A True Beginning

Zach died in a train crash and was reborn in a world he’d only read in books and seen in movies. The same world turned out to be less fiction and more hard reality than even his past boring life.

Ch.34

When we got back to the manor we found it crowded with magical beings that had been hunted by evil Elders and demons in a last ditch attempt to prepare for the battle. Leo sent them away and I let out the kids, my father-in-law and brother-in-law.

Paige had a Christmas wedding last month so it was in fact official. After sitting down to rest and using the last of the magic I'd taken from the Elders to bandage my wounds, I sighed. "It's done. The future is safe, our children are safe and magic is safe. Now we can finally move on with our lives."

Henry asked. "What'll happen now that you all aren't fighting demons?"

Leo said. "I'd like to get these powers out of us and continue teaching at magic school."

I chuckled. "Just use them to strengthen your mind scape. Think about what power you want each being you created to have and they'll fade away, well, except for the wings. That comes from the all and the sword's connection to it. That you need to live with. As for the sword and tome, toss them into the vault up above and no one will be able to take them out again. You'll have to do so from the doorway though."

He nodded and they all seemed to get weaker magically until Phoebe said. "I'm keeping the ability to orb for myself."

Paige nodded. "And immunity from darklighter arrows."

Piper shook her head. "Not me, I might even give up my original powers as well, even the immortality."

I sighed. "Just give it all to your creations and you'll be able to use the powers of you really want to by thinking about them, after all, they are still apart of you. Besides, I intend to live a full mortal life with Phoebe before it's time to move on to the next reality. If you'd all like to come with us, I would be more than happy to make a replica of the manors in my inner world."

Victor asked. "Don't you mean inner galaxies? I saw what happened with my own eyes."

I chuckled. "Yeah but I molded one to look and act like earth. I've rebuilt a lot there and I intend to make it a world for my immortal family. Even Patty and Penny are invited if they'd like to go and see other things beyond your wildest dreams. Adventures that you'd only find in books and movies as well as a home to always return to and see your grandkids grow up and all their descendants."

Victor smiled. "That doesn't sound half bad to retire in a place like that."

I rolled my eyes. "Hardly retire. The air there is infused with my lifeforce and even with the time you've been there you've lost a lot of grey hairs. The young can still grow up there while the old return to the peak of their youth, when their bodies were in their primes. Add immortality and you're looking at an eternity as only the gods of old knew."

Henry raised a hand with a smile. "Reserve a couple spots for us. Being able to have a literal eternity with my wife sounds like heaven."

Paige raised an eyebrow. "Oh yeah?"

She led him away and we all chuckled while I told them my plans to leave and offer the chance to all our descendants and anyone from the magical community as well. The magicals could come to me when they're getting old and get to start over with eternity and immortality.

For the next few months they did just that as I'd kept my word to the spirits and gave Penny and Patty the first chance at being immortal and seeing their descendants raised while going on adventures.

They agreed to go when everyone else did. For the next several years the magical world's turmoil blew over as the old magical beings chose to be immortal inside my inner world. Leo, Paige and I ran magic school as the huge influx of students kept us busy.

Hermione and Harry complained as they actually had to work on expanding Hogwarts as the squabs all suddenly became witches and wizards while the muggleborns had a massive influx as well.

Many other magical schools were busy as well dealing with the problem but I couldn't care less, I was too happy as Phoebe had given birth to two more daughters, P.J. and Parker Halliwell. She was currently pregnant with our youngest, Peyton.

With four daughters it was a bit hectic at first once Peyton was born but we had such a loving family to help us go through it all. Piper and Leo had a daughter finally after their two boy streak. She kept with her break in tradition and named her Malinda after the first magical matriarch of their line.

Paige and Henry adopted their first kid, Henry Mitchell Jr. then they had a pair of twins named Tamora and Kat Mitchell, breaking the cycle once more. All of our kids grew up together and while there was a few close calls with a Cupid named Coop who went dark and some zany imagery friends on occasions, the majority of the next several decades were peaceful.

Phoebe began giving love advise and helping people find love instead of answering random advice columns. Piper turned P4 into a restaurant and found her passions in raising her kids and cooking.

Paige took charge of the whitelighters, helping innocents to the schools where they could learn and grow while teaching at the same time. It was fifty years later when we were all old and grey, sitting around the fire while Piper read the story to our grandchildren that I stood up, feeling the full weight of age. "It's time.... if I don't make the change now, I'll pass on into the cycle and be reborn elsewhere."

Pandora and Chris helped me from falling and all our children helped us up. Pandora told her two girls and the rest of the children. "Watch closely, your grandfather and grand uncle will show you something not even I can do."

