Dylan got transmigrated inside a popular game "MMORPG: Magic Art Online". A game where the strongest profession was mage. He discovered that he was just an NPC and he was actually in the game 10 years before the players would arrive! Fortunately, he got three golden fingers! "Leveling Deity," which gives him unconditional 300 levels every two years regardless of the realm he was in. "Gamer Experience Multiplier" exps he received from all sources, and all forms are multiplied by 500! With these cheats in possession, Dylan officially became the fastest leveler of all verses and, perhaps, the strongest NPC. Albeit, cheater. The game boasts multiple versions. The first version: Invasion of the Demons. The demons began to invade the kingdom of Azir under the orders of one of the Demon Lords. The players must stop the Demon Lord to proceed to the next version of the game! Dylan needs to become stronger as an NPC before the arrival of the players. Unlike the players, once he dies in the game, he dies forever! He needs strong enough strength to survive and help the players to stop the demon invasion. It's also an opportunity to level up! Dylan, with the help of three cheats or innate talents, "Split Soul," "Leveling Deity," and "Gamer Experience Multiplier," now had the confidence to surpass the undying players and exploit the opportunities in the game with the help of his past life memories! Lastly, he found that he could also upgrade his Innate Talents! [You consumed 10,000 points to upgrade an innate talent. Gamer Experience Amplification (Purple) --> Gamer Experience Multiplier (Gold)] Gamer Experience Multiplier (Gold): Experience that comes from all sources and all forms are multiplied 500x! It also multiplies the effect of Leveling Deity by 2x due to their similar nature. -Innate Talents- Gamer Experience Amplification (Purple): You have the heart of a grinding master. You are blessed by the God of Games. Experience points gained from all sources in all forms are multiplied by 10! Leveling Deity (Black): This innate talent has the characteristics of transcendence and is above even the time river. You are the lord of level-ups, the one and only. Every two years, you unconditionally gain 300 levels no matter what realm you are in, directly skipping three major realms every two years. Split Soul (Black): Allows the you to split your soul. The number depends on your level. You can let your split souls possessed all types of creatures (monsters, humans, aliens, beasts, demons, any type of race, etc...), and when your sub-bodies die, you will inherit their entire lives worth of knowledge/memories, all their talents, skills, and experience for yourself! Note: This book consists of super fast level-ups, fighting boss monsters, interacting with fellow NPCs and players, cheating, various professions, and mythical creatures like elves and dragons.
Dylan looks around with curiosity. "Churches really look solemn. There is just this sacred atmosphere that one can't desecrate." He sighed.
"Go let's meet the priest. Since we're here already." David hummed in a good mood.
Dylan stopped walking and looked ahead. There are lined up wooden long chairs. In his estimate, there are a total of hundreds of them. Then, as now, he could see four stone statues of angels that were holding swords. The swords were actually torches due to the dancing flames on the tips.
'I finally felt how it feels to be in another world. This kind of vibe is something you would only feel watching movies and anime.'
Dylan let out a sigh.
In just a few moments, Dylan and David stood before a man donned a white robe. Dylan felt that the aura of the man in front of him was enough to purify his sins. Unconsciously, he began to view the man with respect.
"This is Priest Howard. The Cleanser of Anoholic Mountain..."
The priest, who was reading a book, looked up at the two visitors. He lifted his glasses, closed the book in his hand, and opened his mouth to say:
"Are you here for the task I posted on the mission wall in town? Good timing... I'm just about to let them update the task paper."
Dylan looked at David with his brow raised. "What's the meaning of this?"
"Actually, I brought you here not only for your safety." David cleared his throat with an awkward expression. "I'm struggling with financial lately. Then, I went to the mission wall where folks of all walks of life post tasks there for adventurers and mercenaries to accomplish."
"Of course, even normal townsfolk like us could take a task as long as the difficulty isn't very high."
"Most people who don't have professions treat the mission wall as their lifeline. There is a mission there. D-level difficulty, needs two people to perform. So..."
"Hell no..." Dylan immediately refused. "You want me to fucking go with you? With D-level tasks. That's a damn suicide!"
"The reward is 20 silver coins. I'll split it 50/50. I only need someone to carry my bag. As for hunting the Savage Deer. Leave it to me!"
Do you think that is enough to entice me!?" Dylan shook his head. "So when are we going?"
The priest and David looked at Dylan.
"..."
How could someone be so shameless?
The corner of David's lips couldn't help but twitch. He didn't expect that Dylan was such a fellow. However, he was still happy that Dylan agreed. He feared that he would run away at the first mention of D-Level when the task wasn't really that dangerous.
DING! Successfully received a D-level quest!
Dylan read the description. As long as the task was successful. The game would reward him with one skill stone! This is too profitable!
Yes, the rewards from the priest and the game itself were separate things.
The priest cleared his throat to get the attention of the two. "I take it as both of you are taking the mission I posted... Well, since that's the case. I will fill you with more details."
"As long as you hunt the savage deer that was rumored to have been whispered by the devils. I'll give you two additional 10 silver coins aside from the original 20 silver coins."
Dylan and David were visibly happy as they'd heard it. Dylan's eyes almost took the shape of Dollars.
Who could blame him, though? He was poor as fuck now! He couldn't even afford an Inn to sleep with.
As for the reward from the first task. That was just enough for bread and a drink for the whole day. How could he survive with that!?
He doesn't want to be the first transmigrator to die due to hunger. That's too humiliating!
"Father, what do you mean by whispered by the devil?" Dylan felt the task wasn't as simple as just hunting the savage deer. Even in the game, he hasn't heard of this task at all. Probably, because players cannot trigger the task from the mission wall. Only NPC's could take missions from the wall. Dylan is considered an NPC in the game now!
The priest's face turned solemn as he placed his hands behind his back. A classic NPC move. "It means that the devil once possessed the savage deer. Most of the time, after a year, animals that got whispered by the devil evolve into demonic beasts. Unfortunately, we are currently short of manpower to take care of it. More so, the forces of the church were currently guarding the outskirts of hell mountain to prevent another beast tide."
"Thanks, Father. We won't disappoint you!" David bowed.
...
Outside the church, David and Dylan let out a sigh. The presence of the Father was so holy that they felt dirty.
"So what is the level of the Savage Deer we are hunting?" David broke the silence.
"Level? What's that?" David looked at Dylan in wonder.
David: "..."
Damn, he forgot that he's not with a player but with an NPC!
Dylan coughed and just changed the subject: "Never mind... I mean how strong is our target?"
"Strong... However, don't worry about it. Let me take care of it. You're just responsible for carrying the loot once we finish. I just really need you to fill in the slot because Father wouldn't have agreed if there's only one person to perform the task."
"Why is that?" Dylan asked.
David smiled. "What do you mean?"
"Why is there a need for two people?"
"How would I know? It was Father's requirement. He's the one who issued the task, so he has to decide on the requirements. Maybe because it's for the safety of those who want to perform it? After all, two is still better than one, right?"
"Makes sense." Dylan smiled.
...
*Huff* *Huff*
"I didn't sign up for this!"
Dylan panted with tears. He used his utmost strength and threw David's bloodied corpse into the bush. Then he also hid inside with his pale face and his hands shaking.
One would wonder what happened...
They left the town with great fanfare to hunt the mission target but doing that was actually a mistake.
David could really fight the Savage Deer at first. Well, at first... However, the Savage Deer wasn't simple. It was on the verge of evolution. Dylan, through the help of the panel, discovered that the deer only needs to eat two people for its evolution. This is a pitfall dug by the priest!
