are both enjoying my moments of embarrassment."

Am I bad for also enjoying this moment?
