144 Let's Try That. Again.

[Sudden Surprise Chapter For No Particular Reason!]

Mitsuna was awoken by a sudden blare of music.

"Ahh!"

"I Live Inside My Own-"

Mitsuna yelped as the sound was loud enough to make the crate vibrate.

*Thud*

Punching the lid of the crate with her mana-reinforced fist before the lyrics could continue, the spell broke as Mitsuna quietly sat there.

'That's probably copyrighted for f*cks sake.'

She sighed while pressing her ear against the side of the crate.

'Can't hear anything...'

Numbing all her senses besides hearing, Mitsuna could hear the sounds of people stepping on wood all around her.

'Ok. So from what I'm hearing, I'm surrounded. Since the spell activated, the crate was most probably moved. Though I have no idea how much or even if it was moved by human hands and not just waves crashing against the ship.'

Returning her senses to normal, she laid down.

'No. I would have heard a storm or some waves if that were the case. So most likely, it was moved by someone which woke me up. Ughh. I knew I should have placed some kind of GPS thing into the spell. But I was tired what do you want from me, me?'

Slightly annoyed at herself, she felt a small rumble.

'Well, that's ominous.'

The rumble grew in strength.

*Crash*

The sound of wood creaking and bending and breaking was heard as Mitsuna flew into the wall of the crate and was subsequently buried in cloth.

"Pfffttt..."

Mitsuna pushed all the cloth and other soft material to the side while blowing out a puff of air.

'It's always something.'

Hearing a loud splash followed by suddenly having a sinking feeling, Mitsuna looked around the crate only to see water slowly leaking in.

Checking her belongings, Mitsuna sighed out of relief since her clothes were still where they left them.

'Don't want to lose my prided creations.'

Using Wind magic to blow the air around her into a sphere, she was safe from getting wet.

Removing the mana reinforcement from the crate, it was blown to pieces as most of the clothes it contained followed the wooden shards into the depths of the dark ocean.

Some pieces of loose clothing such as coats, gloves and the like were spinning around the wind sphere that kept the air in one place.

Manipulating the water underneath her, she created a small platform of extra tough ocean water.

Looking around she noticed how the ship was shattered to pieces above her.

'How the hell did that happen?! I didn't hear any of the crew members panicking!'

Mitsuna observed the surface of the water.

'Still. No storm.'

Dismissing the clear sky and steady waves, Mitsuna suddenly heard a sound reminiscent of a large whale as she froze for a moment.

Looking behind her, all she saw was a gigantic beast, 8 times larger than the ship she was on, slowly swimming past the destroyed boat. It was about 10 or so meters below her.

'...I know why people fear the ocean now.'

After having a chill down her spine, she tried to remember any information she had about sea creatures as she held her head while slowly floating to the surface.

'Come on... I had that one book that I read a few times... It didn't have anything about this beast. Did it?'

Before she could cleanly look through her memories, she heard another noise.

It came from behind her yet again.

And she froze for yet another moment before turning around.

The sound was a simple one. Almost silent even.

The sound was as if someone was blowing air through a straw into a cup of water, it was just a lot louder.

As she turned, she saw something blocking the view of the giant whale's face. A deep red stained the surrounding ocean, giving the salty deep blue a taste of red iron.

A brown cloak flew in front of Mitsuna, blocking her view for a moment.

Grabbing the coat and tossing it to the side, into the water, the previous sight changed.

It was immense.

There was a pure white, humongous almost gigantic squid-like monster sticking to the giant wale's face, slowly tearing it apart as it sucked the blood out of the ocean water and blew air out of its side.

'First a literal killer whale and now some kind of albino squid monster?!'

The four giant golden eyes of the squid moved their sight from the whale to Mitsuna as two of its nearly 18 tentacles moved toward her.

Another piece of clothing moved in her way.

Backing off while throwing the red-coloured dress that blocked her vision to the side, she could no longer see the squid.

'Camo?!'

Looking around she could see nothing, she could not even sense the two gigantic tentacles slowly blocking her escape routes.

'It can change colour, and almost instantly... F*ck this!'

Mitsuna created an Ice element spell as the surrounding ocean water froze.

A few small parts of the squid's tentacles froze over for a moment but the ice shattered and melted a second later.

'I could see them for a moment.'

Mitsuna thought.

'It's gonna attack at any moment.'

Holding her breath, Mitsuna waited a single second as the ice around her cracked and she teleported away.

Feeling how her lungs were filled with water, she rose to the surface and coughed out all the water in her system thanks to a quick water element spell.

"*Cough!* *Cough!*"

'Never... doing that... again...'

She looked below her.

I can barely sense it.

She thought as she flew out of the water and ran on it all the way to the destroyed and sinking ship.

'Now which one of these sea monster b*tches crashed my ride?'

Jumping on deck, her balance was destroyed as a large wave crashed into the ship.

Walking to the edge of the ship, she looked in the direction it came from.

'The Hell?!'

The whale was alive and harshly struggling for its life.

The squid had to turn its attention back to the whale as it had bit off three of the squid's tentacles.

'Holy!! Great timing!'

Looking at the ship which was littered with mostly burnt bodies, she observed them a little closer.

'Completely burnt. But I didn't hear any fire cracking...'

Looking back at the two beasts, she noticed how the whale was using water to toss the squid around.

'It has the [Water] element, or probably the evolved version of it considering its power. The squid on the other hand...'

She observed the squid closely.

'...'

Her eyes glazed over with a silver and gold light for a moment.

After that small moment, the squid turned one of its eyes toward her and she felt a chill.

Jumping into the water on instinct, she saw how light shot down from the sky and the ship was entirely vaporized.

Grabbing a hold of a stray wooden plank, Mitsuna hopped on as she didn't want to get attacked by the whale's water attacks either.

'The [Light] element? No, it's too strong. [Sun] maybe? I have the [Moon] element so [Sun] wouldn't be a stretch.'

She stared at the squid which started to slightly glow white.

'For some reason, I don't feel like that's correct... An Evolved element?'

Spears of condensed white light shot out from the squid, and multiple of those spears slashed through the hide of the whale.

'This isn't a place for me. Not yet. It seems as if just like the System has changed, so has the general power of most living beings.'

Mitsuna turned around.

'This should be East.'

Creating a small wind element spell at the back of the wooden plank as well as creating some attachments made of ice, Mitsuna snapped her fingers as the multi-element spell of wind and fire activated its second function.

Mitsuna started blasting off, away from the two fighting ocean beasts.

As she operated her enhanced wooden plank, she also created a small fire spell that heated up the body of the user.

'My clothes should dry well with this.'

She thought as she took a glance back at where she came from.

'So, teleportation underwater is extremely dangerous. Noted. I have to tinker with my teleportation abilities a bit. Don't want to drown anytime later. Though I could have used my [Form Change] Skill and I would have survived for a good amount of time thanks to my [Undyne] passive Skill, It wouldn't have helped much.

My entire system was flooded by water down to my veins. Or at least, that is what it felt like. Honestly, it's amazing how I thought of that [Water] spell on the fly like that. Removing all water from my body through my skin, great idea, me.'

Mitsuna praised herself as she flopped her arms around, trying to get dry faster.

'Water is so uncomfortable. A lot like sand.'

Mitsuna removed the hat that was stuck to her belt through the small wire and held it in her hands.

'Don't worry, I'm not leaving you to soak either.'

Now, Mitsuna would soon reach the West, where her adventure would continue.
