13 Ch 13 Making My Entrance

Whoosh the sound of Paddy's green glowing fist as I duck beneath it, he cast a spell that wraps his fists in magic thorns.

I aim my dagger for his stomach to injure, not kill, but he blocks it with another thorny fist.

He throws a 1-2 punch at me. I block one with my daggers and dodge the other getting ready to kick again.

I give him another spinning kick to the chest, but my leg goes through a portal and strikes my side.

I fall to the side but to a roll to get back to my feet and launch a volley of daggers to his exposed legs.

He blocks most of them but the one that got through was all that I needed.

I rush to finish him off but can't as my leg is tangled in a magical vine.

I turn to mist and fly to the sky aiming to do Dorji's ax kick, he opens another portal so fast I fly into it.

It opens straight to the ground in front of him, his left hand is no longer covered by thorns but moss instead.

The dagger wound I inflicted was also covered in some sort of algae and seaweed wrapping. He no longer seems in pain.

The moss briefly glows yellow and a beam hits me and harms my mist form even knocking me back.

I notice that the ground around him is extra overgrown so I dodge his next beam and reform about 5 meters away.

"Hah you can't get me now Yang" he said way too overconfident for my pride to let go.

I'll use a new move I have been working on inspired by Zabuza.

I take a deep breath and as I exhale I turn my lungs and internal organs and vocal cords to mist and cover the area only about a 5-meter radius.

While he can't see through the mist I can feel where everything is.

And to make matters worse for him I'm completely silent, no breathing, no voice, not even my stomach or organs shifting.

I sneak around in mist throwing daggers from different positions. He dodges some but now has 3 daggers sticking out of his back.

He wraps them in the same seaweed spell as last time and tries to run out of the mist.

That won't work as I can just move the mist with him making the area seem limitless.

Paddy just starts wildly firing beams from his left. Due to the mist now being a partial transformation rather than the full thing the damage I take is negligible.

He'll have to hit my body if he wants to stop me now, I silently sneak behind his tired bleeding body and place my dagger to his neck.

"Oh fuck you've got me, now get this fucking mist out of here" he continued "I need sunlight to charge my healing spells"

I will the mist to congeal back into my body, it absorbs through my skin and I don't have to inhale it back in.

"Looks like I win again, better luck next time Paddy" I say

"There's not going to be a next time because you're leaving tomorrow"

"Oh ya guess you'll just have to train to beat me when I get back"

"Fuck the scores 12-11 this was supposed to be my win" he said as I walked away.

Over these months I have learnt more about my mists, sadly I have failed to turn it into some kind of long-range attack.

I can send my mists out of my hands and even will it to curve or speed up.

But it still has no force behind it and is better used as a distraction or intimidation.

I'm hoping if I combine it with Ta-Lo arts, I may be able to weaponize the mists better using their wind thing.

That could be what I need to solidify my strength. Speaking of strength, my new status looks like this.

Not monumental growth but I'm just happy getting INT of 19, I suspect my stats will increase further in Ta-Lo.

They must have some random training bullshit to take me to the next level.

I bid my farewells to The Ancient One and Paddy and Fran

Then I teleport to Ch'eng tu fu, one of the last cities in China that I traveled through before crossing into Tibet.

It will take about 2 weeks normally to travel to Tao Chao, a city north of here that has the bamboo forest a few hours away that I learned in a book from Kamar-Taj.

The bamboo forest has the portal to Ta-Lo in it. Though I feel I'll be able to get there much faster by flying.

When I teleported in I purposely teleported to the surrounding forest that I did some hunting in.

I did this to not be seen by someone, one of the weaknesses of teleportation is that I can't see where I'm going.

so I could easily be seen as evil or demonic to someone just standing around.

I turn to mist and start flying north.

5 days later I arrived much faster than walking but I found out that every 2 hours I need to reform for a couple of seconds before transforming again.

I don't know why but it's uncomfortable and even painful to stay transformed longer than that, though I feel with some training I could stay mist longer.

Outside the bamboo forest, it occurs to me that I might not need to take the path and just fly through it with brute force early.

I'll give it a try.

I start running down the path after 30 seconds the path behind me starts closing with bamboo.

It's faster than me even with 21 AGI but I turn to mist and fly off faster than it but it's still chasing me.

Suddenly the path in front of me closes off and a way to the right opens. I turn quickly.

I could fly over or maybe snake between the stalks but this is a good learning opportunity.

Again the path changes this time left I barely make the turn meanwhile the bamboo behind is catching up.

The path changes again this time I fail to turn in time, so instead, I try going through it.

But surprisingly it stops my mist form in place like a wall with no gaps.

I quickly head to the left to not get caught by the bamboo behind me.

I try to fly over it but the bamboo just magically grows up and maintains the rapid maze no matter what altitude I go.

All this going up is just slowing me down so I just go back to ground level.

I keep flying through and make it past 2 more turns before I'm blindsided by a wall of bamboo crashing into me from the left.

It launches me out of the forest and off a cliff, but I'm still mist and I just hung there in mid-air thinking about things.

I didn't make it but this is the perfect training method for maneuvering in my mist form.

I decided I'll spend these last 3 weeks here trying to get in early.

Chapter 13 done

I just got back home so updates will slow a bit but I'll keep to a schedule of at least 1 chapter every 3 days and more if I'm on a roll.
