Chapter 3:Doing Quests 2

Me and Jayden are in the guild looking for another quest.

"Can I have some beginner's quests again?" I asked the quest giver

"Wait a minute gentlemen" she replied

We waited for her to take out some scrolls, we could see some high rankings quests and huh? What is that ranking? I'll just ask her.

"Here are the quests for beginners" she said to us and gave us three scrolls

I'll ask her what are the rankings or proficiencies here, Jayden look at the scrolls and read it.

"Uhhh what are the rankings in here?" I asked the lady

"The rankings? Okay, The first rank is called Novice or Initiate, Novices typically start with beginner quests, training sessions, and orientation activities to familiarize themselves with the guild's culture"

"Second rank is called Apprentice or Journeyman, Apprentices may take on more challenging quests, participate in skill-building workshops, and seek mentorship from experienced members"

"Third rank is called Specialist or Experts, Specialists may lead guild activities, mentor newer members, and undertake advanced quests or projects that require their specialized knowledge"

"Fourth rank is called Officer or Leader, Officers are responsible for guiding and supporting other members, making strategic decisions for the guild, and ensuring the smooth operation of guild activities"

"And lastly Elder or Veteran, Elders may serve as advisors to guild leadership, mediate conflicts, and uphold the guild's traditions and values" She said it all

Okay, there are 5 ranks, If my rank goes up, i'll just stay on expert and the last 2, I don't know and want to teach and just get stuck in the same place forever.

"We'll take all these three" I heard Jayden said

Huh? I took the three scrolls from him and placed them on the counter to read it.

Hunt For The Forest Boar:The guild has received reports of a growing population of aggressive Forest Boars in the nearby woods. These boars are causing trouble for local farmers and travelers. Your task is to hunt down and eliminate 5 of Forest Boars to ensure the safety of the area.

Gathering Rare Herbs:The guild's resident herbalist is in need of herbs for crafting potent potions and remedies, 3 are needed.

Hunting The Wild Wolves:There are reports about 3 wolves in the east forest killing and hunting some of the villagers who tried to walk to the forest.

"Ma'am, are you sure the third quest is a beginners quest?" I asked the lady and showed it to her

"Oh, I think I got the wrong quest, let me replac-" suddenly Jayden stopped the lady and stole the third scroll from the counter

"C'mon man, look at this 600 gold coins, i think it's 200 gold each wolf, we could buy a lot of new weapons or armors or buy myself a new rogue armor with that money including the rewards of the other 2, just look, let's do the 2nd quest and then do the 1st, the first quest will be our warm-up for the 3rd quest, all of the three quests even lead to the same location" Jayden said to me

He was right, but the 3 wolves will be our third Fight with animals, the second are the boars and the first ones were the goblins yesterday. Can we even learn that fast on how we use our swords?

"Are you sure? That quest are for Journeyman's, well, I mean there are the two of you, you both have a high chance of finishing the three wolves quest, if you both finished it, I can give the both of you an apprentice rank with a card" the lady said to us

She is also right but I'm still not sure if we're going to defeat the wolves easily but 600 gold coins, damn.

"Okay okay, we'll take the quest" I said to her

Jayden happily took the three scrolls, the two of us went outside of the village and went straight to the East Forest....wow, we're still not inside of the forest but the entry is already beautiful.

We both followed the path and went in, we looked around for the herb, before we came, the lady said to us about the style of the herb. I found it on the sidewalk and it's exactly 3, I gave the herbs to Jayden. Now, the boars, the lady said we'll just bring their tails.

There's a lot of clearing in this forest

Both of us stopped, it sounded like a crisp of dried leaves when stopped on. It came from our right, there is 1 boar just standing.

"Hey, use your bow and arrow, don't miss" i whispered to Jayden

"What, I don't know how to use this f*ckin bow" he replied

"Just try it, and didn't you say that the boars are our warm-up before the wolves" I said back to Jayden

He realized what I just said, he took out his bow and loaded it with an arrow, he stretched the string and raised his bow, he pointed the arrow to the boar. I waited for him to scope it properly, he aimed patiently.

*Swoosh*

Jayden released the string, the arrow traveled at a super fast speed and hit the boar somewhere on the stomach, the boar fell and cried on the ground out of pain, we both went to see the boar, it died instantly when we just arrived, maybe Jayden hit its vital point, okay I thought boar's will put up a fight, I'll take back what I said from the guild.

Jayden took out his dagger and cut the boar's tail and put it in his sack, four more, we found another one.

*Swoosh*

Jayden hit the boar's vital point, we found another again

*Swoosh*

And another

*Swoosh*

We cut the fourth boar's tale, now the last one, we looked around for the last one.

*Crickle*

We heard a dried leaf crisp we went to look. We found the last one but, it's different from the others, it's big, if the boar stands up like a human it will surpass my height.

Jayden readied his bow, he aimed, patience, patience, and patience.

*Swoosh*

*Squeaaaakkk squeaaaakkk*

It squeaked out of pain, sorry boar, but you've been causing trouble to the local farmers and travelers...huh? What is it doing? Is it charging it us?

"GET DOWN!" I yelled at Jayden

We jumped to our sides to avoid the boar, the boar charged past us. We stood up fast, we both ran and distanced ourselves from the boar. Jayden readied his bow, the boar stopped charging and looked at us, the boar charged his feet ready to charge at us.

Jayden reloaded his bow and took aim to the boar, he aimed carefully and precisely. The boar charged at him, as the boar closed in, Jayden released his arrow and hit the boar's side. Yet, the boar looks unharmed and still charging at Jayden, dodging the boar.

The boar suddenly faced me and charged at me with its pointy tusk, it's the tusk that is dangerous here. I took out the spare dagger Jayden gave me when we were still at the entrance of the forest, he just said just to make sure. I dodge the boar's attack finding the perfect opening to land a strike.

I close in to the boar, avoiding its sharp tusk. I strike my dagger to the side of the boar, delivering a painful blow. The boar squeaked out of pain and stunned by my counterattack and took my dagger out of the boar.

I saw Jayden readied his bow again, he aimed and shoots the weakened boar. The boar's strength wanes as it staggers, its furious charge coming to a grueling halt.

I ran back to Jayden to regroup and stand side by side. I ran to the boar with my dagger aiming for a vulnerable spot of the boar, Jayden reloaded and aimed his bow at the boar.

I stabbed again the boar's side and ran away.

*Swoosh*

Jayden's arrow pierced the boar's side, the boar finally went to its knees, the boar died to its injuries, we both breathe heavily. I might have the double tire here since I'm still using my heavy armor while running.

I threw the spare dagger back to Jayden, Jayden cut off the boar's tail and put it in his sack. I carried the big boar and piled it the recent boars we hunt, we carried to boars so that we can sell it and use one to bait the wolves. I'm still thinking about the wolves before doing the task, I hope we made the right decision to hunt them.
