LUNCH BOX

That black expensive car is running on the highway in the capital, past the skyscrapers and pedestrians who were walking on the sidewalk. Every day those car passes the same road because that road is the only way that can take him to his destination.

The two sturdy hands held the steering wheel of his car and looked at the road in front of him seriously, accompanied by classic music.

Marlon loved this, he liked the calm sensation he could feel while driving. Marlon also likes to see people walking across the zebra cross as he is seeing now.

No need to wait long, the traffic light that was installed on the corner of the street turned green. Marlon was on the road for 20 minutes until he finally arrived at his destination.

Marlon parks his expensive car in a special parking lot away from other cars. He unbuckled the seatbelt he was wearing and got out of the fantastically priced car.

Marlon was seen in a dark blue suit that he was wearing, making him look so handsome. Which is why women are always crazy about him. Marlon walked into a skyscraper in front of him.

"Welcome Mr. Ryker," said the man, bowing when he saw Marlon's arrival.

Marlon did not reply to the man's words but he continued walking until he got into an elevator. Marlon leaned his shoulders against the elevator wall with his arms folded across his chest. A few moments later, the elevator door opened slowly.

TING!

Marlon immediately walked out of the elevator walking towards a room in the corner. His right hand rose to open the door.

CREAK...

"Ah, Mr. Ryker! You've finally come!" greeted a man with a smile on his face.

Marlon smiled and then shook the man's hand. "Sorry to keep you waiting Mr. Dolton," said Marlon.

Cole Dolton, the name of the thirty-year-old man who was Marlon's colleague. Today Marlon came to his company because he had an appointment to meet Cole, who wanted to visit his company after a long time of not seeing Marlon.

"It's okay Mr. Ryker, you didn't keep me waiting at all," said Cole casually. The two of them sat across from each other at a table in the room.

"So, how about your company in Japan, Mr. Dolton?" asked Marlon.

"Everything is going well Mr. Ryker, although I'm having a little trouble handling some things," replied Cole with a chuckle.

Cole is the same as Marlon who is also the owner of a company in which one of the branches of his company is located in Japan. Marlon is a CEO who is very wealthy and makes he has the same CEO colleagues as himself and not only Cole but many other colleagues.

Sometimes they would meet to talk, as Marlon and Cole did now after the two had not seen each other for several years, they sometimes laugh because their conversation is quite ridiculous.

Many think that Marlon is a cold man, but Marlon is not like what they think. That's because Marlon is a nice and friendly man, he just doesn't talk much to people he doesn't know well.

"How is your wife Mr. Ryker?" asked Cole.

Marlon smiled. "Fine, my wife is fine," replied Marlon.

"I'm sorry because I couldn't attend your wedding at that time Mr. Ryker," said Cole feeling bad because he couldn't attend the wedding of Marlon, his colleague. It wasn't that he didn't want to attend Marlon's wedding, it was just that he was already in Japan by then.

Marlon smiled a little. "It's all right Mr. Dolton, it's not a big deal," said Marlon, not bothering about it at all.

Cole grabbed something from beside his chair. "Here, take it, Mr. Ryker," said Cole, placing a small paper bag on the table.

Marlon furrowed his brows. "What is this Mr. Dolton?" asked Marlon.

"My gift for you because I didn't attend your wedding," replied Cole.

Marlon smiled. "Mr. Dolton, you don't have to give me a present like this."

Cole shook his head slowly. "Please take my present Mr. Ryker and open it. Someone told me, that you will have a happy marriage from that thing," said Cole looking at Marlon and smiling.

...

Ezlyn slowly opened her eyes, blinking several times until her vision was no longer blurry. Ezlyn then looked around and just remembered that last night she slept on the sofa.

Ezlyn woke up from her sleep and sat on the sofa, Ezlyn was silent for a long time until she finally looked at the clock. "Oh my! Marlon!" shouted Ezlyn.

Ezlyn immediately got up from the sofa, both her feet ran up the stairs as fast as possible, and then opened the door in front of her breathlessly.

Empty.

She didn't see anyone in the room, she only saw the already tidy bed. "He's gone..." said Ezlyn slightly disappointed.

Yes, she ran into that bedroom just for Marlon. She thought that she was too late to wake Marlon because one thing people didn't know about her husband was that Marlon had a hard time getting up early.

Very funny isn't it? She was the only one who knew that about Marlon.

Ezlyn walked out and closed the bedroom door tightly. Ezlyn walked back downstairs, she walked into the kitchen looking at the dining table. "He hasn't had breakfast."

Ezlyn was worried about Marlon going to work without breakfast because usually, she would prepare breakfast for Marlon.

Eggs and bacon.

It was Marlon's favorite breakfast that Ezlyn would always make for Marlon, which Marlon would eat before going to work.

