Reni smiled bleakly. ::I pray that you’re right. I don’t know what I’ll do if…if Tonio doesn’t survive. If the bastard turns him into one of his blood slaves, or worse.::

“Dirk, is there any way you can check on them?” Mattie asked. “You must know where they are. You lived here. Lex trained you here.”

“Even if I did know, I wouldn’t go there,” Dirk replied. “If I arrived at the wrong time and broke their concentration, it could give Constantine the edge he needed to win.”

“Especially if he took over Dirk’s mind and body and used him against Lex,” Bay pointed out. “Could you kill your child without hesitation if that happened?”

Mattie shook her head. “I suppose not.”
