27 Internal Conflicts

--- Marquês Joseph Ranseur Point of View ---

The shocked eyes on everyone's face from the Viridian Grand Master statement was pretty obvious.

'It seems that ignoring Sani's death was worth it in the end. So strong at an age like this... Scary to think what it will be like in a few years.'

The Grand Master of the Valzor house is a master of the lightning element, after hearing this he quickly turned to Kluster and asked.

"Are you sure about this? I could use someone like him."

"Yes, I am sure. Why don't you stay with that boy from before, I think his name was Edward... I bet he will be more than enough to be sent on yours suicide missions Adel."

Adel Launath was known for being invincible on the battlefield but also for being extremely calm, yet a tension was felt between the two.

"You know very well that my work needs to be done by someone, not to mention that if they are determined enough they will have nothing to fear."

"But what's the real problem with that? Most of the new blood is of no use at the end..."

"If it is your final decision then I will not continue to interfere, but I need new troops, so I need to know if there is opposition here against the other boy too."

Kluster and the other Grand Masters of Plenty and Malior agreed with the head.

"Then a Fire Mage appeared among the common population after so many years. Congratulations Marquis Ranseur, you found a big pot of gold."

"Thank you very much Marquis Elum, I just hope he is well after all this."

'Your poisonous snake, changed your attitude very quickly.'

--- Gremory Point of View ---

I wake up in the infirmary with 4 healers on my side.

My body aches, every breath is filled with blood in my throat.

"What's wrong, nothing works on him." One of the healers spoke.

The tension on the healers' faces was clear as they tried to heal Gremory but without any effect.

'Why do I feel this hunger again? I must have been crushed by those golens...'

'I must have been hungry after healing, yet I feel like everything is broken inside me.'

"Sorry boy, your situation is beyond our capabilities, I wish I could help you, but I'm almost exhausted" Another healer spoke to me.

'Who said you couldn't help me?'

With the little strength that I recovered I raise my hand and cast shadow impulse twice, killing the healers on both sides of the bed.

I open my shell and feel the refreshing sensation as black energy is used to repair my body.

The healers' bodies turn to dust as I rise from the bed fully recovered.

"Yet... I am still hungry." I spoke to myself

But then I realize that the infirmary is not empty.

An extremely beautiful young woman, with scars from burns on her face wearing a red robe is standing on one of the walls staring at me.

'Shit, I have to kill her too now.'

"You are hungry after killing 4 rank C healers? Your tastes for food really seem quite peculiar" She spoke.

I cast Stickyt in my hands and I stand in guard.

"Haha, you're really hungry yet. My name is Layren Bhuor, but you can call me Layren"

"Nice to meet you, I am Gremory, but I suppose you already know that" I speak as I point my blade at her.

"You look worried, if you're so hungry I can get you something, we'll be family from now on" She speaks as she approaches me with her head held high, the tip of the blade touches her neck, but she slowly approaches without stopping until I lower the sword.

A little blood is seen dripping from her neck, but she doesn't even blink.

"Don't you care that I killed your allies?"

"Whose allies? I saw nothing but insignificant tools fulfilling their purpose."

'This world really sucks, first that noble one and now she... But after all, who am I to judge?'

"What did you mean when you said we will be family?"

"You'll know soon Gremory, now hurry up and go back to the arena!"

'With almost no mana right now, I think my only option is to trust her and avoid a fight.'

Finding the arena was pretty easy, I just had to follow the loud noise.

As soon as Gremory went through the gate to the region where the other participants were watching the test of the last participants. The blue-haired boy, Edward, came to him to help him walk because he saw that his leg had been broken during the fight.

But he soon realized that Gremory was having no difficulty walking.

"I didn't expect any less from the healers here, they did a pretty impressive job with you apparently." Edward spoke.

"Yeah, they really did a good job of healing me."

'Technically I'm not lying.'

"Glad to know, the audience was very discouraged after your fight. It looks like nobody managed to put a fight like you did"

"So I didn't miss anything interesting, but there was another new blood just like we, right?"

"Oh yes, she didn't make it to the third stage, but she got very close. Her element is earth."

We weren't making a lot of noise, but it was enough for that white-haired woman from before to come to us.

"Keep your mouth shut during the test!"

So we did.

The tests came to an end and none of the participants got seriously injured so a group of healers was taking care of everyone who left the arena.

That white-haired woman from before went in the middle of the arena and started to rise in the air while talking.

She must have used some kind of spell because her voice has become loud enough to be heard clearly even with all the noise in the Great Coliseum.

"It is a pleasure to stand before you here today, my name is Elfisia Mida and I will be in charge of the following ceremony. It is time for the great selection that will define the lives of these great magicians of our Empire."
