9 Rin....Kindergarten?

Tokyo, Japan,

Shibuya,

Samuel POV,

Samuel looked at the little girl walking beside him, her face was blank but she seemed to be radiating happiness regardless as she walked with him. Mei, who was walking a bit behind them, smiled at this, "Looks like someone is very happy.", she said slightly chuckling, it was nice to see that her daughter was excited to meet her brother and not reacting adversely.

Samuel, as always, had a relaxed smile on his face as he walked through the streets and looked around somewhat enthusiastically, "This place has changed a lot." He remarked, new buildings and revamped houses were everywhere in sight. He could see a number of people going about either heading to work or to school and a few girls had stopped looking at him, but he was already used to this and promptly paid the attention no heed.

"You're certainly popular." Mei remarked with a proud air about her, she was feeling smug about her son getting so much attention but at the same time, she would also make sure her son didn't fall in with the wrong crowd. Samuel ran a hand through his air and put his hand in his pocket, "Where is it though?"

"Only a little bit." Rin replied quickly, having somewhat closed the distance between them once she saw the stares her brother was getting, she didn't know why but she didn't like them at all. Samuel, noticing her actions, smiled and ruffled her hair, "No need to worry, I'm back for good." He reassured the little girl who nodded blankly and tried to straighten her hair.

"Look at you acting like a big brother already." Mei said giving a thumbs down to the older women that were looking at her son, she'd be damned if she let those hags make a move!

The people who were used to seeing Mei and Rin were clearly surprised seeing the young man that was accompanying them, but a few of the older people, who had seen him when he was young had begun to recognize him.

"Hey, who's that?" a high schooler said looking at Samuel, "New neighbour?" One of the girls in her little 'group' suggested looking at him, and even though they were acting fairly calm, the red on their cheeks couldn't be hidden at all. Hell, the third girl had gone completely silent with a red face as she stared at Samuel who didn't even pay attention to them.

An old lady walked up to Samuel, making the mother and son stop and look at her in wonder. Their reaction had been completely the same, which went unnoticed by both. "Is that you Samuel?" the old lady asked with a happy smile on her face, every old person in the neighbourhood knew Samuel.

The 'why' was simple, he was someone who loved listening to the stories of the elderly and often helped them out when he was young.

"You've grown up really well! Going to be a lady killer eh?" She said lightly bumping his arm making Samuel scratch his cheek with a small smile, "I dunno what to say." He said, slightly embarrassed, old people were really peculiar with their wording sometimes. "Taking little Rin to school eh? I knew you were a good young man."

A bit of praise and thanks later, she gave him some hard candy and went about her way. Samuel smiled and put it in his pocket, he wasn't going to throw this way, "That old lady is never nice." Rin commented with slightly wide eyes, she had actually seen her chasing away children that played in her garden on occasion. She looked at her brother in awe, "Are you actually a really good person?" she asked, Rin now had a new image of her brother in her mind.

"You know it's just cause those kids ruined her flowers right?" Samuel replied with a small smile, placing a hand on Rin's head. He looked at his mother with a face that said, 'What have you been telling her?' Mei simply avoided his gaze, she didn't want to talk about this.

Half an hour later, they had arrived at what looked to be a nice little kindergarten. It had a main building and several more in the shape of different fruits and a playground with several things like slides etc next to it.

He could see a number of people dropping off their children at the gates who would then run to their friends and join them. Mei tapped Samuel's shoulder with a cheeky grin, "How about you go drop off your sister, I'll go talk with some friends.", without giving Samuel a chance to talk back she nearly ran away from him, nearly instantly, she started talking with an oddly familiar blonde woman.

Rin looked at Samuel with shining eyes and he, seeing her excitement, simply smiled and started walking towards the gate with her right beside him. Rin looked around at the other children arriving with their siblings and saw them being carried or holding hands so she..... stared at Samuel's hand and making up her mind, she reached for his hands but was surprised when Samuel simply smiled and grabbed hers before she could even reach it, "You should've just said so."

"U-Um." she nodded embarrassed, proving that in the end, no matter how smart she might be, she was still but a child. And so, the brother and sister walked over to the gate where Rin's eyes fell on a small brown haired girl that reached her chin, Samuel looked at the brown haired young man holding the little girl's hand and both of them nodded at each other at the same time, a silent agreement between men! No.... older brothers!

Samuel knelt down next to Rin and patted her head with a smile, "Good luck, I'll come to pick you up too.", Samuel assured her and she visibly relaxed, he had noticed that the girl was fairly desperate for the presence of an older sibling and couldn't help but want to dote on her as a result.

Rin nodded and ran towards the other girl who waved her hands smiling widely. Samuel smiled fairly happy at the scene in front of him, "I see you understand the greatness of little sisters." a voice came from his side.

"Samuel." He said without even checking to see who it was.

"Tomoyuki." The response came nearly instantly.

"Nice to meet you." Both of them looked at each other with hands held out at the same time and shook firmly.

That day, Samuel gained a new friend.
