Chapter 11: Guild hunting
It's been 2 months since Remi had died and was brought to this world to fight the demon Lords and get reborn, through this time he had experienced many hardships the most severe was around the corner "poverty"
Castle town
Rankless guild
"All these missions are so low pay! What the hell Basil!" Our protagonist Remi shouts at the white haired receptionist Basil Fury.
"This rank less guild is meant for bums and weaklings, as a bronze level knight you go get join an official guild!" She shouted back annoyed.
Before Remi could return her shout Edward entered the conversation, "Perhaps it is time to enter an official guild, with our restaurant expenses, taking care of Valerie along with our own adventure gear, we'll be bankrupt in a week" Edward stated.
Remi had opened his restaurant but his infamous monster meals were incredibly cheap since only poor villager bought them, he couldn't afford real food for the more wealthy individuals, that's if they'd even eat the food of a demon.
Remi made up his mind,
"Seems that this is the last time I'll see you Basil" Remi faked a smile.
"Pfft, you aren't the only one in need of a money, am quitting this job tomorrow, hopefully I'll get into a guild you aren't apart of" Basil gave her honestly feelings infuriating the already pissed Remi.
"Why you Bitc...." Remi was then pulled out of the rank less guild by Edward with basil sticking her tongue out at him, Valerie had also been there quietly looking around got up and left.
Main road
As the party walked down the road ignoring the stares of the townspeople
Remi said his mind.
"If we get enough money I'd like to have a shop in castle town too, get more advertisment for monster meals then I can turn the old one into a storeroom" Remi spoke his mind.
"That's a wonderful idea sir, bit first we need to get that money" Edward reminded.
"Whatever you decide sir Remi I'll support you! That's what family's for!" Valerie had already decided to call the Wrath party a family, Edward liked it but Remi was still skeptical.
Red Amber guild building
The building was a huge castle made of red bricks with 3 main halls in it, it had a crisp aroma was in the air as the trip entered the red wood doors.
As they entered all eyes were focused on them.
"The demon party?, What are they doing here?, They can't possibly be here to register?!" So many voice pandering what Remi's group visit was about then...
"Yo Remi!" A husky came rushing from a group of knights, it was one of the people who were brought to this world along with Remi, Alex.
"Oh,.... you are part of this guild" Remi asked the person in front of him.
"Alex it's Alex! And yes am a part of the red Amber guild see" Alex showed his left arm and had a red band in it with a flame design on it, symbolising his guild.
Alex wore brown leather armor and had a mace on his back, he had a single old scar on the left side of his face.
"Alex! Don't run around so much!" Another voice came from the crowd it was Elisa another one of the people Remi came with.
Elisa also had blue leather armor on along with her pink dress made her look like chocolate ice cream (her short hair curved at the bottom like a scoop of ice cream) she also had a red sash on her left arm.
"Remi, it's been a while" Elisa smiled but Remi's bored expression was static.
"...,I guess you'd be here too are the others here?" Remi asked again.
"Elisa come on remember my name!, The others are in different guilds" Elisa said as she pouted and turned her head.
"Thanks for the information, also is the guild leader here, we want to join the guild" Edward said drawing attention to himself and Valerie.
"Wow she's so cute!" Elisa quickly turned to Valerie and grabbed her cheeks.
"Mushhhuushuu" Valerie protested against the sudden skinship.
"Yah she's here I can even take you to her" Alex offered.
"That would nice" Remi said with an almost sarcastic voice.
Red ember guild master's office
It was a wide room with many trophies and awards on the walls and shelves, in the middle of the room was a dark skinned woman sitting on chair handling some paperwork, she had dark pink hair and wore a red dress with roses attached to it.
Alex, Elisa, Edward and Valerie when in but Before Remi could even take step a forward 5 metal rods emerged from the guild floor and ensnared him in a metal cage.
"What the hell?!" Remi shouted in confusion.
"What business brings you here wrath demon?" The woman asked calmly.
"Sorry madam Chimamanda, Remi and his party want to know if they'll be accepted here as a guild members?" Alex asked while Elisa and the others went to check on the caged Remi.
"I can accept the 2 children, but the demon's a no, the look in his eyes is disgusting" Chimamanda said with eyes of hatred.
"Say that again!" Remi yelled as he started to bend the metal bars.
"It's okay sir! They are other guilds if she won't accept you then Valerie and I won't stay here too!" Edward said as he tried to calm down his friend.
Chimamanda turned her chair backwards and continued her work, while Remi and the others left the office.
"I guess this guild vis a no, the guild master seems pissed with my demon nature" Remi said annoyed.
"I was looking forward to working with you..." Said Elisa as she brought her gaze to her feet.
Remi rubbed the back of his head and said "It wouldn't hurt to come and visit you guys once in a while I suppose"
"Really?!" Elisa asked as she got closer to Remi's face.