I huffed and took Phoebe's hand as she stood beside me. As it turns out, healing myself from that battle had taken a toll on me when I was disconnected from my vast lifeforce and only had a mortals lifespan. It had prematurely aged me and while I held it off for the later years, I now appeared to be in my hundreds, looking much older than even Nicolas and his wife.

I hummed as I made the connection and through me, each of our elder family members and kids. Wyatt, Chris and Pandora had already started to grey so they were included.

I pulled it into us all as we visibly de-aged before them. Once more at my prime, the others joined me and I gathered all my powers I'd set aside and hadn't used in a while. They made my body glow instantly and it felt damn good.

With Phoebe joining me in strength, I smiled as I felt all of them finish becoming young and even immortal again. I turned to Chris and the kids. "It's time to decide. I can leave a briefcase gate to my inner world, a unique door for later generations. The books of shadows have all the information in them."

Chris sighed. "Then we'll use it when our kids are grown up."

I nodded. "Then the apples will be waiting on the other side as well."

I looked to all our kids and grandchildren. "Each of your have done us proud and will continue to do so. Remember, this isn't goodbye, it's until we meet again."

I turned to Leo and the others and they said their goodbyes while the grandkids cried a bit and even us adults joined them. I held out a hand and a briefcase appeared in it. Pandora took it and I smiled. "I'll see you later little cub."

She smiled sadly at the nickname she'd earned for her favorite song and movies when she was younger, the lion king. After I got the last of my hugs in, I took Leo and the rest into my inner world, Phoebe stayed out by my side while we flame traveled to Europe. The Greengrass family was just as large now as ours before because of my sisters and Harry and his second wife Hermione.

He'd had eight kids and they had half a dozen kids apiece between them while my sister Astoria had married Neville Longbottom and had three kids. Unfortunately she and Neville had died with my parents one evening when a new dark lord had tried to take power.

I'd been mortal and hadn't arrived in time to do anything but Harry had skimmed them alive and left their heads to garner fear from all future dark lords. None had the balls to declare themselves during his time at Hogwarts and as a wizard he barely looked to be in his forties now.

We'd stopped by to offer them the same as the rest of our family, a trunk into my inner world where magicals were not only protected, they were the only ones there. Harry and my sisters had rejected it for now, as had their kids but then, they were barely starting out.

Nearly a fourth of this world was magical now and they wanted to stay and live here peacefully. I gave them the trunk all the same and warned them it was a one way trip. They saw us off at the department of mysteries. There is taken Phoebe into my inner world and I'd taken out the three deathly hallows.

Smiling to Harry, I placed them around the archway and channeled magic into all three. The resurrection stone spun before slamming into the top of the archway. The invisibility cloak stretched and covered the archway and finally the wand turned into a golden door handle, attaching to the door the cloak had become.

Smiling, I waved goodbye telling Harry. "Take the family heirlooms back and separate them between the kids. Warn them they aren't for fighting but for the next great adventure."

He nodded and I opened the door. Grinning, I saw a world of gods and monsters. Of green and purple titans and wizards. One of magic. Surprisingly, the resurrection stone shone bright before splitting itself and becoming two equal stones.

I heard my father's voice in my head. (Think of one power you want to keep and insert it into the stone, the rest will be locked away and all your your powers will come back once you've grown stronger in this world. You must combined all your physical bodies in this world and become strong enough to house the rest of the primordial essence by the time you leave this world. Be warned, the gods in this world are all real and aspects of their far more powerful selves. This is the ultimate training grounds for the battle of the gods!)

I thought of a power and the second stone shone bright before entering my forehead and mind. The pain was very real as I was sucked into the portal and the door slammed shut behind me.

I heard what I thought was my fathers laughter as I woke up. Darkness surrounded me except for a red light above a pale man with red eyes and white hair sitting on a throne looking both intrigued and injured. He spoke tiredly. "Good, you have finished being born my son, I name you Dark, last sion of Knull. We do not have much time, take this and remember, you are the best of me and the worst. Make those damnable elder gods pay for this!"

He helped me up wearily and shoved his sword, All-Black, into my hands, claws? Whatever, and showed me the wound the elder gods had given him. I felt a ravaging hunger consume me and he met my eyes with a smile. "Go ahead, feast, and once you're done assimilating what's left of me, enter the circle on the floor. It will transport you to the heart of our enemies. There you will feast until nothing remains."

