143 Traveling to the West

[Sup. You know, I just remembered that the 2nd book I'm working on is participating in a contest. This year's WSA to be specific. So I'm probably going to focus most of my stamina on that for a while. The release times of World of Reincarnators will stay at about 1 or 2 a week, basically just as bipolar as it has been till now.

Anyway, enjoy the chapter. And if you want, you can go check out Bioweapon's Cultivation. No pressure though.

'Since I am currently in the Northern part of the Old Eastern Continent I should start heading South-East. I can just make it a trip across the globe.'

Mitsuna picked her direction and started teleporting.

'I should stop by a town or something. Ask which way is the fastest to get to the shore and make my way from there.'

After a few tens of teleportations, Mitsuna took a peek at her mana.

'If I don't stop to rest I should be able to keep going for another hour or so until I'm fully drained.'

Letting out a sigh, she lamented.

'Why doesn't this world have aeroplanes or some other kind of convenient transport?'

She continued on her way, kicking the heads off the bodies of some of the monsters she came across out of boredom.

'I guess I'll travel while listening to music then.'

Creating a pair of headphones just like she had done in the past, she put them on and cycled through the songs she installed on the device.

'It's great how I figured out the method to upload the songs in my memory into a machine back at my Technomancer Dungeon Home. Super convenient.'

Landing on one that she remembered rather fondly, Mitsuna hummed along to the tune.

A simple song named Jogging. Or was it Running? Nevertheless, Mitsuna enjoyed the song as she moved through the vast landscape.

After half an hour and quite a few more good songs, Mitsuna made it to a small quaint city.

Dropping down, she neared the guards who were standing watch at the entrance while removing her headphones.

'I'll just get directions and be on my way.'

She thought as she spoke with the guards.

"Heya."

"Ah. Hello Young Miss."

"Do you know the fastest way to the Western Continents?"

"That's a pretty sudden question. Why do you ask?"

'Jesus on a... why are people so inquisitive in this world.'

"I'm a merchant and I happened to get my hands on some materials that would help quite a few people in the West while also lining my pockets. What's it to you?"

"Ah. Then it must be some rather good materials considering the Western Continents' current situation."

"Exactly. So could you just point me in the general direction?"

"But if you're a merchant then where is your cargo and this aforementioned material?"

"Dude. Just point me in the direction where I want to go. It literally doesn't have anything to do with you and I'm not even planning on entering the city so it isn't any extra work for you."

"No, part of my job is to take care of any suspicious individuals in and around the city."

The guard spoke as he stared at Mitsuna's legs and chest.

"If you would come with me so we could discern your identity."

The guard moved aside while showing the way with his hand.

'You know the average reincarnator would follow without question as if they were afraid to be punished if my manga knowledge isn't outdated. Good thing I am not a dense prick.'

Mitsuna turned and left.

'I'll just keep heading South-East. I should make it to the West sooner or later.'

"Oi! Where do you think you're going?!"

The guard started walking toward her with the other guard also joining in.

"Didn't we just invite you in? How rude can you be to a knight?!"

Turning back toward them, Mitsuna frowned.

'I don't want to talk to these kinds of idiots.'

She thought as she teleported to them and shot out a punch toward each guard.

The man she had started talking to found a Mitsuna-fist-sized hole in his stomach while the other one found a Mitsuna-sized uppercut removing his head along with his entire spine from his body.

'Alright. Anyway.'

She turned back the way she had been facing and took her leave without staying near the city for much longer.

'Honestly. This world is just filled with inconveniences and annoyances. How DO the meek people survive?'

Mitsuna put her headphones back on after a few steps and continued her teleportaional journey.

Looking at her mana first though, she thought for a moment while tilting her head before teleporting away from the city.

'I guess stamina also affects the rate of regeneration Skills. Since I haven't been moving much I shouldn't be physically tired.'

Wiping her brow, she teleported again.

'So Skills and magic also drain stamina when used? I haven't realized that yet. Must be because I've always been dashing and under stress when in battles where I have to use a bunch of magic. Or maybe they don't drain any stamina and my regeneration just isn't as good as the System makes it out to be.'

She shrugged as she teleported again, still in the same direction.

2 hours later, a few brakes and a roasted dear kebab included, Mitsuna reached an ocean.

"Ugh."

She groaned.

'I can't be bothered to teleport across an ocean. Besides, that, were the Continents always so big? Is this even the same Continent I was on before or is just one Continent divided into New and Old?'

She thought before shaking her head.

"Bah. Who cares?"

She said out loud as she scanned the shore.

'There has to be a coast side city somewhere here.'

Looking far into the distance, Mitsuna sighed.

'Good. I'll just take a ship. The city should be two or so teleportations away.'

She thought and about half a minute later, there she was.

'Okay let's hope the guards aren't annoying.'

She neared the coast side city.

'You know what? Nah.'

She suddenly thought after seeing a long line of people and carriages.

Teleporting past the guards on duty, she ended up right in the back of a merchant's cargo carriage.

'Huh. Neat.'

Hopping off, she walked up to a local and asked simply.

"Hello. Are there any ships travelling to the Western Continent?"

"Oh. Good day young lady. Yes, there should be quite a few. Some transport Adventurers and recruited soldiers while others transport cargo. Though, the cargo ships don't accept any passengers and the adventurer and soldier ships only take people who are taking part in the war. So, all in all, there are ships heading there but it would be difficult to get on those ships."

"Oh, thanks a lot for the info."

"No problem. Anything else?"

"Yeah, one thing. What War?"

"Huh? You don't know? The Western War. The situation gets worse day by day. It's a constant battlefield between the Old West and New West Continent. And the state that the Continent itself is in makes the situation worse since the terrain is so bad."

"Oh. Well, thanks."

"If you didn't want to go because of anything to do with the war then why try to go to the West?"

"Merchant. A friend of mine recommended I sell some of the materials that I managed to get my hands on. He recommended for me to sell the stuff in the West."

"Oh. Well, it makes sense but how come a merchant doesn't know about an ongoing war?"

"Small-time merchant."

"Huh. Got it, sorry for the questions."

"It's fine, it's fine. I asked you some stuff so it's only fair that you ask me some stuff. Anyway, thanks for the information, I'll be off."

"Goodbye."

"Bye."

'What a nice dude. If I were to ever start dating or something I'd take a guy like that. Probably.'

She simply thought as she made her way toward the docks of the city.

'Right, well, being found would be more likely in the soldier ships so I'll just hide in the cargo ships and wait for departure.'

She thought as she teleported next to what seemed to be the cargo ship, hanging on to the ladder on the side of the galleon-sized ship, Mitsuna waited for an opening.

Using her senses, she waited for a good minute or two so that when she came aboard no eyes would land on her.

Finding the perfect moment, she jumped on board and made her way below deck.

Dodging the patrolling crew members with ease thanks to her great senses and a little help from her high Agility stat, she made her way to the place where all the cargo was held.

Peaking in each box, she picked the most comfortable one. The one containing bedding and clothes.

Hopping in, she closed the lid and waited.

'Waiting is boring... listening to music in here doesn't sound very appealing... sleep it is.'

And so she fell asleep under all the mattress bedding and clothes after slightly reinforcing the box with mana and a small Sound element spell so that the sound would wake her up when the box was being moved.

Just picking a random sound for the spell to play, Mitsuna slightly dug under the bedding and clothes.

Mitsuna yawned.

She was tired. A bit hungry too, but mostly just tired.

She would soon reach the Old Western Continent, where her adventure would continue.
