Guards of Anubis

Crynn POV

This is impossible! If every time I circled around, the statue's upper body also turns around, then I can't get a clear shot! "O'Connell! Shoot directly after reaching their backs, the statues can instantaneously turn its upper bodies!" I gave a narrow look at the statue before dodging another swing.

I can't just dodge over and over again. I unsheated my sword ans slashed down at it. Ting! The sword collided with the golden spear, blocking it completely. That spear is annoying, got to take it out or better yet, immobilize the damn statue. Do I have to reveal my magic early on? I gritted my teeth as I blocked the statue's attack.

I looked around to see everyone focused on either dodging or shooting, directly summoning my wand onto my hand and pointed it at the statue. "Petrificus Totalus," I whispered and a white light focused on the end of my wand, before flying out to the statue. As if reacting to it, the statue rapidly stomped the ground with its spear, doing something.

And to my horror, a faint dark red bubble formed without any notice around the statue, directly dissipating my incoming spell. Shite! No spells then! What then! I thought of all the items I have amassed over my travels. Dimensional briefcase, nope. Never ending platter of sandwiches, nope. Gold bar, nope. Acromantula poison, nope. Nope, nope, nope... Aha!

I suddenly got a stroke of inspiration while thinking of what I could use. Explosives! In this crowded room of 4 individuals and 4 big killer statues, my C4 and grenades could not be used. But what could be used exactly? Non-harmful objects turned into explosions! I opened my briefcase in a fast swipe and my left hand inserted inside for an item.

I soon felt a cold cylinder touching my hand, this is it! The one extinguishing Snape's fire, slayer of hyenas! The fire extinguisher! I threw the extinguisher perfectly arcing it towards the statues dog face. Right on my expectations, the statue coldly grabbed it by its hand, lowering it to gaze at me with that malevolent red eyes of it.

Heh! Sucker! I pulled my gun and unleashed three synchronized shots onto the red barrel! Puncturing it at almost the exact same times! Boosh! The pressure of the extinguisher imploded and white foam, exploded out, shocking everyone. The statue was forced back a few steps from the immense pressure it felt.

But not fast enough to realize that I have gone round to its back, aiming carefully onto the glowing blue rock. Bang! Bang! Two shots delivered from my muzzle, ripples of air following the bullets' path and hit! The two bullets precisely bashing the blue rock, crushing it as it began to crack. Crack! Crack! Boom!

Unexpectedly, the blue rock shattered in an eruption, letting out blue waves of light and mist to the rest of the room! "What was that!" O'Connell flabbergastedly looked around while continue dodging and trying to circle a statue. "I shot off a blue rock and it just exploded!" I am also astonished, what exactly just happened.

"Gunpowder!? Sulfur!?" Jonathan is giving inquiries of his own to which Evelyn strongly opposed, "Impossible, gunpowder and sulfur releases smoke upon combustion, this is different!" I swiped the mist off the surrounding air as I looked upon the statue's sudden kneel. "My side's statue knelt down, now we know that shooting the blue rock works!"

Right out of nowhere, I felt a tugging on my my hand as I looked down to see a haze of a hand with sharp claws and menacing shape held onto me. Then onto a familiar dog face looked right at me from the ground, only its face and neck are visible as the rest of its spirity hazy body has sunk to the ground.

"سوف يتذكرك حراس أنوبيس (The Guards of Anubis will remember you)!" the hound faced spirit let out its final shriek before chains of red dragged it into the ground, "Jesus Christ!" I just got the shock of my life, I hate horror movies, and horror situations in real life, I can't handle that. Even watching Resident Evil has me leaving the cinema in fright!

[Hidden Slip Mission: The Guards of Anubis felt ashamed that a lowly mortal could defeat one of them, prove your strength by battling their captain in the Duat!]

WTF is this?! I haven't got time to read this, I swiped it across my face, gotta check it out later. But what's important now, is distracting O'Connell's statue so he could finish it off. I released the magazine to check my bullet condition, about half of the full amount of 18 bullets are left, it should be enough.

I shot once at O'Connell's bronze statue as it turned my head onto me. It came at me slowly with big strides, almost jumping at each step. Its spear raised up in the air as if preparing to slash. Bang! Bang! Two gunshots were heard and a crack sound followed with another explosion of blue dust and mist.

The statue knelt down as its eyes lost its color and it returned to its lifeless state. As I stared onto the statue, O'Connell's surprised shout was heard and I turned towards him as I saw another spirit of the statue held onto him. "يلعنك حراس أنوبيس (The guards of Anubis curses you)," The spirit releases a blood curdling shriek about the same one as before.

"Evelyn! You heard that right!" O'Connell shouted at a running Evelyn while refiling his ammunitions into the magnum. "I'm a bit busy here! I could really use some help!" Evelyn complained as she continues running around chased by a rather annoyed looking statue. "Don't forget about me!" Jonathan jumped in fright as a spear slashed below his feet.

The statues are moving too much, I can't shoot precisely with all that movement. I looked down and saw the kneeling statue holding that beautiful golden spear, gemstones of various sizes carved into it. I snatched it from the dead statue and shouted from across the room. "Jonathan catch!" I threw the spear to jonathan.

"Wait what!" Jonathan looked blank and found aa flying spear suddenly pierced the ground between his legs. "Keep him close, keep his feet on the ground," I sharply warned him, "Unless you do not want the statue dead!" That ought to keep him focused.
