30 Chapter 30

After that conversation, November passes quickly. It's actually on the first days of December that she's contacted by Fury. Luckily, he takes her requests of privacy seriously and after a couple of weeks of preparing, he finally furnished a warehouse with something for her to test her powers.

Luckily, Tony had already prepared the same for her a week after their talk, so she had a better knowledge of her powers, so she only needs to go to Fury to give him something. She knows if she doesn't give him anything, then it would be problematic for her. And especially for Tony, as if he's the one hosting her.

America is most likely still salty about him closing the weapons department of Stark Industries.

All in all, it's better for all if she just plays along.

Doesn't mean she will show everything, of course. Just enough to satisfy their curiosity. She will still keep her Gallade's moveset to herself. At least until the invasion happens, or when she really needs it. Also, she's transformed into an Alolan Raichu as she needs attacks to disable others without causing much harm. And what better than an electric type for that?

After that, in the middle of December, Jarvis finishes his calculations with all the elements known, twice. The result? None worked. She remembers being the first days of the month when Jarvis gave his answer for the first time. She could feel the despair overflowing him and he would have drunk until passing out if she hadn't used Sing on him after he finished the first bottle.

She's understanding, but still won't let him ruin his liver.

The morning after, he woke up with a slight hangover that she didn't heal. When he asked why, she told him she won't heal any headaches caused by excessive drinking. He sulked and asked Jarvis to do a double check. He seemed full of anxious energy as he continued working on the new products Stark Industries was going to launch.

He wanted to drink a glass while working, but she convinced him to drink something healthier that could help reduce the poison in his body, as she remembered there being something the Tony of the movies drank to not make his condition worse.

He declined at that moment, but now that it's clear there's no element known…

"You're going to create some natural drink for you to drink. It will prolong the time you have to find a cure," she says after Tony started moving to his bar.

"Hey, you're wearing a turtleneck," Tony says as he looks at her.

There's amusement in his expression, which was the point of wearing this in the first place. After all, word spread like wildfire across New York about the mysterious blue superhero cat. And so, Pepper found out about her outings to New York city and other cities nearby. She was disappointed, but in the end, she gave her little blue turtleneck for her Mew form, showing her understanding.

They were calling her Mysteria when she started helping others, but the small turtleneck solidified her cuteness which now made them shorten her new superhero name to Myst. She kind of liked it, both Mysteria and its shortened version.

A week ago though, she used the red turtleneck Tony gifted her, instead of the blue one Pepper gave her, and the day after, the internet was calling her Americat.

She hasn't used it outside again, horrified. But at least it made Tony laugh, which is becoming rare these days. She's using another red turtleneck now, hoping to lift his mood.

It works but doesn't last long, though.

"I don't know why you're so sure I can discover a new element."

She's sure because she has seen it for herself and the trust she has for him is strong. She can reveal the truth to him, but the thought of it made her heart feel heavy, and she doesn't want to expose that vulnerability to anyone presently.

She looks down, her shoulders drooping as her heart sank. "I wish I could help more."

"You are helping. I don't think I could sleep without you Singing to me or be without pain thanks to all the Healing you've done to me."

"It's not enough, though." She releases a long, drawn-out sigh. "And I know it's not going to change your mind, but I hope you used the suit less."

"Not happening."

And that's that. She doesn't begrudge him for not considering it, as the good he is doing speaks for itself. Not only is he destroying Ten Rings operations, but he's also stabilizing east-west relations. She's incredibly proud of him, as she can feel the warmth radiating from the public towards him, even if the government is getting hostile.

It motivates her.

So she goes out to help others every night; her Psychic range increases with each practice. Instead of choosing one city to focus on, she spreads her efforts out, traveling to a different city each night to help more people. She changes her pattern every night to prevent being seen as predictable. She returns at different times, but never later than three in the morning. She always finds Tony awake. She can't always use Sing because she doesn't want him to become dependent on it. So, whenever she feels Tony will be less prone to nightmares (Empathy and Psychic for the win!), she goes to sleep with him in her Mew form.

She knows the therapeutic power of cats and dogs, and she has experienced the calming effects they can bring to those with mental health issues. She's not a cat, but close enough, right? It seems to work as Tony sleeps easier with her curled around his neck.

At eleven o'clock they both wake up, and she uses her healing powers to ease the aching he's beginning to experience. She hums to herself as she makes lunch for both of them, while Tony's phone rings and he speaks softly to Pepper about work and other matters. After lunch, Tony continues working on his projects or going on a trip if necessary in his suit.

What does she do instead? Well, she has been taking in the sights, searching on the internet for the disparities between her world and this one since she got here. She's got to admit some important things remain the same, but some things do not. Notorious books are mostly the same, but other media, like comics, manga, and movies? Not really.

Now that she's fairly certain that some works haven't been done, and although she can't recall the scene-by-scene details, she has a general idea of how it should go, allowing her to add her own unique spin to it.

First, she's going to introduce DC here, if only for the kicks. She's certain this is the path that will lead to financial success.

She's going to be a writer and her first book is going to be the first part of Batman's trilogy.

After all, she's living with Tony and his DC counterpart has always been Bruce Wayne. She's the only one that's going to get the joke, but she's fine with it.
