Eye of Justice

Jack activated his [Eye of Justice] and cast a quick glance at Gordon. To his surprise, not a trace of the ominous black mist clung to Gordon, and the room's darkness avoided him entirely. The origin of the black mist was the looming figure of Rob on the other side, so thick that even Rob became barely visible.

"..." Rob couldn't help but take a step back. The piercing stare exchanged between him and Jack was unsettling, enough to make him avert his eyes.

"This look and aura.... If anyone claims he's not an elite in that kind of organization, I'd shoot him on the spot!" Rob muttered to himself, gradually warming up to Jack.

With his suspicion confirmed, Rob realized one thing—he couldn't afford to offend Jack. While Rob might pick fights with others, he wouldn't wade into these murky waters.

Rob's subsequent words were more diplomatic, advising Jack to keep him informed for safety's sake. If any trouble arose, Jack could count on him to handle it. Soon after, Gordon and Jack exited Rob's office.

....

Gordon led Jack to a quiet corner, questioning, "What's happening? What did you do?"

The morning's reactions from colleagues and Director Rob had puzzled Gordon. Distressed by the lack of answers, he deduced that Jack must be the cause, given Jack's lack of surprise.

"Didn't I mention it before?" Jack responded. "They fear my identity and the powerful force behind me."

The situation had exceeded Jack's initial expectations. Leveraging Fras and Falconi's adept investigative skills and their dissemination of the gathered information, Jack found an opportunity.

Always keen on making the most of any situation, Jack incorporated the narrative of a formidable organization backing him into his identity.

"If I ask, you'll probably claim it's a secret again," Gordon sighed, reluctantly accepting the explanation this time.

Initially skeptical due to a lack of evidence, Gordon now believed it, thanks to the reactions of Chief Rob and other officers. Convinced it wasn't an April Fool's joke, Gordon acknowledged that even on such a day, the force wouldn't engage in such elaborate pranks.

Hence, there was only one logical conclusion – Jack's claim about his formidable background was indeed true; he hailed from a potent force.

Oddly, Gordon found Jack remarkably affable, radiating an air of trustworthiness and reliability. Perhaps it was because of the knowledge of his true identity, Gordon mused, but he didn't delve further into the matter.

Curiosity gnawing at him, Gordon tentatively inquired about the possibility of joining the team, a question that stirred his emotions once again.

"It's still valid," Jack affirmed, lacking any conditional prerequisites due to Gordon's initial hesitation. In matters involving the city's fate, caution was paramount.

Excitement surged within Gordon. Finally, he had found an organization – a prospect that invigorated him. Enduring a life of isolation for standing by his principles, Gordon gritted his teeth until this moment. Now, aligned with someone who shared his convictions and possessed an organization, he felt a resurgence of purpose.

For the first time in a while, Gordon's blood boiled, and the ambition to transform Gotham, which had fueled his decision to become a policeman, resurfaced in his mind.

A newfound energy coursed through him.

Jack assured, patting Gordon on the shoulder. "Find me a rental house, and then we'll go have something to eat."

Gordon was taken aback. "Huh?"

"I've taken care of the food, clothing, housing, and transportation myself," Jack explained. "Food is always available, but housing remains a problem. After addressing the first three needs, it's time to consider it."

Reluctantly nodding, Gordon yielded to Jack's well-reasoned argument.

.....

After that, Gordon took Jack to scout for a place. Jack's needs weren't fancy—just needed it tidy, hushed, and handy. Money wasn't a hitch, so finding it was a cakewalk.

Come nighttime, when Gordon headed home, Jack strolled to the store solo, grabbed some day-to-day stuff, and then hoofed it back to the rented joint.

As expected, Jack caught wind of someone tailing him on the road.

Through some sounds so faint they were near undetectable, Jack sussed out the nimbleness of the shadow, letting him finger the identity of the tag-along.

Bruce Wayne, soon-to-be Batman!

Naturally, with Batman on his tail, Jack couldn't let him play the kinda dress-up game he fancied.

"Wayne Enterprises is a bigwig outfit, capable of throwing its weight 'round the country, but its heirs always turn a blind eye to this hefty resource, choosin' to fight solo against them crooks."

Jack's schemin' to school Mr. Bruce Wayne, pre-Batman, showin' him the ropes of using capital to mop up messes before his fancy for costumes sinks in too deep!

Of course, Batman needs a plan. Jack'll just pitch an idea to solve Bruce's Gotham woes and let him take his pick. What he chooses isn't Jack's concern.

Having said that, if there's an easier path for Bruce to fix Gotham's mess and win back the damsel. How'll Bruce choose? Jack's mighty curious.
