Chapter 9: Trapped

Damn it. I was too careless. Did I lose my touch after all these years. I didn't expect that I would be targeted by that demoted Politician. It's okay. Deep breath dude. Deep breath. Keep a cool mind like always and think.

"We are trapped? But how?"

Maria shook my shoulder violently. It hurts. Is she like those extinct gorillas or something.

"Let me think for a bit Maria."

Looking at the surrounding houses and landscape. Hmmm we are not that far away from the girls house. Maybe three to four block away. I want to know the range of this trap.

"Do you see this tree Maria? Mark this tree in your mind. What we are going to do are walk forward and when we see this tree again you have to remind me alright?"

"This tree? Got it."

"Alright let's go."

Trap type Artifact has an effective range and a center. This kind of artifact the bigger its range it requires more conditions to activate it. Yeah I was sure of it now. It was not that I was targeted specifically. I just met the conditions set up for the Artifact to activate.

"We are back at the tree Faust."

"100 meter. We walked for 100 meters. Then the effective range of the trap is 50 meters."

"Wowww. How do you know that...."

"Looping trap Artifact is simple and require less conditions to activate it and there are a lot of it circulating around."

"So how the heck we get out of here?"

"There are two ways. One is to wait for Artifact user to run out Vestia but I think that guy use a Vestia bank so.... yeah. The second way is to disturb the core of the trap...."

"Oh then we can just-"

Maria pump her fist to the sky. Her boob also jiggle. I might have to visit a whore house tonight.

Maria brought out two ring bracelets and wear one each on her wrists. The bracelets started to shine for a bit and then it started vibrating. Wave series huh. That some seriously dangerous Artifact.

I then pop up Candy Gum in my mouth. My favorite Artifact. My senses started to sharpen. I brought out my revolver and then shoot up the tree on my right. Bang! Crack!Cracklecrackle. The barrier just cracked and repair itself. Now that the core was threaten, it would send out sentries.

Metal dolls started appearing with bladed arms and legs along with their floating cylinder head.

"Maria cover me alright? I really don't like pain."

"Don't! Worry!"

Maria shouted while giving a straight punch in the air. Then the air started to vibrate and along with a powerful exploding sound, the metal dolls started being blown away.
