Shameless Ex

Miguel took the phone from Cecilia as she sat down helplessly, sobbing, her hands trembling.

He adjusted the phone close to his ears to hear the bullshit the man had to say. But what he was hearing made his eyes widen in awe.

"Cecilia, please come back to me. Anna...she is pregnant and I need money." A stern voice resounded over the phone.

Cecilia heard what her ex-boyfriend said loud and clear after threatening her a few minutes ago, he was requesting money because he had impregnated her best friend.

Miguel, on the other hand, didn't know who Anna was and was just knowing the name of the woman sobbing beside him through the man he guessed to be her ex-boyfriend.

He glanced at the shaky figure beside him and he instantly knew he had to do the needful.

The man's voice resounded over the phone, ordering for quick response.

"Mister, this isn't Cecilia," Miguel said, his voice firm and cold.

Cecilia from her sobs, raised her head, looking up to the man who just winked at her, reassuring her that he'd handle it.

"Cecilia, why am I hearing a man's voice? Who are you with, you slut?" He yelled, making Miguel adjust the phone away from his ear.

"She's not just with a man, she's with Miguel Gonzalez. Bet that name rings a bell." Miguel asked a smirk forming on his lips.

"Gonzalez? Cecilia, what are you doing with Mr. Gonzalez? Those rich people are dangerous."

Cecilia clenched her fist, clutching on top of the towel that covered her naked body. She felt like she would lose it sooner or later if he didn't stop talking. His voice irritated her and he had the guts to ask her for money.

Her ex seemed to be quite familiar with Miguel's last name but his family wasn't a public figure, it made her curious but her curiosity didn't last. Not until she heard Miguel asking her ex to name how much money he wanted.

"State your price and promise to leave her alone," Miguel stated, his voice icy.

Cecilia reached for his leg and pinched him. The latter glanced at her and she disapproved of him giving money to her ex as she used his legs for support and helped herself up without letting the towel fall off.

"I'll take it from here." She took the phone from him forcefully, fortunately, his grip on it wasn't tight.

Cecilia didn't waste any second as she immediately hung up when her shameless ex was about to mention the amount of money he wanted.

She threw her phone on the bed, furiously. "Asshole." She groaned, running her hands through her silky blonde hair.

"How did you end up with a man like that? Jeez!" Miguel furrowed his brow in disgust, crossing his arms.

Cecilia was too annoyed to answer Miguel's questions but she had to. "I just don't know. I started dating him while I was a teen, eight years ago."

"That's a long time ago."

"Hmm." She nodded in response. Her mind still reeling from the fact that her best friend was pregnant for her ex. That means they've been having an intimate affair even before she knew. Damn him!

Cecilia glanced at the man who just went to sit on her bed. Why isn't he leaving now?

"I gotta get dressed." She reminded him but he seemed unfazed.

"Okay."

"Hmm..." She used her eyes and signaled for him to use the door but he just let out a low chuckle and stood up.

"You're in my house and you are obliged to serve me." He said, touching her pale milk skin, as he ran his hand along her shoulders, sending shivers down her spine but she was quick to slap his hands off her.

Even though he had seen her bare body during the one-night stand, she wouldn't let him take advantage of her again.

"Quite persistent. Meet me downstairs. I have something to discuss with you." He said heading towards the door.

Cecilia stood there frozen without uttering a word.

"Don't make me wait, unless you want me to dress you up myself." He warned before leaving the latter all alone in the four-cornered room.

Instead of getting dressed like she was instructed to, Cecilia sat on the floor, crying her eyes out.

Her eight-year relationship was in vain, now Anna; her best friend was pregnant. And here she was, all alone, in a stranger's house heartbroken.

She brought out the photo she took with her ex and the one she took with Anna when they were all in high school. The pain they went through together, and the happy memories they shared were all shattered in one night. That's the night Cecilia would never forget until she has left the earth.

Things were just too bad to be true. Now she wondered how miserable her life whole life would be, now that she was in the custody of a stranger. She just wished he hadn't cheated on her and her best friend wouldn't have betrayed her but things happened for a reason, she just saw their true colors.

Taking a final glance at the photos, she hid them back in her suitcase and stood up to get dressed.

Descending the grand stairs, she took a glance at the stranger who took her in from the beach. She was indebted to him but she had to find a life of her own and leave his house. She thought of her presence as a burden as she needed to escape from his clutches, hoping that nothing would come up again that would make her stay in his house for long.

But her curiosity got the best of her as she wanted to know what he had to say to her. Maybe he was indeed tired of her presence and wanted to send her out. Cecilia couldn't help but think broadly about the gravity of her situation. The void expression on his face made her shiver as she wished she could read through his thoughts hoping that he wouldn't change his mind about her stay in his house after what he just saw.
