Chapter 10

Maria saw herself running deep into the woods, branches were hitting her face, and tearing her clothes but that didn't stop her from running. She didn't know what she was running from, all she knew was that something dangerous was chasing her, so she had to run as fast as she could.

Due to her not looking at the ground, she tripped on a stone and fell face flat to the ground, she tried standing up only to see that her ankles were held in place by what seemed to be roots coming from underneath the earth.

She began to panic more as she looked behind her and saw three werewolves about to come and rip her to shreds.

She felt her heart beat faster than usual, she began crying and begging for anyone to save her, the wolves came closer. And the last thing she felt was the pain of her body being ripped to shreds.

Maria woke up drenched in sweat, she felt her entire body shook in fear. When the realization hit her that it was only a dream a chuckle escaped from her lips, then it became a loud laughter.

After a while she had managed to calm down, she lay back on the bed, she tried to calm her breathing. Her hands going up to run through her hair.

She bit her bottom lip so hard that she drew blood. She didn't know what to feel about that dream, was it a premonition of what's to come, or was it just a regular bad dream.

She couldn't tell, she tried her best to fall back to sleep. Twisting and turning until she saw herself fall into a deep slumber.

Micael flipped the pancake to the other side, after making sure that that side was done properly. He picked up the pan and then gently drop the pancake on top the plate that was stack filled with dish.

He went inside his cabinet and brought out a bottle of his favorite syrup brand, pouring it gently over he watched as the syrup drip to the sides of the pancakes and onto the bottom of the plate.

He kept the syrup at the side of the counter, he then took out a fork and knife, sat on a small stool and began eating.

Usually werewolves aren't supposed to eat normal human food, their meals consists of animal flesh and sometimes it eventually graduates to human flesh. But after years of spending his time alone in this slightly big house that he borrowed from a friend of his, he has learnt to eat human being food the best way he could.

The front door open, which alerted Micael however when he sniffed the air, he was engulfed with the scent of sandalwood–which often times makes him nauseous.

"Micael! Where are you? Is that pancakes I smell?" Adrianne said walking to the kitchen and setting her eyes on the plate that was stack filled with pancakes. Her mouth watering at the sight of it.

"Adrianne," he talked with his mouth full, then he swallowed it. "How was your trip?"

Adrianne shrugged, "I couldn't find anything, so it was completely pointless."

"Bummer," Micael said taking a sip of orange juice that was freshly squeezed by him.

"This pancakes look good, mind if I take a bite?" Before Micael could say no, the pancakes started moving in the air and then gently came down on Adrianne side of the counter.

Micael glared at her, however he gave up and allowed her to finish up his pancakes.

Adrianne came from a long line of witches and wizards, that live off in a completely secluded place, so that no one would discover that they exist.

Adrianne has a knack for making potions and concoctions of any kind, something that her mom taught her growing up as a child. However Adrianne wasn't a fan of just sitting around and spending the rest of her life in a place that wasn't so beneficial to her.

So when she turned 18, she decided to explore the world at large. She first started off as a fortune teller and potion maker, using that as a means of survival. Many people from different places came to meet her to tell them their future or make potions for them, her love potions was the most popular. There was even a high demand on how effective they were and she was always making them steadily.

And oddly enough that was even how she met Micael, he came to meet her after hearing about her from locals around. The moment he stepped foot into her shop, the air became tense so tense that she could barely breathe. Plus it was also filled with despair.

He came for a palm reading to know what his future hold. What she saw in his future was more than enough to make her scared, so scared that she began shaking.

Then she saw a glimmer of light and hope in his future, and then she saw that this meeting was no ordinary meeting, that they were bounded by fate, or better still destiny to meet each other.

And so she decided to carry him to live with her deep in the woods, it was a safe space for him to hang out. Without being hunted down by the wolves of his former pack. Also she masked the smell around her house, so they couldn't discover where he was.

And so that's how their journey with each other began.

"Adrianne, you remember when I told you about my plans on getting revenge on my former pack and you told me that I should hold on. That a particular person would come along the way and that's when I should implement my plans."

Adrianne nodded her head, walking towards the direction of the kitchen to drop the plate in the sink.

"Well I think I have found the person."

"What's her name?"

"Maria Santos."

Adrianne turn to look at him, her face set in a way as if she was trying to remember something.

'Maria Santos. Santos,' that particular surname sounded familiar to her but she just couldn't put her finger on it.

It was like a foggy memory that she just couldn't remember, yet she knows who this person that Micael was talking about.

"So, yeah. I think she is the one you told me to wait for, right?"

"Hmm most definitely." Adrianne decided to drop the thought, she would figure out who the person was later on.

Micael decided that he should take his leave, but he turned around and told her: "I may or may not have mistakenly pour away your hair dye."

On hearing this, Adrianne glared at him and then things around her started levitating. And Micael realized that this means trouble, he took as a cue to run out of the house.

With a loud she yelled his name that it shook the entire foundation of the house.

With Micael being a safe distance from the house, he watched as the house started changing colors, and the sky became a darker with lightening around it, there was also a loud sound of thunder.

Adrianne was not someone you should ever mess with.
