A Sister?.....What?!

Tokyo, Japan,

Hayes Residence,

Samuel POV,

Samuel looked at the girl in front of him rubbing his eyes in disbelief, she too in response tilted her head in confusion not recognizing the teenager staring at her. "Am I....hallucinating?" he mumbled to himself, greatly confused. She looked to be five to six years old and his parents having had her while he was locked up did make sense but...."What the fuck?"

In order to check if he was dreaming, Samuel raised his hand pinched, "Ouch..." the girl rubbed her slightly red cheek looking at him with small tears in her eyes. "Feels real." Samuel noted, completely ignoring the fact that one would usually pinch themselves in such a scenario rather than the other party. She was wearing a small school bag and was about to cry because of his actions.

Samuel quickly knelt down next to her holding his hands together in apology, "I'm very very sorry, please don't cry.", he said somewhat despairing, he was never good with children be it this life or the last but one thing that was universally true was that children were very annoying when they cried, in order to avoid that Samuel gave up his dignity and begged.... a little girl.

The girl, perhaps understanding his desperation, slowly nodded but she was fairly wary of him regardless, "Who are you?" she asked, tilting her head in slight confusion, it was obvious that she was a bit peculiar seeing as she hadn't yet started shouting for her mother and Samuel noticed that fairly fast.

"Rin! Are you all done?" Mei's voice from downstairs made them break eye contact and looked downstairs to see their mother looking up with a cheeky smile on her face. "Coming mom." Rin replied blandly and looked back at Samuel who was hiding his face behind his hand, tilting her head in confusion, "What...happened?"

"I've been replaced." Samuel sighed walking downstairs with his head hung low, he went to juvie for five years and all of a sudden he had a new sibling... this gave him mixed feelings. Mei patted his shoulder as he walked by, "I thought you'd be happy though...", she said with a small grin, it was obvious she was enjoying his reaction.

Rin walked down the stairs and stared up at her mother, "Is that my...brother?", she asked with a low voice, naturally her parents had told her all about her brother who was sent to a bad bad place for something he had done on accident, they had asked her to welcome him warmly but she didn't quite understand how to interact with him.

"Yes." Mei nodded enthusiastically, wanting to see how the siblings would interact with one another going forward. She walked to the living room to see Samuel poking his cereal dejectedly and shook her head, "No you didn't get replaced, I was going to tell you but your father wanted it to be a surprise." she said walking to the kitchen which was connected with the living room itself, her husband had already eaten and left for work.

"Are you people alright in the head?" Samuel asked deadpanning at her, before his eyes went wide and he looked away slightly embarrassed, he had some trouble keeping some of his thoughts to himself. Mei pouted at him before laughing, "You really didn't change." she said looking at him with a nostalgic smile, her son had always had a habit of speaking out his thoughts on occasion.

Rin walked up to the table and took a seat right beside Samuel, staring at him with a straight face, she was observing her 'brother'. Samuel was somewhat unsettled by her staring so he tried to alleviate the awkwardness hanging in the air which went unnoticed by his sister.

"So....what school do you go to?"

"Kindergarten." She replied shortly while eating her breakfast which consisted of boiled eggs, bread and a cup of milk.

"That's a very mature breakfast you're having." he said with a small smile then looked at his own cereal feeling somewhat ashamed that his little sister was eating healthier than him.... well not that health mattered anymore with his new constitution. Initially he had somewhat misunderstood the ability itself, he would keep coming back yes and his body's improvement and growth was stunted BUT, that did not mean that he couldn't improve his skill. His brain hadn't rotted for fuck's sake, he could endlessly keep improving the martial arts he held so dear and now possessed endless amounts of time to do so!.... But he digressed.

Rin simply nodded at his words and drank her milk rather quickly. Samuel gave up on asking her questions, understanding that it wouldn't be so easy to build a relationship with the rather, quiet and meek girl.

A few minutes later, Mei walked back into the living room having left earlier, she now wore grey jeans with a green blouse and folded her arms, "How do I look?" she asked smugly, her fashion sense was really good y'know?

Samuel sighed at his mother's antics before giving her a close eyed smile, "You look as good as always.", he even gave her a thumbs up for that extra bit of impact and with the way she was smiling, it clearly worked. Rin however, had different thoughts having taken more after her down to Earth father, "You should....act your age." she said getting up from her chair and walking up to the slack jawed Mei's side.

Samuel whistled clearly surprised by his sister's words and also stood up, he wanted to spend some time with his family and no one could really blame him for that and even if someone could... he didn't care.

"Where are you going?" he asked curiously looking at his mother who was holding her purse, and checking if Rin had forgotten something. "Oh, I'm just going to take Rin to school and then go shopping." she said, still going through her daughter's bag.

Samuel nodded, "I'll come too." he said, checking his pockets for anything he might be missing and... he wasn't, so he simply walked up to the door and waited for them to arrive. He also needed to get rid of the finger he had on him, seeing as if it was found.... he'd probably be paying the police station a visit.

Mei smiled at his actions, her son was clearly making an effort to improve their relationship and she was more than proud of him for it. Rin looked at him blankly before slightly bowing, "Thank you." it was pretty nice to have her brother drop off like most other children..... She, even if she would never admit it, had longed for such a presence for a long time ago, perhaps envious of other children her age who could be seen playing with their siblings.