"Too close!" Remi softly pushed her face away from his making Alex, Edward and Valerie laugh at the scene.
Main road
Valerie grew curious as to why most people didn't like Remi and asked Edward "Ed... Why don't people like sir Remi?".
"Well it's not Sir, that they hate? But that his carrying a demon in him that almost destroyed this kingdom a long time ago" Edward tried to explain.
"Pfft! I never asked to become the host of that monster, they should understand that and give me a break!" Remi rambled on.
"No matter what anyone says, you saved my life sir Remi and that makes you a good person in my eyes" Valerie said as she gave him a deep smile.
"Same here Sir, you're a great person always trying to help when possible" Edward added.
"Hm...Yah yah let's go to another guild so we can celebrate with a hefty dinner!" Remi shouted as he turned his face away from his friends who were all happy with his declaration.
Blue dew guild building
Unlike the other guild hall this looked more like a mansion than a castle, and was painted white with blue window tints, inside seemed cozy like a place you'd want to take a nap in and forget about everything else.
"Buhahahahaha!" A familiar voice reached Remi as he turned to face another one of his fellow otherworlder, Ali.
The guy still had glasses on but he wrapped his hair in a turban with a few strands sticking out, he had a single silver chest plate on and wore a gray cloak and that bearly hid away a long thin sword on his waist he had a blue sash on his left hand too.
"Is this seriously your team? A fat guy, and a little girl buhahahahaha I feel bad for calling you overpowered back then buhahahah" Ali continued his hefty laugh angering all the members of wrath party until.
'Wammm!' A sturdy hand slapped the back of his head "ouch!" He cried.
A woman wearing light blue leather armor and brown trousers was the slapper "You're always so rude to people it's annoying as hell".
"I just wanted to show off my guild rank!" Ali protested as he showcased a badge on his blue wrist sash.
She turned her glance towards Remi and and smiled her wild afro still looking as unkept as ever, Deborah.
"Long time no see, it's good that you have friends keeping you company" Deborah said with smile.
"Yah, anyway is your guild master her...?" Before he could finish his sentence the hall cleared up and a man jumped down from the top floor onto a table.
"Hohohoho, what an unpleasant surprise!" The man said as he pointed at Remi.
"Master!" Both Ali and Deborah did what the other guild members did by bending a knee.
The master in question was a middle aged man with bright crimson hair and fair brown skin, he wore a white suit with blue linings on it, strapped to his side was a heavy looking claymore sword, yet he moved around with ease.
"Welcome demon And demon advocates! To the blue dew guild! Am the guild master here Emeka!" He shouted and the guild members clapped.
Remi, Edward and Valerie all looked shocked at the reception they were getting.
"I've heard that you want to join my guild fair enough I have one condition for you..." He walked to Remi smiling.
"punch me in gut" Emeka said with a devious smile.
Remi didn't hesitate and was ready to dish out a haymaker at the weird man until.
'tap' Ali grabbed his hand and stopped him. "What?!" Remi said confused
"How dumb can you be?" Ali Said in a mocking tone.
The guild master coughed as some sweat dripped down his cheek.
"He was going to kill you as soon as you punched him and say it was in self defense" Ali said as he deadpanned.
"That's a low blow master!" Deborah shouted and the other members joined into.
"Pfft, I was about to do the world a favorite... Just leave already demon seeing you makes my ass itch" Emeka then jumped back to the top floor like it was nothing.
"Everyone wants to kill me cause of this bloody wrath demon!! Damnit all!!" Remi shouted at the top of his lungs.
"The price for easy power.." Ali said before Deborah slapped his head again.
"That was dangerous... The next guild indigo spores should be a lot nicer it's a magic guild" Edward said to Remi trying to calm him down again.
"I wouldn't bother Amaka, the other girl who came with us is there she says her master hasn't been around for months now" Deborah advised Remi and the others.
"so how many guilds those that leave?" Valerie asked impatiently.
"1" Edward lifted a single finger and Remi continued to ramble on about on unfair shit.
As they we're about to leave Ali said some words to Remi.
"Next time we meet don't be surprise to see am silver rank" he said smugly.
"Same here you ass!" Remi declared as he walked away from the white mansion to the final guild.
Black moon guild.
Most likely the smallest guild Remi and the others had seen, it was the same as a normal house but painted black bin the mist of normal buildings making it stand out, as the entered they noticed why, the guild only had like 5 people in it, unlike the others were people we're moving in drones.
A dark skinned girlwith pure white hair and black lenced glasses, she wore a white and black dress and had a small sickle on her waist ran towards them.
"Welcome! Remi! Edward! And especially Valerie! So you're here to join us right?!" The woman said with glee.
The trio were got of guard by the woman's knowledge.
"How do know our names! And how did you know we wanted to joined this guild!" Remi questioned her.
"I'm Suriaha! Susu for short, I've been keeping an eye on you since you blew up at the selection meeting! My Master's really interested in yo..." Susu was cut off by a karate chop to the head by a guy behind her.
