Chapter 9: make-out

I can't believe you were planning on leaving Philly without telling me."

"Roxy, I was going to tell you."

My fingers went to my hair.

"Trust me, I didn't want you finding out this way. I jus-."

I swallowed. "When were you going to tell me?"

Her head fell a little. "When Ed came to get me. I-."

"Just can't believe you were planning on leaving without telling me."

"Are you even listening to a word I'm saying? Of course I was going to tell you. I just said that."

"So you two are going to run over to San Francisco, hitch up and leave me the fuck alone in this goddamn place. You're going to leave just because you've finally found a guy who'd buy you Sephora without thinking twice."

Jenna's eyes flashed. I couldn't stand her stinging gaze. My eyes travelled to the kitchen. She was quiet for a while before: "Wow. You've finally said it. What you think of me. What you think of my relationship with Ed."

I turned away again when I still couldn't hold her gaze.

"I thought we were friends. Friends don't shit on each other. I'm leaving and even if I told you a century ago, I'd still be leaving."

"Yeah."

She closed her eyes and opened them a few moments later. "Sometimes talking to you is like talking to a fucking wall."

"Of course it is."

"You're taking your frustration out on me cause you can't process the fact that I'm leaving."

"Whatever you say."

She narrowed her eyes. "Eric's attitude problems are finally rubbing off on you, I see."

"Back to square one again." I huffed at the mention of his name and ran my hands over my face.

"He's an asshole, that's why."

I gave her a pointed look. "And he's my boyfriend."

"Then why are you fucking with me instead of fucking him right now?"

My eyes fell to her mahogany table as she spun around and the next thing I heard was the kitchen door.

The silence in the taxi was hostile. My eyes rolled skywards when the driver for the fifth time, stared at us from his mirror. Even he sensed the negative energy.

Jenna stole my attention when she shifted on the cushion and angled her head so she could have an easier view of the passing cars. My eyes fell to her boots. She was just like a child. She could be good but when she decided to be inconsiderate, everything she did came with a juvenile flair.

It was tiring enough that I had to deal with Eric with her around. What of when she wasn't? How would I cope? Who would be there to shove the exaggerated truth in my face?

My eyes rested on the tiny establishment once the taxi pulled to a stop. Late afternoons weren't always as busy as the mornings and brunch periods. I guess people didn't take lunch as seriously.

After slamming a few dollar bills into the drivers palm, the bar came into my view again. I halted when I was about pulling the knob. Jenna stepped in my way.

I shook my head a little after several beats of silence. "What?"

"Being upset doesn't suit you." A faint smile played across her cherry red lips.

My eyes zeroed in on the knob again. "Being upset suits no one."

Her hand stopped mine from twisting the knob and she only spoke when I finally met her eyes. "I mean it." She was silent for a bit. "I mean it when I say I didn't mean for you to find out this way. I'm sorry."

I exhaled and my gaze went to the noisy street before returning to her. "You don't have to apologize for wanting to be happy, Jenna."

Her brows knitted together in confusion. "Then what's this about?"

"I don't know. I guess I'm just pissed that you're leaving and that I'm discarding everyone that really cared about me."

"Woah. We can still talk on the phone and-."

"I'm ending things with Eric."

Her eyes widened a bit. "Oh."

"Yeah," I blinked a few times. "Even if it took me a shitload of time to realize it, if you really love something, you have to let it go."

"And when are you planning on letting go?"

I exhaled through my nose. "Once I talk with Erica."

She nodded and rubbed her lips together.

"Fuck," I chuckled a bit after several seconds, blinking a few stubborn tears away. "Being an adult sure is shitty, isn't it?"

"Ha! Don't even get me started on the decision making."

After signing in the register and changing, my eyes zeroed in on the table just to the right from the centre. A man in blue and a lady in red stepped in minutes ago and after taking their orders, I came right back around with a tray of two sizzling dishes of Posh's finest.

"Merci."

