Chapter 74

Agnes rushed to her office and came back with an injection.

"No," Jake groaned. "Don't."

"I am here," Maya said understanding the current situation, they had to put him to sleep for his own good. His pulse was getting out of control and Agnes was afraid he would end up making a mess of what she was doing.

Jake eyes opened at the sight of the injection, didn't this nurse understand that he could withstand the pain and remain stable. Wasn't he doing a good job so far of staying still even though the needle pricking his skin was making him lose his senses.

"Hey," Maya muttered pulling his face towards her affectionately, she smiled at him as Agnes placed the injection getting the signal before Jake could be aware of what the two ladies were up to.

His eyes widened in annoyance and fear.

"I am here," Maya said holding him. She didn't understand why he was so scared of being put to sleep, it was obvious that the pain would be too much to handle which would result to headache and another illness.

She wondered what he must have gone through to be so worried about something like this, she could only hope he would tell her when he was in a better state.

Why was she even interested in his story or anything that concerned his personal life? this was nothing, she didn't give a damn about anyone especially him, this was just her showing empathy.

Once he was back to his senses, she was going to make it known to him that all this meant nothing to her.

Matteo had carried Sarah to her room after she slummed, she seemed overwhelmed by the whole situation and the injuring to her head which was already bandaged now.

"I didn't mean to hurt her," Sarah cried as Matteo dropped the cup of water her had offered her on the table. He walked back to her and got in bed with her placing her in his arm.

"Hey," he said patting her head as she laid on his chest sobbing quietly, she only wanted to warn Olivia off, she didn't mean to kill her or to have Dawn lose her baby by falling off the balcony.

Sarah had been devastated when Matteo told her what had happened to Dawn and how she was sleeping peacefully in their ward right now.

"You didn't kill her okay," Matteo reassured her for the tenth time, since she woke up and had freshened up she seemed intent on crying her eyes out, she truly didn't kill Olivia, Maya was the one who did. "Maya did."

"Maya," Sarah sniffed raising her head up to stare at him, she cleaned her teary eyes immediately. "Who is Maya?"

Matteo stared at her and chuckled, this woman couldn't even hide her emotions right now.

"Why are you laughing?"

"Thought you were worried but now you seem jealous," Travis teased.

Jealous, Sarah stared away, she wasn't jealous of anything but it just seemed every woman in his life had dated him one way or the other.

He pulled her closer to him and adjusted her to sit right on him as he placed a kiss on her lips. "She is Maya's twin," he whispered on her lips.

"Right," she replied like she knew that already but only got a light chuckle from Matteo.

"I know I shouldn't be saying this but when this is over I really want to fuck you," Matteo muttered on her lips grabbing her ass tightly and pulling her in for another kiss.

Dawn finally opened her eyes, she could feel it was heavy and that she wasn't sure she could keep it open for too long, she stared around as a dim light brightened the room.

She remembered what had happened to her from the car, how she had been coughing blood all of a sudden, falling unconcious and having to wake up to another terror of Olivia placing a knife on her neck.

She felt her eyes watery from the thought of Olivia actually being able to want to physically harm her to the point where she had thought about killing her, she wanted to speak to her, to question her but she felt her body weakened under her arm.

When they were in the river, she finally felt she would die when her head was placed into the water over and over again but yet again Stephan had saved her, he had been there to make sure she pulled through and he had whispered something into her ears.

'I LOVE YOU'

She didn't know if it was in her head that Stephan truly said those words to her but she knew she heard it right and it had shocked her, she had always thought she would be the one to eventually say it first with the way things had been going between them or maybe she was still hallucinating maybe he didn't say it.

She stared at him as he laid in the chair next to her bed, he looked so peaceful and from the blood stain on his shirt she knew he had not changed his clothes since then or even left her side.

"Olivia," she muttered turning to the side to see Olivia lying down there motionless. How could she hate her so  much? She also didn't care much about Olivia or what she was doing with her life but she never wished her death or had any intention of killing her.

She knew what happened to her was because of her but she never ordered it to happen, she never for once wished for her to lose her baby.

Dawn placed her hand on her stomach at the thought of the baby, what of her baby? She remembered feeling a sensation down there and even bleeding out.

Bleeding!

"My baby," Dawn cried out as her voice echoed in the ward. "My baby."

Stephan opened his eyes at the sound of Dawn crying, he adjusted his chair to her bed happy that she was finally awake, he had thought she wouldn't wake up till tomorrow.

"Dawn," he held her hand in his as he watched her looking away and crying her eyes out, he didn't know how to console her or reassure her that everything would be alright not only had her sister tried to kill her by drowning her, she had also lost their baby.

"My baby," Dawn cried some more looking away from Stephan, how could these happen to her? She had plans for these baby, she had visioned a lot of things that involved the baby and intentionally didn't even want to know the gender of the baby but now Olivia had taken her baby from her.

"thought you were never going to wake up," Maya said as she watched Jake open his eyes, last night while she was asleep she heard her twin crying her eyes out. She had been disturbed by the noise but eventually fell asleep in between, she wondered how long Stephan had been up because when she woke up this morning they were both fast asleep cuddled up in the little hospital bed.

It was a lovely sight to watch knowing fully well that Stephan was a well known man and if she told anyone about this they wouldn't believe her one bit. She wondered how her twin was able to be in a relationship with Stephan, she heard men like him were hard to be with as they seemed more occupied with their work and busy to be bothered by a woman.

There was no difference from him and her father, who abandoned her mum when she needed him the most. 

"Don't tell me you slept here all night," Jake finally said remembering all that had happened to him yesterday, it was obvious Maya had slept here over night because she had this scent like she had just taken her bath.

"I didn't ," she denied. Maya had wanted to go to her room to sleep, she didn't find the hospital comfortable but she remembered Jake having a phobia of being asleep in the hospital, she decided to stay back incase he woke up in the middle of the night probably thirsty or something but he had been asleep all through till this morning.

"You look beautiful when you lie," he replied.

Was that supposed to be a compliment or what? Maya wondered staring at him.

He tried to sit up as Maya assisted him adjusting his pillow properly, she turned to the small table next to the him and poured him a glass of water handing it to him as he collected it groaning his face. 

It seemed stretching his hand was in a way affecting his stitch, he stared down at his belly as he drank the water slowly. He was already neatly bandaged on the two side where he was stitched, he was about to drop his water when his eyes caught someone who was walking towards the bed opposite him and he nearly choked on his water. 

"Matteo," Jake muttered for only his ear as Matteo stared at him.