"That's enough just take them to the master's training room" the dar skinned man said sluggishly, he wore crimson armor and had a rough looking face, his hair was red, he was bulky and far taller than anyone in the hall.
"Sure sure! I never get to have any fun around here" Susu said with an angry face.
"By the way am Ayat, nice to meet you all finally" Ayat said with a salute.
(I could have sworn he's one of the types to attack first and greet later. I was wrong I guess) Remi I put his mind at ease as he and the rest followed Susu.
Black moon training field
In an open room the floor instead of being wood was plain red sand, a man stood in the middle of the room holding two long leaf shaped swords in his hands, he wore something similar to Martial arts GI, he was also dark skinned like those from the other world, yet his dark blue hair made him stand out, his expression was that of boredom as he took a battle pose by raising the swords to the sky.
Suddenly about 10 logs of wood fell towards him but he gently moved his swords like a swaying leaf.
[Ida sword style: Calm strike] the man swung his swords slowly downward, and in less than 5 seconds all the logs of wood were turned into saw dust and fell to the ground like confetti.
Remi and the others had watched this display from afar in awe at the sheer speed and skill of the man. Remi could have sworn the man used chainsaws instead of swords cause it looked like they vibrated as he swung them.
"Well come down I want to test you if you're worthy" the man said as he pointed at Remi from afar.
Remi reluctantly looked at Susu and she smiled. "Yep! That's our guild master, David his a master at the Ida sword techniques, don't keep him waiting". She then told him to go meet him.
"Good luck sir!" Edward cheered.
"You can do it!" Valerie also shouted as jumped up and down.
"Geez!" Remi said as he went to meet up with the guild master.
"I would like to Join your guild? Can I?" Remi said as he bent a bit.
"I'll allow it.." David said and it caught everyone off guard.
"Really?!" Remi said surprised.
"Ask me again if you can I will guarantee you and your friends a role to play in my guild, if you can't you'll leave the kingdom" David said with a serious face.
"Huh? Alright then" Remi was confused but shrugged it off.
All of a sudden the area Remi I was in with David was closed off from the rest in a dense cloud of black energy that made Remi's skin crawl.
(He did it! He took my life before!) A voice echoed in Remi's head, it was the voice of the wrath demon.
"What!" Remi screamed as he was in pain die to the pressure of the energy.
"Stop it!" Edward tried to stop this display but Susu held both and Valerie back.
"You remember don't you... The one who killed you before in your previous host... Huh wrath!" David screamed at Remi who had fallen to his knees.
"May....." Remi struggle to talked.
"Show me you have a will of your own, show me you won't give into the demon! Show me you are a demon knight!" David added even more magical pressure into the area making Remi feel even worse.
(Let's kill him, we can do it this time!) The wrath demon tried to convince Remi but Remi didn't yield.
(He remembered Edward and Valerie were counting on him, he remembered the people he wanted to get to know better (Elisa, Alex and co) he remembered his goal, to be reborn as a human back on Earth, all these things kept him sane and human.
"May..... I.... Join your...guild!!" Remi yelled at David taking him by surprise.
"Hahahahahaha U told you he could it!" Susu said as he laughed heavily.
David dispelled the Aura and threw Remi a black cloth, he also threw 2 more at Edward and Valerie.
"Huh?" Remi unraveled the cloth and saw it had a shiny white cresent moon pattern on it like that of Susu and Ayat.
"Welcome to the guild, I don't usually take much new knights in, so you have a lot to do" David said as he began to leave the field.
Remi didn't have time to breathe as both Edward and Valerie jumped on him.
"Get off!" He cried.
"Sir sir sir!!" Edward was balling his eyes out as he hugged Remi tightly.
"I thought you were going to die for sure!" Valerie also cried as she hugged his leg.
"Buwhahahahhahah" Susu gave another hefty belly laugh as she saw her new guildmates play around.
Ayat in the corner also smiled as he headed back to the hall
"It's good to know that the wrath demon is in capable hands ain't that right master?" He said to him as he walked on.
The next day
Black moon guild Hall
"My new job!" A happy White haired receptionist Basil smiled as she replaced the old receptionist of the black moon guild.
"Now remember even though they aren't much people here you have to be nice to them okay" the old receptionist said.
"No problem the less people the better I'll be the nicest person they've ever seen" Basil said with an angelic smile.
"Here comes some members now! Welco....." Basil stopped midway as she realized who she was greeting.
Remi and the weather party we're looking directly at basil holding up a mission request.
"What the hell!!!!!!!!!" Both Basil and Remi engaged in a heated battle of insults making the entire guild noisy as hell.
In the guild master's office David was sighing at the noise.
"Pfft I'll never get used to this".
That's that Remi, Edward and Valerie finally have a guild and won't go broke what else awaits them?
