Drawing Eyes

Seeing his opponent standing so fierce, Ezra thought of a great idea. Wasn't it too much for him to show his capabilities? And expose his actual strength? It was better to do things in a roundabout manner this time.

Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap

Footsteps were heard in sequence, as Ezra ran towards his opponent with quite the normal speed. People observing from the side couldn't quite put a finger on the situation. Wasn't this the person personally being tried by the Guild Leader himself!? Why was he so ordinary, from his clothing to everything! Lee was definitely feeling a bit ashamed.

'Is this brat planning on making me lose face? Damn!'

Even Ezra's opponent was shocked by these happenings that he forgot himself a bit.

BAAMM!

"Huh? What, just happened?" The C rank tank said in confusion. He was a bit lost looking at his opponent run like a normal man, and the next second he was on his back.

This was the similar thought going through everyone's heads at the moment, seeing the situation before them. The entire actually fell silent because no one even saw what happened. Maybe it was because no one was expecting it, so no one caught what actually happened.

"I even made him fall to his back, is that enough?!" Ezra said, looking at Lance.

Lance himself wasn't paying much attention initially as everything transpired, because he was distracted, so even his A class senses didn't catch what happened. He was a little short of words.

"W-well, yes. That is, enough?" Said, Lance, in a bit of discord with his self.

'I didn't see anything! How am I supposed to rank him now?' If it wasn't for Lee distracting him, he would have seen everything.

"Wait!"

'Good! GOOOD!!' Lance exclaimed in his mind, as the C rank tank stood up.

"One more time! Just, one more." The tank said.

It really would be too embarrassing for him if things ended like that. Ezra looked at the Guild Leader for a while, who seemed to fake business.

"Fine, you asked for it." Ezra said.

'I can't even say he is arrogant.' The tank thought to himself.

Everyone peeled their eyelids and kept aside this time so they wouldn't miss a thing. This time, the tank didn't wait for Ezra to attack first, as he was not trying to be tricked by his opponent's antiques again. So, he pushed forward towards Ezra with a fist sticking out, ready to punch him into oblivion, as it seemed really imposing.

To his surprise however, he once again didn't see what happened, and the next time he blinked, his back was again, on the floor.

"Fuck, do you lose vision if you keep your eyes open constantly?"

"No, you just masturbate too much."

Those watching from the side could barely catch what happened, even after peeling off their eyelids not to miss that particular moment. Unlike them however, there were some who saw a glimpse of what happened, and those that saw everything clearly.

'That speed and reaction time, B rank, definitely.' Lance said in his mind.

The C rank tank was left, once again confused on how he got to where he was at the moment. It was just too fast.

"VERY GOOD! Hahahaha. I am glad to have someone of this caliber in my guild." Lance said, dragging all attention to him, before everyone's eyes traced back to Ezra.

'I ended up dragging attention in the end.'

After some talking, Ezra and Lance left the training hall, together with Lee and June. Lee left shortly after, as he had some more things to take care of, and left Ezra to Lance, after all, he was now part of the guild as an unofficial member.

"That was some match, hahaha." Lance said.

-"I tried my best." Ezra responded.

'Look at him trying to be modest.'

"Anyway, I only assessed your speed and such, so I'll say that is your strong suit. You did mention that you had no particular skill, so do understand that I can't give you a rank higher than C." Lance said. He expected some refusal and such from Ezra, so he had already prepared his points in advance, but to his surprise, Ezra accepted his proposal wantonly.

It was simple, to Ezra, acting as a mysterious character was the best, after all, he wasn't planning to remain in the guild, and when the time came, he would naturally proceed with his plan.

Both of them headed back to the Guild Leader's office and discussed a few things. Salary and the percentage earnings in different scenarios. The guild also provided a house for Ezra and a car. He insisted against it, but there was only so much his voice could do.

In that short time, the Leader, Lance, had his hunter ID made and delivered to the guild and Ezra picked it up. It was so easy for these top guilds.

"It's not that easy. I just happen to know the right person is all. As much as possible, this should be a secret, under no circumstance is anyone to find out about this." Lance warned, with a fierce tone.

"You don't have to worry about that." Ezra said, before leaving.

Today he would have to trek back to his new home or use public transport. The car was going to be ready within the week.

As Ezra left, the secretary, June entered Lance's office...

"Another stressful day, sir?" She said.

"Hmm. That boy, I can't help but feel like he looks familiar." Lance said.

"You've seen a lot of people over the years, Sir, perhaps he resembles someone you've seen before?"

"Maybe… Whatever."

.

.

"Have I changed that much? No single person recognized me. Though, I did put on a mask throughout, except for that time in the Guild Leader's office." Ezra said to himself, as he waited by the road to get a taxi. (A normal face mask… Not an Oni mask.)

'Or maybe these brutes that know only to fight and kill don't watch the news.'
