Nina POV

"You have 59 seconds to impress me, show me you are worth living like this, a hollow life and I will consider sparing you." My target clearly threatened with sheer confidence radiating from his tone as if my life is in his hand.

I didn't not respond to his arrogant words instead I focused on my work and let my actions speak louder.

I lunged at him, forcing him into a close quarter fight and he neither hesitated which made me wonder how he was so full of faith in himself.

Attempting the first strike.

"Lame, too easy to read, faster, harder….. No." One after another he blocks, deflects and evades all my assaults and passes his criticism which gets on my nerves as I felt like is playing with me for fun making his before cold warning more and more thaweating now.

"30 seconds left, girl, show me something." He continued to provoke me with his words which were working even if I didn't acknowledge them.

The reason behind his words having an effect on me was because every second passed by I began to feel weak due to lack of successful hits or progress to defeat him.

He on the other hand had a perfect counter to all my experience as if he could see through me, my fighting style, moves and technique; everything was pale compared to his knowledge which in the end were making me phycological weaker and I could do nothing.

'He is indeed the most difficult and deadly target I have taken in my life as an open Assassin.' I declared without hesitation as I began to sweat profoundly.

"It's not everyday my life is on the line." I admitted as he speaks with only 10 seconds left on my clock or for me as he didn't seem impressed in any manner.

Conner POV

'She is deadly, faster and stronger than any normal human Assassin I have seen or fought so far.' I acknowledged after exchanging minimum blows with her for the past 30 seconds.

'I am very much impressed by her superhuman feats, her swift reflexes, moves and a decade of experience were showing her color but I have to show more reaction otherwise she may show weakness.'

I observed her techniques, fighting style and stance and easily figured out she is a veteran assassin, without a doubt possessing great potential.

'Although fighting and winning against me is suicidal and absurd which she didnt know but she is doing good.'

"10. seconds. left." I muttered as slowly and coldly as possible to make her worried and saw she was panting and sweating. 'Perhaps she had given her all.'

'I should trap her in my domain for a while then interrogate her a little.' I planned because I wanted to chill a little more at the party.

'Still the question remains who in his sane mind commissions a random veteran assassin to fight me, I have so many questions... .'

And then something triggered in my mind. 'Wait what if she is a bait!' I keep my guard up again with 100% attention about my environment just in case someone's curse energy ignites in my range of detection but nothing happens.

"Let's follow the mastermind then," I said and planted a strong punch Nina solar plexus to knock her out with adequate impact so she dont die on the spot.

The blond spit saliva out her mouth as a reaction with widened eyes however did not pass out as she resisted the effects, her legs gave out as she fell on her knees.

"Interesting you really are built by a different girl, I will spare you now, rest well in my domain. Once I finish this business with your contractor I will summon you for later." I informed her beforehand, I softly rubbed her cheeks and poked her forehead with my forefinger forcing her to immediately sleep without resisting.

Then with another touch her existence vanished into nothingness, leaving nothing behind.

'I wanna see how he plans to kill someone like me.' I thought that just thinking of someone killing me forces me to smile menacingly as it is almost impossible for many reasons.

I turned around to give the clock figure some of my undivided attention which he desired as he came out of hiding.

"Emerge from the darkness, blacker than darkness. Purify that which is impure." As he finishes his chanting, a dark, almost liquid-like matter drips down from the sky to form the outer barrier wall in the shape of a half-sphere.

Third person POV

The cloaked person takes out a blade oozing out a red shade and he disappears from Conner's sight, reappearing behind him purely utilizing his superior speed and agility.

A Curtain is a barrier with a large dome-shaped outer shell that hides anything within it from outside view. Inside the barrier turns the sky to night, luring cursed spirits out from hiding. Curtains are mainly utilized by jujutsu sorcerers to maintain secrecy while exorcising curses. Curtains can be customized with conditions or commissioned onto others using talismans.
