Chapter Thirteen

Ayooni skimmed over the map that was laid on the table in the boardroom with Emman. This is the third week we are here. Yet, we haven't found anything relating to the King's body she said to him. Relax, he said we will find it, I can't help but feel we are looking at this the wrong way.

Emman knew she had been feeling frustrated lately, her daily routine since they came to this mountain as been hectic. She would practice searing and martial arts with Yemi in the morning, go to the base camp and look at the progress of the crew, she feels more productive when digging, so she digs with them, excavates the remains in the mountain, takes them to the lab that is being set up and studies them.

For three weeks, they have discovered bodies of dignitaries with a history, noting and documenting their stories from the series of tests they subjected their remains. Evolution is a beautiful thing he thought. Human flesh is made of sand and turns to dust after death but their bones could tell their stories. Ayooni could tell when a sixty-year-old dead body first had his hand broken by the feel of her hand before passing it on to an anthropometer, this was one of the reasons he had a deep respect for her.

Now, he could tell anxiety had taken over and that didn't just come from not finding the body but from her proximity to Yemi. He held her hand to stop her from rambling on. Relax dude, he said again. We will find the body and it will be fine so stop pacing and focus on the map I am sure the answer is there.

Ayooni calms her nerves slowly and places one hand on the map, the other on Emman's. You can do this he assured her again, trust yourself to find the connection. His gaze and encouraging words steadied her as they always did. Relaxed now, she found the connection and the words poured into her, filling her. She felt the beat of her heart in her mind then the beat of another and the beat of all the four all at once. She heard their fears, their trust in each other and her, she saw what they saw and heard what they heard, she walked through the path they laid for her with the beat of their hearts in hers and the one whom she pledges.

Narrow was the way but wider it goes, she found him suspended in air, water flowing from his mouth, the earth beneath him and fire burning brightly from his side, she found him lifeless at the hill of the mountain jolting from the grip that held on to her she said: "we found the King".

Finally! He exclaimed, now we can begin our journey, our story shall be of the greatest Oracle. It's time for you to choose, it's time for us to reign, and it's time he who steals you away pays the price. Come to me dearest, the door to me is opened.