Her smile was infectious. Almost made me forget I had the urge to pour their wine on her date's dress shirt. His green eyes were glued to my chest and my overactive mind didn't skip just how polite he was when he brushed his fingers with mine and took the red wine bottle from me. With a sigh and quiet string of curse words, I made my way back to the kitchen.

I watched as the water rinsed the toilet bowl immediately my finger left the button. After rinsing my hands and checking if my boobs were peeking from my shirt, my hand covered the door knob and I twisted it. With furrowed brows, I tried again when it didn't budge. A small gasp escaped from my lips when I felt strong arms engulf me and press me against something rigid.

"You smell even better than I thought."

The voice was masculine.

"Let me go!" I managed as my heart hammered in my ribcage. What the hell was happening?

"Alright."

Immediately his grip loosened, I spun around. His eyes were even greener up close. My breaths became shallower when I realized the door was locked.

"Why did you lock the door?"

"You're beautiful. Anyone told you that?"

His voiced oozed confidence and wealth and so did his Armani suit. He must have been rich just from the smell of his cologne.

"What do you want?" My eyes drifted to the door, already playing out each and every terrible way this could go.

"You." He came closer.

"Excuse me?" I took a step back.

His hand rose to my hair. "Don't pretend." I stopped him cold.

"Listen," I huffed, "I'm at my job and I'm also on the clock. I'll still like to have this job by tomorrow so if you don't mind, the keys?" I stretched my left palm out.

He invaded my personal space. "I'm not one to chase after women."

"Really?" I swallowed at the proximity and my eyes and body couldn't help but take note of his distinct features. Hard, distinct features. Funny how one sentence with him up close could cause my pantie to drop.

"Yes." And just like that, his lips covered mine.

My eyes enlarged and my breath got caught in my throat as my back hit the wall opposite the counter. The probably most expensive variant of the old spice fragrance hit my nostrils and my eyes slowly closed as a soft, almost inaudible moan left my throat.

This was different. He was different. The way his lips caressed mine, the sleek way his hand slipped under my dress and the way he invaded my mouth with his tongue was different from what I was used to. Who knew steak and wine would form such a great combination to taste?

I welcomed some extra exploration as his soft, delicious, luscious lips travelled to and left a sweet trail on my neck. Suddenly, the sound of my heart slamming in my ribcage wasn't so audible and so was the voice telling me it was wrong.

Shit.

My eyes flew open.

This was wrong.

With as much force as my uncooperative body could muster, I pushed him away.

"You liked it?"

My eyes rose to his and with knitted brows, I licked my lips and shook my head. "You're insane. Get me out of here. Right now."

His eyes fell to the Rolex on his wrist before returning to me.

"Did I stutter?" I asked more scared than confident, but not stupid enough to show.

He chuckled.

My eyes fell to his designer shoes and then rose back to his eyes. "What?"

"You don't understand me yet. I want you and I get whatever I want."

My feet immediately left the ground and next thing, I was seated on the counter. Before I could recover enough to ascertain what was happening, his tongue found its way back into my mouth, this time hotter, faster and of course, even messier.

With surprisingly no restraint whatsoever, I leaned into the kiss and encouraged a moan from him. It was after his hand slipped under my dress, I realized mine was already underneath his shirt. The heat between my legs built up with each bump and valley on his rock hard chest and I knew he knew I would fuck him there and then when his lips tugged upwards against mine.

The knot in my stomach seemed to grow and grow with anticipation of the next second. The way he gripped my hair, moved his tongue in my mouth and kept me in place made me realize that I wasn't leaving anytime soon.

I wasn't complaining.

His wet kisses gained more perspective down my neck, leaving my entire body craving for some more of his attention. My eyes fluttered closed and my head tipped back when his teeth grazed my earlobe and his desperate, long fingers found my pantie.

"Did you like that?" his voice morphed into something made of explicitly pure pleasure as his low tessitura vibrated in my ear drums. His hands teased the elastic of my lace underwear. "Then you'll love this."

Just as his hand slipped in, the doors burst open.
