Prologue

Zephyr's PoV

"Lumina! Hang in there!"

"I... I don't know if I can still make it, brother... My hand, I-I can't!"

It was a cold, ruthless night- not even a single star can be seen. The winds simultaneously whistled harshly, countless raindrops kept on pouring down as lightning flashed like a sudden glimpse of lines painting the whole sky, and thunder roared like fearful lions prowling amongst the clouds...

I found myself lying on the wet cemented ground, with wet clothes due to the seemingly endless rain. My sweat and tears combined as I feel the pain in my right arm and legs. As soon as I realized, we were in the middle of nowhere, and on the edge of a knife, crying and begging for help.

Flashbacks suddenly appeared in my mind. Lumina and I had a fun time at the park since it was Sunday today, but only lasted as we saw those dark clouds forming above the afternoon sky.

We hurriedly head home but the rain caught us in the middle of the road, and now we're on the edge of a cliff. Due to the low visibility and the slippery road, I lost my balance- I heard a soft crack in my right arm as my legs strangled into my bicycle, yet Lumina was tossed towards the edge of the cliff as I suddenly grabbed her hand just to keep herself from danger.

It's been several minutes that we're on the edge of the cliff- where the bottom part cannot be seen at all. I can still see my bicycle with a broken handle beside me, but the worst part is that my little sister- Lumina, struggling to keep up, but the rain made it difficult to maintain.

She was still on the edge of the cliff as I begged her not to let go. I tried to pull her up, but I might lose my grip from holding her, and I can't hold her with my two arms due to my fractured right arm that I'm still enduring right now.

"Lumina, please... Don't ever let go! I know that someone will save us..."

I shouted and cried for help, but no one came and answered. I tried to keep positive, although someone won't be here this late since it was nighttime, and the rain was pouring so hard. I still haven't lost hope, praying that someone will spot and help us.

Yet, I can feel that anytime, Lumina would give up...

"Brother, it's no use..." I can hear Lumina crying, but I still tried to keep myself in control.

"Don't say anything like that Lumina! I'll gonna save you and it's a promise! Please, don't give up!" I suddenly let out a burst of tears as I felt that I'm slowly getting weaker.

"Brother, please. Cease this at once. I know you're in pain, your other arm, and your legs... Please save yourself. There's nothing you could do to lift me..."

"Lumina, please! I won't mind my pain and suffering, because my only wish for now is to save you from there! Don't even think like that, it's not helping us!!"

I tried to move my right arm but it was immobilized. I tried to stand up but I don't have my right arm to support me on standing, and both of my feet strangled on my bicycle, making me as weak as ever. Lumina, on the other hand, has no injuries, yet her situation is much worse than mine- she might fall anytime, and that's the only thing I don't want to happen.

"Brother, if this will be our last conversation, I would like to say thank you- you were the best brother I had. Thank you for letting me enjoy my day at the park today together with you, and I will never regret that you became my brother, Zeph..."

"Get a hold of yourself Lumina! You're not going to die, and I know it! Please keep on holding my hand and don't ever let me go!!" I struggled to keep holding her, but the rain made it difficult for me to keep up. I suddenly saw Lumina smile painfully as she spoke again:

"Stop struggling brother, it's no use. There's nothing we can do about this. As much as I want to enjoy being with you but... I guess this is where it ends." Lumina started to cry as I felt she was losing her grip on holding me.

"Lumina- get a hold of yourself! You wanted to spend more time with me right? Then be strong and hold on! Don't be the first one to lose hope- you know that I will never let you go!"

I cried in agony, yet Lumina just smiled at me as if she was not afraid of death anymore. I struggled more and more to keep her up, as I suddenly heard Lumina's final words:

"Thank you, brother Zeph. Please... don't forget about me..."

"Lumina, no! Lumina! Lumina!!!"

In an instant, I lost my grip on her hand, making her fall to her death. She quickly pulled something from her neck and tossed it to me, along with those tears and her sweet smile embedded on her face...

"Lumina!!!"

My vision became blurry as I felt my heart beating so fast. My head was spinning and I started to lose consciousness. Yet in an instant, a black car suddenly stop in front of me, and out came a man who carefully lifted me and placed me in the back seat, while his partner carefully wrapped a towel on me as well as gave some first aid to my fractured body.

I can still see my bicycle that man was lifting as he placed it inside the trunk of the car, and that thing Lumina tossed to me before she fell from a cliff-

Her silver necklace with our picture inside the diamond-shaped pendant...

As I lost consciousness, one thing made me realize that I... lost my little sister.