I needed no encouragement as I devoured the man, god, creature thing. He made no move to stop me as I ate him whole. When nothing remained, I felt an odd sensation as I remembered to bring out my soul swords. I crossed them with all black and it fused with them, creating a wicked pair of black and red swords, completely under my souls command. All black lost it's will as mine took over it completely.

Growling my body morphed and shifted as I took on the appearance similar of my former life as a half-blood son of Nyx. Only my eyes were all red except my black pupils.

My claws and teeth receded and I looked almost human only very small so I can only assume I'm still a child. I put away my blades and looked around, I saw a set of armor Knull had previously worn and took it, using my symbiote like powers to adjust it to fit me. It went inside my body then came out around me fitting like a glove.

I found nothing else there so I entered the circular ring and felt like I was shot out of a cannon at the speed of light. I heard my father sigh. ( Good luck. In this universe all you're left with is your human knowledge until you regain it all by mastering magic, god force and lifeforce. Your mind is there but every human or immortal in your inner world has been seeded throughout the galaxy to help them grow as well. Your wives are in another and will be released once you reach the peak of this world. Find them and you'll find the one your mother chose for you.)

I grunted then wanted to scream as I saw where I was landing, smack dab into earth and not at a slow pace either. When I impacted, I felt thousands of creatures dying off, all with vigorous lifeforce that made my stomach rumble in hunger. Unfortunately the impact also got me stuck in the crater as it filled up with water.

I'd drown I'm sure but I don't think I can as I didn't seem to need to breath. Nor did the impact actually hurt me except to temporarily turn me to mush which I reformed from. Thinking back on it, I turned to mush again and slid out of the crevice I was stuck in before changing back and heading topside.

There I found dead dinosaur corpses that weren't entirely burnt up several miles away. It seems I'm what killed the dinosaurs from the looks of it. I began consuming the ones that weren't devoid of life force yet and moved quickly as I found a few that had survived. I ate them as well before diving into the ocean for an even bigger meal.

Finally I went to the nearest mountain to get a clear view of where I was and realized I had no clue so I staid there and waited while occasionally going out for more food until it became hard to find.

Then I went into a meditation trance to stave off the hunger. The dinosaurs and what appeared to be a distant relation to rhinos I'd been feeding on were nearly extinct and I didn't want to effect the worlds food supply that much!

I waited for civilization to catch up and when I felt a tingling sensation of the first signs of life returning in the area, it was dwarfed by the fact that I looked up only in time to be hit by a giant meteor myself!

I wanted to curse and cry but there were no tears. It hit me dead on and off I could actually feel it, I might've been more afraid, as it was it took me eons to crawl out of that damnable pit and out from under the big ass metal rock. By the time I saw daylight again, I also felt a war going on between the humans not far down the mountain on the grassy plains.

I grunted and used my arm to turn into a hammer and swung it at the giant rock. I morphed my other hand into a chisel and cracked a decent sized piece of the vibranium off. I smiled and took it into my body, adding it as a base material to my blades and the armor I wore as clothes.

It didn't require much material as vibranium was very versatile and once you understood that it was a magical substance like Uru, you could manipulate it easily enough. I couldn't do full magic or anything, but I could still break down the materials with my symbiote like body and add it to my chemical makeup.

As for my swords, that's what all-black has brought to the table. The ability to improve through absorbing better materials as well as store materials in its pocket dimension. I took an extra chunk into All-Black's pocket dimension before leaving the pit. I saw some heart shaped herbs on my way out and plucked one.

When I did I felt something watching me. Shrugging I ate it and laid down for a bit as I waited. Inside my mind scape I saw a giant panther and I smiled and bowed politely. "Hello Bast, it is a pleasure to meet a psychopomp such as yourself."

It snorted and growled in a feminine voice. "Which gosling are you?"

I smiled lightly. "One who will be a god of rebirth or chaos, as it is, I haven't decided. Though I am tied to a goddess of death as my mate."

It raised an eyebrow. "A youngling then? That is rare. Whom might I ask are your parents? Anyone I know?"

I smiled. "I am a god whose been reborn many times so I've had many parents, but I suspect you mean my godly parents. Well, my mother is Gaia, like many others I'm sure."

The panther nodded and I continued. "And my father is Lucifer."

Bast stilled. "I'll say this once, I don't advise you ever telling other gods your background. To have two primordials as your parents means something different amongst the gods. This reality has been reinforced by all six primordials so you'll find even god kings here. If they learn of your status, you'll either be drained and eaten or forced into service until they trade you off."

I stilled as well now before sighing. "That's not something I can worry about now. I need your blessings, or else I'll be forced to eat your first chosen down there on the battlefield for them. Besides, you sort of owe me for dropping a big ass meteor on me and leaving me under it for nearly two and a half billion years if my estimation is correct."

