Chapter 15

Second Earth Phase :Day 8

Ray's POV

I woke up from bed and quietly dragged my feet to the bathroom to freshen up. "Took you long enough", Kobie said as he prepared breakfast. Ignoring him(as usual), I went to dress up and picked a toast of bread. "Only that?", he asked. "Yes. Or maybe you put poison in the toast too?", I smirked and picked my briefcase. "If you like any of them, take them. But don't ruin my friendship with them in the process. We would find them valuable if we want to find out about our deaths", I added.

Patrick, as usual, was waiting for me with my car. "Good morning Patrick", I greeted him. "Morning Ray. Would you drive today or i should?", he asked. I motioned for him to take over.

I decided that if we are to get more allies, i would like to engage with the fundamental people I get acquainted with, and so far, Patrick and Sydney are very helpful.

Patrick: It's Miss right?

Ray: Not here per se. It's my friend causing the issue.

Patrick: I recall Miss complaining yesternight about you not calling her after you left.

Ray: It means she didn't read my note. Good. I hope it's still there.

Patrick: I picked up Miss Sydney earlier. She has ensured that she would settle the matter before you arrive.

Ray: Thank you 'Rick.

Patrick: Always a pleasure Ray.

I arrived in the office in a much better mood, due to the splendid convo I had with Patrick.

"Ray! You owe me an explanation for.....", Amsterdam screamed, stomping her feet as she walked towards me. "Amsterdam Bourne, good morning", I greeted her and chose to tolerate her attitude for the day. Sydney held Amsterdam's hand as she attempted to slap me. "For the UMPTEENTH TIME, I saw Ray writing the note and leave it on his desk. You always check his desk whenever he leaves before you. What changed?", Sydney retorted. I pulled Sydney from Amsterdam and pushed her away to her desk.

"If you are soo angry at me, then I have to quit the job", I said to her, emphasizing on the 'quit', heavily.

She could only glare at me and turn away.

Throughout the rest of the day, Amsterdam fought with her thoughts on whether Ray should leave or not, but because Ray is an essential part of her job now, she finally gave up her anger and approached him.

"Ray?", she called to him. "I'm busy. I've got something to do at home", he hastily replied. "Unfinished business, perhaps?", she asked. "Whatever you call it, I'm busy", he replied, still irritated. She cleared her throat before she continued. "Can we talk?". "No. I'm going home. Bye Miss Bourne", he said, tugging a bewildered Sydney along. She was beyond words at how Ray spoke to her, especially calling her 'Miss Bourne' when she said it wasn't necessary since they were friends.

Friends, she thought.

Packing the rest of her confidentials into her handbag, she went to his desk to confirm if he had left any notes for her. None.

She quietly walked out of the office and sadly ordered the receptionist to lock it down. "Ma'am, any problem?", she asked, worried that Amsterdam was sick. "Not. But maybe inform Sir Ray and Lady Sydney that I might stay at home tomorrow. They can only come and visit me in the afternoon", Amsterdam replied and left. Patrick even sensed a dense air as she sat in the limo. "Patrick?". "Yes Miss?". "Home. Now".

And with that, Patrick did what he was paid to do, drive as fast as he could. Because no one could justify her feelings.

Blades Somore hated his brother, so he gave his niece a disgusted look when she arrived. "Where's Papa?", she asked, glaring at him. "How would I know? Am I your father's keeper?", he angrily asked. "Well yes, since you took my mother!", she yelled.

Augustus rushed into the hall to give Amsterdam a hug. "You look dull dear. Is anything the matter?", he asked. "If your brother could worsen my mood, why don't you ask him?!", she yelled.

The only thing Blades did was fiddle with his champagne glass and grinned, infuriating Amsterdam and she marched straight to her room.
