"I didn't sleep... why in the hell didn't I sleep." David sat up on his bed, cranky as he didn't get to sleep yesterday night.
He quickly changed into his uniform and looked at the time. 5 am... 5 fucking am!
'I still need my sleep, fuck it, I'm taking a one-hour nap.' David had his scales wrap around the uniform like a blanket as he went back on the bed to sleep.
He tossed and turned, and decided to take off his uniform first and went back to sleep.
One hour later...
"Hgnnnn!... Much better! Seems like I don't need that much sleep, which is weird. Usually, you'd have to be decently into the road to power to have this kind of body... meh, I won't question it anymore." David transformed the scales into small fingerless gloves onto both of his hands.
He took out his uniform and put it back on. He opened the door, and with his {Mini-Map}, he could see that Bennett was still dead asleep from the dot that hadn't moved since he his early 5 am wake.
'Yep, that's him for sure, dead asleep, even for such an important day.' David sighed, walking through the hallway to Bennett's room.
Knocking on his door, David shielded the area around him and made a straight line of mana through the door before shouting, "Waking the hell up! It's the first day of school!"
*Thud!*
The shouting nearly pierced his eardrums, making him roll onto the floor, "AGH! Ugh... wait... crap! It's the first day!"
"Alright! I'm coming in about 5 minutes! Let me get dressed up!" Bennett shouted at the door.
"Got it. I'll tell the servants to get your breakfast as well." Since the mana field was still in effect, David could talk in his normal voice without any problem with the other party's feelings.
"Ow... couldn't he have spoken a bit softer..." Bennett moaned in pain, rubbing his ears as he put on his uniform.
"Because I wanted to..." David's voice rang in his ears again, making his ears ring.
"Argh!" Bennett comically rolled out on the floor in 'pain'.
Ignoring the shouts of anguish in Bennett's room, David went downstairs and told the servants to serve breakfast for both Bennet and himself since he knew his parents weren't home for the week, most likely went out on a new mission late at night yesterday.
By the time Bennet had dressed up and entered the dining room, the two portions of mushroom omelets and two milk glasses on the side.
"Come on, we don't have all day, brother. Since we need to go on a carriage for about an hour, we need to wake up an hour earlier." He reasoned as soon as he saw his brother's mouth open, about to spew out some complaints about the time.
"Fine..." he grumbled as he sat down to eat his breakfast.
"You're still grumpy? Did you have a bad dream last night?" David wasn't used to Bennett being genuinely angry, so he asked out of curiosity.
"Yeah... I couldn't sleep at all until it was at least 3 am!" He pointed to his eyes, revealing just the slightest of eye bags.
"Oh? I see, that is a problem if it occurred to humans... Were you also too excited for today that you nearly overslept?" David continued to eat as he was thinking if something was hampering their sleeping schedule... but they didn't really offend anyone this month so he let it pass them.
"Yeah, I was quite excited for today... Wait, you didn't get to sleep either?" Bennett asked.
"Well, I only had a one hour nap... I still feel a bit sluggish, but it should be cured once we arrive at the academy." David replied, finishing the omelet.
"Come on, we've already spent 10 minutes, hurry up. The carriage is already here." David went to the bathroom to brush his teeth.
Hearing his reminder, Bennett started to wolf down his breakfast, forcing him to walk around for a minute before brushing his teeth in the bathroom.
(Yes, they did this downstairs and yes, in a world of magic, they can just directly use magic for daily needs. Everyone does it including the nobles, don't judge my half-assed world.)
They went outside, only to see their coachmen checking the carriage for any problems, it is a big day after all. The coachman didn't seem to notice the two young masters as he was quite immersed in his work.
"Is everything ready, Max?" David's calm voice rang in his ear, giving him a small jolt.
"Just in time, young master. Yes, everything is ready, please step into the carriage." Max turned and bowed with his hands out to the entrance of the carriage.
The two nodded, getting into the carriage...
For the whole way there, Bennett wasn't able to sit still at all, being in this world for 15 years, he could finally say that his journey is beginning!
He kept talking about his expectations for the school while David was just nodding along to him occasionally. He was so loud that even Max was able to hear what he was saying sometimes, surprising him in a good way.
Like they said, their impression on their young master was at best lukewarm, but usually more cold and aloof as he alone had to uphold his own family's reputation as the sole heir since the oldest one left.
Now, with David being his adopted brother who seems to have known him for a long time, he cheered up and slowly warmed up to all the servants in the one month they were preparing for the academy.
It was quite joyous, even though there was only one extra person in the household, the moods of everyone had marginally increased. Though... it seems as though the role of the cold and aloof young master trait has been passed on to the newest young master, David.
The hour had passed quite quickly and they had finally reached Balfone Academy!