She grunted and rolled her eyes. "Fine, take it but do not harm my chosen people, I expect great things especially since one of my own children will be born from them in the age of heroes to come."

I nodded. "Then I shall look for them for the challenge then, it shall be fun if nothing else."

The giant panther nodded. "A cub cannot grow without first sharpening its claws on those who would challenge it."

I smiling I woke up with a jolt, feeling stronger, faster and my instincts heightened. I morphed into a panther and ran down the mountain and past the plains of battle I saw the warrior on. I ran farther and faster north. When I reached the desert weeks later, I crossed it still heading north.

Once I ran into ocean, I didn't hesitate and jumped in. I morphed into one of the prehistoric sharks, a megalodon. I swam to what would eventually be India and made my way to where I estimated Nepal would eventually be.

There I made my base while I wondered the world for the next four thousand years, hunting down mystical artifacts and grabbing all three of my big ass diamonds I love so much. I had to store them in my blade's pocket dimension but it was fine. I did however find the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak, several scrolls of Watoomb and the Darkhold.

Two of which I had to store in my blades to prevent myself from using the worst of and the scrolls I studied for my own magic practice. I found Atlantis but then it was already sunken anyways so most of the knowledge was lost except what the atlantians thought to teach me about their magic's.

Most were just mutant survivors who'd adapted to underwater life. After finding two of the sands of Watoomb, I'd went to the temple of Watoomb in Australia and found a few scrolls more to teach me of magic. That plus my memories of the movies and how the ancient one taught Dr.Strange, helped my own advancement in the mystic arts until I ran across another god child named Agamotto.

We became rivals and friends after a fashion and he invited me to join him in his own adventures of the mystic arts. I agreed and shared with him all I knew, including giving him the scrolls of Watoomb as I'd already learned all they had to offer. He thanked me by sharing all he knew from his mother, an elder goddess named Oshtur.

We challenged each other daily and grew in power on a constant basis as every spell he used against me, I'd absorb and mimic perfectly as if I was immune. I would then drive him relentlessly to make breakthroughs until one day we found the time stone in a cave.

I warned him of what it was and it's capabilities and together we forged the Dark Eye of Agamotto as he called it. We used it for practice and to boost our own powers until he tried using it against me in training and I absorbed and mimicked the time spells as well.

Instead of needing the eye to tap into the stone's power, I could do so naturally now. We continued to travel as companions and friends for several decades until he started to age. I offered to help him find his own source of immortality as my own was something I was born into but he declined saying he had something better to offer the future.

We set out using the time stones power and collected many artifacts of power. I myself donated one of the sands of Watoomb to his cause and he accepted graciously. We built the school for the Masters of the Mystic Arts on my lands and from there we had the task of using our combined knowledge to build the Sanctums of the Mystic Arts around the globe.

Again I offered something of value as this time it was my three giant ward stones. He's been greatly shocked and dismissed it as he knew I was old even by mystical standards so I was bound to have things useful to our project. Each of the Sanctums were greatly protected and formed a magical barrier around the planet, preventing evil mystical threats from getting in.

When we finished that project, he'd taken on a female apprentice who was beautiful by most standards and extremely skilled. I offered to teach her a few things I'd taught him about fighting and combat, and damned if she wasn't talented in that area as well.

By the time Agamotto started to get older visibly, he offered to make me the first sorcerer supreme. We'd both been dubbed masters of the mystic arts and fought against many beings, including Dormammu, but I had no inclination of taking up his job.

I told him I wouldn't take it as a sorcerer supreme must age and die like all others or else be corrupted and risk the earth's future as all immortals were greedy by nature, even myself.

He understood my words as I'd eaten a large chunk out of Dormammu and injured him severely in our last battle that saw him fleeing. Agamotto knew I craved power and the advancement of my mystic arts above almost all else as he also knew I had anchors but wouldn't tell me where or more to the point, when they were.

As his last act as a Sorcerer supreme he watched over me as I consumed the Crimson Gem of Cytorrak. It became my first battle of wills with a god and damned if it didn't feel good to eat said god's magic as he cut his connection with the gem in terror. I added the gem to my blades that already housed a pocket dimension like the gem and two binding stones.

The gem only connected to me now and I turned to the wand of Watoomb I had. I connected with it and through it to the will of the ancient Sorcerer Watoomb. There I forced it, albeit with great difficultly to teach me all it knew on magic.

When I exited the wand with my mental projection, I finally understood what was so weird about the magic of this reality. It relied on three principles, channeling from greater beings like gods, celestials and demons, channeling from dimensions, realities and nature and finally channeling the personal energy of the individuals self.

