15 ⌜Chapter 14⌟

A screen appeared in the skies which caught the attention of the players, Kirito was among those people, he just finished grinding up for today and was on his way back towards the town to hear if there was news of the boss being found.

But just as he arrived at his favorite tavern, a screen appeared on the skies, there was also one inside the tavern, but most of them saw the one in the skies, Kirito was confused at first as to why a thing like this appeared since it never happened in the beta test.

Out of curiosity, he looked at the screen and saw the scene of a man wearing a mask and in front of him was a monster that Kirito recognized as the boss of the first floor, he was shocked as he found it, and he also felt hope and pity to the player who found the boss.

Fighting a boss alone is nothing but a form of suicide in the early stages, even Kirito who has a higher level than other players will not hesitate to run away if he found one, but just as he was thinking about these things, he saw the man took out his weapon.

"A scythe?"

Kirito was surprised, but he didn't find it strange because almost all cold weapons are added in the SAO, he just found it surprising that someone could wield a scythe, for some reason, Kirito felt hope, wishing this man could defeat or even reveal a part of the power of the boss monster.

Once the boss monster is defeated then they could finally enter the second floor, one step in living this death game, looking at the man, Kirito could tell he was very powerful, probably also a beta tester.

It didn't take long for the man to move and everyone was watching closely for the upcoming fight each expecting what is going to happen in this fight.

While everyone is watching, the man himself didn't know that his fight was being watched by every player in SAO.

Illfang was over two meters tall, muscular, covered in blue-grey fur (red in the illustrations and anime), and had bloodthirsty, copper-red eyes. Illfang used a large bone ax and a leather shield to attack. Behind its waist, it carried a meter and half long nodachi weapon.

Illfang was supported by its minion Ruin Kobold Sentinels. Twelve such minions were spawned throughout the battle: three at the start of the battle and an additional three each time one of Illfang's hit point bars were depleted.

That's the information I remembered from the internet, so my battle plan is simple, deplete Illfang's hp until he spawns all of his minions, I don't have to worry about being surrounded because a scythe is a weapon that becomes more powerful when the sure is surrounded.

What I need to be cautious about is the Illfang using his nodachi, once he uses that weapon, he would be capable of using skills and its movement being like a player, I have fought the Death Scythe that is more powerful than Illfang but this guy is the floor boss, I don't know how powerful it was yet but I could not help but want to fight it.

Am I turning into a battle junky now? well, whatever.

"Breath of Death: Ichi no kata! Death Dance!

*Swoosh!

My scythe started lighting up as I charged towards Illfang, I moved very fast that it only left a dark trail behind me, my cape fluttered a little bit but my armor did not show itself, I entered the aggro range of Illfang minions and they charged towards me wanting to stop my attack but I skillfully avoiding them and in a blink of an eye I immediately reached Illfang.

I moved around the Illfang dancing, I played music inside my head in which I call the forgotten odes, my Death Dance has improved a lot ever since I fought the Death Scythe, one thing I improved of this move was the dance, yes, a dance without music is nothing but just moving.

With music, it was as if, my dance was improved by a lot, truly, a Death Dance, my movement was neither graceful nor magnificent, I stayed true to what I am, my dance is the image of death, death isn't beautiful nor was it the picture of happiness.

Death is the painful truth, this death dance, a dance meant to kill.

*Slash! *Slash!

The scythe on my hand moved like the flowing river, powerful and never-ending, and so I decided to name my scythe while in the middle of the battle, Styx, or the river of death.

*Roar!

Illfang roared loudly as its HP decreased at a fast rate, even with the ax and butler on its hands were deemed useless as it wasn't able to do anything to stop my onslaught, the minions who tried to get close to me were either sent flying with a slash or die after a while.

Illfang tried to back away from me to escape from my clutches but I stuck to it like a piece of glue, slowly its last hit point bar was depleted to a third of its capacity.

*Roar!

Illfang roared loudly that it even interrupted my Death Dance, I stepped back for a few meters before stopping, my death dance is a skill that could continue on until my opponent is dead, and it was also very hard to interrupt unless my flow is broken, with my skill interrupted, it finally entered cooldown of 5 minutes.

Illlfang threw the ax and shield away, and finally pulled out the nodachi from its back, Illfang's eyes glowed bright red as it stared at me, his minions have long been killed by me and only I and he were the ones who are going to face off.

*Swooosh!

Illlfang dashed towards me at a very fast speed and swung his nodachi, I calmly blocked its attack with my scythe.

*Dang!

Both of our weapons clashed creating a spark, I was surprised when I was being pushed back a little, when the last time I fought the death scythe, It wasn't able to push me back even by a little when we clashed but Illfang was able to do so, it was really true that floor boss monsters are more powerful.

I guess I need to take this seriously.
