Xavier

Xavier Wellington couldn't be more excited, after he sealed the biggest deal for his father's company, in the United Kingdom.

The deal was one of the most difficult he had ever handled. It gave him sleepless nights for many months.

Now, he had sealed the deal and was on his way back to New York, to surprise his family with the greatest news.

"I'll miss you so much babe." His girlfriend, Lisa said. She had been sad ever since he told her he was returning to New York City.

He turned squarely to her, his signature smile, plastered on his face. "I'll miss you too." He drew her closer and planted a kiss on his cheeks. "I'll be back in a month time."

"That was what I heard the last time you left. You overstayed." Lisa complained bitterly.

The last time Xavier went to see his parents, he overstayed and did not come back, till after three months.

He had explained to Lisa that his dad needed him, so he wasn't able to arrive like he told her.

"I promise, I won't." He gave her more kisses on her cheeks and more of them.

Lisa, always considered herself very lucky, to have met and fallen in love with Xavier. He was everything she wished and prayed for.

But, she had a huge problem. She felt Xavier was depriving her of meeting his family. She had always wanted to meet them, especially his twin brother.

She loved how Xavier always talked about his twin brother, Xander. Their childhood and how they slowly drifted apart, because of work.

Each time she brought the topic up, Xavier always tossed it aside.

She was beginning to feel like he was ashamed of her, or he had someone else that his family was very much aware of.

She vowed to convince him so he could take her along. She prayed she succeeded, because that was the only part she seemed not to succeed in, ever since they started dating.

"Baby?" She called. She moved closer to him, almost cuddling him on the bed.

"Yes," Xavier answered softly. He was typing away on his phone.

"Don't you think I should go with you, to see your family?" Lisa heart beat increased. It was almost like she could hear it beat against her chest, loudly.

Xavier paused, kept his phone down and looked deep into her eyes. "I thought we talked about this already, baby. It's not just the right time."

Lisa's blood seemed to boil at his words. She sprang you immediately. "When is the right time? Why can't I see them now?"

"When the time is right, I'll take you there. Can we not talk about this anymore?" Xavier replied with the calmest voice ever.

That alone irked Lisa, so badly. She wished he'd tell her his reasons, but she was always left in the dark. She despised it.

Lisa knew it was her cue to leave. She couldn't stand being in the same space as Xavier at that moment.

She angrily picked up her bag and stomped out of the room in anger.

Xavier knew he had ducked it up again, so he had to fix it before leaving for New York City the next day.

He couldn't leave, when his girl was clearly pissed at him.

He quickly called his personal assistant.

"Fix dinner at the best restaurant, and pick up some flowers in the garden. Get Lisa to the venue." He ended the call, and sat back.

Lisa wasn't a stubborn person, so he knew getting her to the venue was going to be the easiest.

As predicted, Lisa walked into the restaurant, looking so beautiful in her dinner gown. She wasn't smiling and Xavier knew why. He knew he had to smoothen things out, before it gets worse.

"Is this your way of apologizing? Because it's not working till I get a positive reply." Lisa warned, before taking her seat opposite his.

Xavier, chuckled softly. "Come baby, don't be like this."

"You never want to tell me the reason. Are you ashamed of me? Is there someone else?" Fear gripped her, whilst she waited for his reply.

Xavier shook his head sideways. "Ashamed of you? Never. There's never someone else. You're the only one I'm in love with. I love you so much, Lisa."

Lisa's eyes beamed with joy. She loved a vulnerable Xavier. "Tell me your reasons then?" Lisa demanded.

"I want to introduce you to them, and get married to you immediately." Xavier spilled.

Lisa gasped, using her palm to cover her mouth. "Are you serious?" She squeaked excitedly.

Xavier nodded with a smile. "I'm not ready for marriage right now. But, as soon as I am ready, you'll be the first to ever cross my mind."

Lisa's heart melted with love and joy. She couldn't believe that was his plan all along. She was very excited.

"You should have told me." Lisa said. She took hands into hers.

"I never thought you'd understand. I never wanted to hurt you."

Lisa drew closer to him and placed a quick kiss on his cheeks. "I'll always understand you. I'll wait till whenever you're ready."

Although Lisa felt bad and extremely sad, she never showed it.

She forced a smile all through the dinner, even though she was trying not to cry.

She wanted a forever with Xavier, but she felt he never wanted that with her.

"Do you love flowers?" Xavier asked with a smile plastered on his face. He was always known to have a signature smile, lingering on his lips.

Lisa nodded with a forced smile. "I love them so much. Thank you."

They rounded up their dinner with a lovely kiss.

Lisa was left to drown in pain. She wondered what she was doing wrong. She only had one option.

She quickly picked her phone lying on the nightstand, and called her mum.

"Hi mum. Is something wrong with me?"Lisa asked, almost in tears.

"Don't say that, nothing is wrong with you?" Her mum assured.

"Then why isn't Xavier showing me off to his family? Neither is he proposing. It's been five years mum, his family doesn't know I exist." Lisa cried bitterly.

Her mum sighed heavily. She was tired of Lisa complaining continuously about Xavier's incompetence of proposing or letting his family know they were together.

"I'm sure he will. Xavier is a sweet soul, maybe he isn't ready yet."

As predicted, her mum supported Xavier. She always did.

"Bye mum." Lisa hung up immediately.

That night, she drowned herself in