Ezlyn opened the refrigerator door because she wanted to get water but Ezlyn saw an empty plate in the refrigerator. Ezlyn took the plate which turned out to be the plate she used to store the brownies she made yesterday in the refrigerator.

Ezlyn was silent for a moment. "He ate it..." muttered Ezlyn. "He ate the brownies I made," said Ezlyn who couldn't help but smile.

...

The two hazel eyes looked out the window, seeing skyscrapers had become her daily sight but she never got tired of it. Especially when she saw it from behind the window of the bus that she always rides.

Ezlyn is currently sitting in one of the bus seats near the window with other passengers sitting beside her. While busy looking out the window, the bus suddenly braked.

CRITT!

It made some of the bus passengers stagger including Ezlyn, but she wasn't worried about herself but rather a paper bag containing a lunchbox on her lap.

"Hufftt... luckily it didn't fall," said Ezlyn, relieved to see that the lunchbox she was carrying didn't fall.

Twenty minutes Ezlyn was on the road until finally the bus she was riding stopped at a bus stop on the side of the road. Ezlyn immediately got off with several other passengers who also had the same stop as her.

Ezlyn walked on the sidewalk with a smile on her beautiful face until she finally walked into a skyscraper and walked to the receptionist. "Excuse me..."

The woman behind the desk immediately turned back. "Oh, welcome Mrs. Ryker!" she said when she saw Ezlyn, her CEO's wife.

Yes, currently Ezlyn is in the company owned by Marlon, her husband. All employees who work in this company know Ezlyn.

Ezlyn smiled. "Is Mr. Ryker in his room?" asked Ezlyn.

"Yes Mrs. Ryker, do you want me to inform Mr. Ryker about your arrival?" asked the woman kindly.

Ezlyn immediately shook her head. "No need. I'll just wait for him in the lobby, thank you," said Ezlyn.

"You're welcome, Mr. Ryker," replied the woman kindly.

Ezlyn walked towards the lobby, she sat on one of the chairs in the lobby. There was no one there, only her. Ezlyn looked down, staring at the paper bag on her lap.

"Marlon would love it," said Ezlyn with a smile. Ezlyn was here to bring Marlon lunch because Marlon had missed his breakfast.

Why would Ezlyn want to do all this, after all, Marlon's rudeness to her?

Love.

Ezlyn did all this out of love.

Because she loves her husband who has been in her heart all this time. She will do anything for love because she believes that her love will change Marlon one day.

Ezlyn continued to wait without getting bored until she turned around and accidentally looked at the elevator. "Oh, there he is!" exclaimed Ezlyn.

Ezlyn saw Marlon walking out of the elevator, she immediately got up from the chair to walk over to Marlon. But Marlon walks faster than her, making Ezlyn have to chase Marlon.

Ezlyn continued to chase Marlon who walked quite a distance from her. "Why is he so fast?" complained Ezlyn seeing her husband walking so fast.

But Ezlyn continued to chase after Marlon's footsteps. Not long after she saw Marlon who stopped his steps, it made her feel happy and immediately wanted to approach Marlon, but...

Ezlyn hoped that what she was seeing right now wasn't reality. Up ahead, right in front of her eyes, she saw Marlon with another woman.

Her husband hugged the woman, kissed the woman's cheek, and smiled at the woman.

The smile that should have been for her and that she had always hoped for, was given and shown to other women.

Not her.

Ezlyn immediately turned around, walking on the sidewalk as tears rolled down her cheeks. Shattered, her heart was completely shattered at this moment.

Gone... her hope was completely gone.

Which is the only reason to hold on to her love but right now her eyes saw a reality that was so bitter and painful, that she wish only a nightmare.

Ezlyn continued to walk ignoring the people who were looking at her with questioning eyes. She kept walking until she crossed the street in front of her, her vision blurred because of the tears that kept running down her cheeks.

"Sob... sob... sob..." sobbed Ezlyn occasionally wiping her tears.

And that's when it all happened...

HONK!

HONK!

CRASH!

The paper bag was thrown into the air, causing the contents of the lunch box inside to fall scattered beside a woman who was lying on the zebra crossing covered in blood.

People immediately ran over to see what the horrific incident they had just witnessed was. Including the man not far standing at the zebra cross.

"What is going on over there?" said Marlon.

"I don't know," said the woman in the red dress.

Out of curiosity, without thinking twice Marlon immediately walked over to the crowd and tried to break through the crowd. "Excuse me... excuse me..." said Marlon.

Until finally Marlon was in the front row. Seeing the cause of the crowd, saw a woman covered in blood on the zebra cross.

Those black hair...

Those hazel eyes...

Those face...

Marlon's eyes trembled with his ragged breathing. "N-no... no... EZLYNNNNNN!" shouted Marlon loudly.

September 20, Ezlyn Storm passed away.