To do the last one you needed a fair understanding of what you were and the chi and life force you could tap into as mystical energy. It had in essence what I suspected I'd learned about magic since I'd first studied it and so much more.

Standing up I allowed Agamotto to check me both with the eye and his own powers, mimicking his personal powers from his mothers own blessings when he did, I sighed. "I'm fine old friend, though Cytorrak is another thing entirely. He's fled and cut of all contact with this world as I've weakened him considerably. As for the wand, keep it with the other. There are four more out there somewhere that can be used to find Watoomb's idol on earth. I'll be leaving in the morning."

He nodded then asked. "Not willing for watch this old man die are you?"

I snorted. "I've buried enough people I care about, I can't do the same to you. We've known each other for a couple centuries so you know I can't stay now. I'll write all I've learned so far down and you can pass it on the your successor."

He nodded his wizened head and sighed. "It's been a wild life."

I smiled. "That it has. And it'll be a glorious death I'm sure."

He smiled brighter than my own. "That it will. Shuma-Gorath will be sealed for good after this."

I nodded. "He will, for a great deal of time at least. I've no doubt he will be summoned again but you'll have bought the world thousands of years of peace from it's terror. A peace I intend to take advantage of and relax in."

He chuckled. "As if you'd relax."

I smiled wryly and bowed to him once more before walking through a portal I'd created with a thought to my room. There I wrote down all I'd learned with Agamotto ofver the three centuries we had together as friends and all I'd learned as a teacher as well as from the wand of Watoomb. By morning I sent it to Agamotto through a small portal with a letter saying my goodbyes.

I opened a portal to my next learning place I'd made contact with, Kun-Lun. Stepping through I was greeted by the monks there and I asked to be treated as any other novice as I needed to learn all they had to teach.

When it came to fighting, none could match me, even the grandmasters. But when it came to learning of inner chi, it took a while. I stayed in Kun-Lun for five thousand years, mastering my vast chi and gaining access to my Phoenix life force and my inner world.

I'd found it filled with magical beings and happily thriving as they had begun to over populate by now. With a thought I made a bridge to other worlds they were free to populate. I'd used the stargate method and put them on half the worlds in that galaxy.

After I let them know it was safe, they began to spread out and populate those worlds as well. Back in Kun-Lun, I was overseeing a trial where five had used the recent experiments in chi healing to try and make themselves immortal.

I looked over the familiar faces and sighed as I told them. "Each of you have disappointed me and this council greatly. As my last act as your grandmaster, I banish you from Kun-Lun, never to return. May the gods have mercy on you all because the iron fist will not if you attempt to return."

I'd tried to train them differently, to change their fates but it seems it wasn't meant to be. I stood from my cushion and waved my hand, send all five of them flying through a portal and into ancient China's rice fields.

I turned to the other grandmasters and they nodded sadly. I bowed to them and my robes changed into my armor as I stepped through my portal into Asgard, where I had a meeting with the king, Odin. He greeted me like any king to a foreigner before asking. "What brings a Seidr user like yourself to my halls?"

I sighed. "We both know I am much more than that god king."

He stilled but nodded. "So which one are you? Perhaps Zeus's child? He has enough of them."

I shook my head. "Nyx is my mother. I've not spoken to her in a while but she knows I'm here I'm sure."

He stilled at the name drop of an Ascended godking's name before asking. "And what is it that you seek in my halls son of Nott?"

I smiled. "Seeing as we're practically family, I'd like your permission to learn Asgardian magic's as well as to train with your warriors. I'm proficient in fighting so it'll only be a few bouts before I've earned their respect I'm sure."

He nodded. "Very well, and what do you offer me in return?"

I smiled. "I offer this-"

I waved a hand and a chunk of vibranium appeared on the floor before me. It was half my current supply and I suspect Bast would be upset if I went back for more so it would have to do. He looked it over and nodded. "This will make fine weapons and even better, improve our own technology. We have an accord but you must prove yourself to the warriors before I allow you to train with them."

I smirked. "That won't be a problem."

He nodded. "Very well, do you need an apple of Iðunn?"

I shook my head. "No, but I'll take one to see what it does if you're offering."

He rolled his eyes. "Hardly."

H slammed the buff of his staff down and summoned a guard to take me to the testing grounds. At first I was getting my ass handed to me but after the first few moves, I beat the guard down as my mimicking power made me as strong as an Asgardian warrior. Then after beating down a few more guards and finally a captain, they accepted that i was more skilled in fighting then they were.
