Roselyn stared at the man sitting in front of her with a smirk decorating his luscious full lips. She hated herself for still being able to get distracted by his pretty face after what he had done to her. But no matter what, it couldn't be denied that he was insanely handsome.
"I know that I'm handsome. But if you keep looking at me like that, I will feel shy." The man said in a mocking tone as he gave her his signature smirk.
Roselyn struggled to get free so that she could slap the stupid man and make him stop smirking like he had won some sort of battle. However, the black vines that were tying her to the chair tightened their hold on her and stopped her from moving at all. One of the tendrils even zipped her with a slight electric shock, causing a hiss to escape her lips.
"Careful sweetheart. Those thunder vines won't show mercy if you will keep defying their boundaries." The man warned her as he relaxed in his chair as if he was there for vacation.
In response, Roselyn just glared at him. She could still feel the sting of his bite on her throat and the feeling of the wrongness of the act was still fresh in her mind and soul. His bite had created some sort of connection between the two of them that she could sense but couldn't comprehend just what kind of connection it was yet.
"Can you at least tell me why I'm here?" She asked him as she looked around the small empty room where she was being currently kept hostage.
"You were supposed to be here because Prince River has some business to sort out with you. But now you are here because of that bite." The man responded in a lazy tone as he signaled at the bite marks on her neck.
She was ready to ask him who this Prince River was and what business he had to sort out with her when they were interrupted by the loud and heavy footsteps that boomed outside the room. Barely a couple of seconds later, the door of the room flew open as a man entered inside.
Everything happened so fast that Roselyn barely noticed it until the newcomer had already crashed her attacker on the other side of the room with a powerful blow of air magic.
If she wanted to enjoy the scene, she didn't get the chance because right after the attack, the newcomer made the stingy vines untie her as he pulled her out of the chair and crashed her back against the nearby wall before caging her there with his body nearly pressed against hers and his hands resting on either side of her shoulders.
Her heart was thumping loudly in her chest at the sudden adrenaline rush and the shock that had taken over her. Her amber gaze collided with his icy-blue ones and it felt like fire and water started a war at the moment.
If her attacker was handsome, then this new man could give the former a run for his money. Shoulder-length dark brown hair, Ice-blue eyes, sharp jawline, and thin lips that were currently morphed into a straight line. He was tall, probably six feet or something, and his well-built body just added plus points to his beauty.
She found his eyes moving away from hers and landing on her throat, specifically on the spot of the bite, and she heard the growl-like sound that left his lips as he closed his eyes for a mere second. He seemed angry, almost as if he was about to blow up the entire room.
"Prince River, it was a mistake." Her attacker spoke from somewhere on the other side of the room and Roselyn realized that the gorgeous person standing in front of her was the said Prince. The one who had some important business to sort out with her.
"It sure is, Kaito." Prince River said in response as he turned away from her to glare at the man named Kaito. Though she could no longer see his face, the look on Kaito's face told her that he didn't like whatever expression he saw on the Prince's face.
"You warned me yourself that being a Light blood Royal, she will be tempting. You should have prepared for such slight mistakes." Kaito defended himself as his eyes landed on Roselyn for a mere second before he returned his attention to Prince River.
"To avoid such mistakes, I warned you before you left for this mission. Besides, what you did was not just a slight mistake. You haven't just bitten her, you have initiated a mate bond with her. You have initiated a mate bond with my mate!"
Prince River's words rang loudly in Roselyn's ears as the word 'Mate' registered in her brain and settled down. The realization of what the Prince's words meant hit her hard and left her in complete shock and terror.
"What are you talking about?" The words left her mouth in a whisper but she was sure that both men had heard her clearly though they decided to ignore the question. "I asked what are you both talking about?" This time her voice boomed through the walls of the room.
Both Kaito and Prince River turned their attention to her and the latter took a few steps in her direction to close the space that had been created at some point during his conversation with Kaito. "Can't you feel it, Princess?"
Princess? Yeah! They seemed to know her identity. But what did he mean by his words? What she should be feeling?
Roselyn took a deep breath to calm down her senses so that she could strive for the presence of any sort of unknown presence in her body and she did find it.
It was there! Not in the way she expected, but it was indeed there. Not just one but two dark threads linking to her heart and soul... the threads of mate bonds.
