Chapter 10 - Hello, little One (2)

*Boom!*

As Ravriel lunged towards Reve, the air crackled with an intense energy. Reve was quick on his feet, dodging Ravriel's fist with a lightning-fast sidestep. He could feel the raw power emanating from the titan, but he remained focused, waiting for the right moment to strike.

It came soon!

With a deft maneuver, Reve placed his hand on Ravriel's large arm, feeling the flow of energy coursing through the titan's bulging veins.

He closed his eyes, visualizing an analytical map of Ravriel's body, searching for any weaknesses he could exploit. It was a skill he developed when studying [Morai] to induce a weakness effect on his target, but its effect was limited right now.

Not when he didn't have his telekinesis. Somehow, he had lost the ability when he came to this world. He guessed it was probably due to the trauma from the spatial jumping. It closed his mindscape.

Reve attempted to soften Ravriel's momentum with a few touches. He baited Ravriel, pulling him in, and struck his lower abdomen with his elbow, sending him tumbling to the opposite concrete wall.

But it was useless. In a few seconds, Ravriel was back to his feet, his confident smile taunting Reve.

Suddenly, Ravriel vanished from his sight, moving so fast that he manifested a golden blur. The titan reappeared instantly, gutting Reve's body with his razor-sharp claws.

"Gurgg!" Reve felt his body summit to Ravriel's control.

The titan grabbed Reve by the face and plunged him into the sturdy ground, creating a huge crater. Ravriel continued his attack, and the floor quickly gave way, sending them both tumbling to the basement.

Ravriel snarled, watching as the darkness of the basement swallowed them, "The mere sight of you, Reve Amethyst, is a disgrace to my kind. I must say this is quite disappointing. Where is the defiant spirit I heard about?"

Ravriel looked down at his hand and smiled. He was going to continue plummeting his brutal actions but realized Reve had escaped while he was speaking.

Ravriel's voice dripped with disdain as it surveyed the entire basement, "Why do you seem more like a rat than a titan?"

A voice whisked into his ear from an unknown direction. "Give me a break, Ravriel. Go back to where you came from. Really, there is no use tormenting an innocent heart like mine."

Reve hid in the darkness and used his technical skills to keep throwing Ravriel off with his voice. In truth, he was buying time to heal, which would take tens of minutes, but he knew, sooner or later, Ravriel would catch a hint.

While he wasn't used to stealth fights, his skills suited this situation. He could slowly weaken Ravriel's strength as he healed.

'I just have to make sure not to get caught. Ravriel is crazily strong. For god's sake, he pulled me down ten floors. I can't even do that to myself!'

Understanding his plan, Reve hid behind a pillar and shouted, "Hey, Ravriel, how are you here? Last I checked, it's not possible for titans to escape Sheol without the shards. And even if you have the shards, you would need a ritual to break it."

Ravriel replied, his voice switching tones, "We have our means. How do you know so much when you never concern yourself with us?"

Reve instantly moved away before Ravriel could locate him through his voice

"Hmmm… so you are not here physically. That's why you still can't kill me. And that's why you look so normal. I would have thought you had an absolutely hideous form. You know, gigantic, monstrous, and stuff like that."

While he ranted, his mind raced as he went over Ravriel's words looking for something that could spark inspiration.

If Ravriel wasn't here physically, then there must be a loophole in his current state.

His spirit or whatever must be tied to this body. If Reve killed the body, he would dispel Ravriel, but he couldn't do that. Ravriel would kill him before he could even try.

'But he is killable after all.' Reve smiled.

There was hope. He wasn't going to die today.

Reve settled his mind and charged towards Ravriel, dodging a sudden attack by mere inches. He aimed for Ravriel's gut with a fierce punch, not giving Ravriel time to think as he went for his leg with a mean leg sweep.

Ravriel stumbled but managed to regain his footing, causing Reve to feel a sharp pain in his leg as he fell to the ground. As he rolled, he felt his leg throbbing with agony, but he forced himself to stand back up, ready for the next attack.

Ravriel sneered, "You can do everything you want, but it is futile. There is a clear difference between us. You are smart. You should know that by now."

Reve gritted his teeth and zoomed through the air instantly. But Ravriel was waiting for him, claws outstretched!

Reve caught the claw with his left hand, trading an injury for a chance to strike. With a quick, soft palm, he sent Ravriel flying backwards.

Reve's eyes scanned the basement fervently.

He needed a distraction, and he found it in a wooden plank lying nearby. He hurled it at Ravriel, who smashed it to pieces with his claws.

But Reve wasn't done yet!

With a low slide, he surprised Ravriel with an agile kick to the face. As Ravriel raised his hands to block, Reve spun in the air and landed a devastating counter-kick to Ravriel's midsection, sending him into a cement pillar.

The ground shook, and Reve realized with horror that the building was collapsing.

He shot a meaningful glance at Ravriel. 'That should be enough, shouldn't it?'

Everything he had done was for that attack. There was no way it had no effect, was there?

'Whatever. I'm not going to be buried here. I have to leave.'

Suddenly, a voice sifted into his ear, taunting him. "That was good, but what did you think? You are going to have to do better, Reve Amethyst."

Before he could react, Ravriel seized Reve's leg in midair and cruelly slammed him to the ground.

Reve writhed in agony, coughing up blood as his [Morai] state slowly faded away. His injuries were overwhelming and even his titan physique struggled to keep up with his blood loss.

As he lay there, helpless and defeated, Ravriel's voice taunted him, "For a titan, you are a disgrace. You don't know, do you? The only thing holding you back is yourself. Where is the Beast that caught the eye of Mother?"

Ravriel's tone was that of a pained creature.

He groaned, "Where is the Beast, Reve Amethyst? Do you hate yourself so much that you suppress something intricate to your entire being?"

The building shook again.

Ravriel grabbed Reve and left the building just as it was about to collapse. However, an orb-like object hurtled toward him.

The moment it landed on his body, it sent forth a gravitational push that repelled Ravriel back to the basement as it collapsed.

As Reve fell to the ground, he felt himself being caught by a strong and agile figure. He barely had time to catch his breath before they dashed away from the scene.
