“Where?”

He shook his head. “I won’t tell you. Lex made me swear I wouldn’t reveal it to anyone.” He hurried to add, “Not that he doesn’t trust the team, but if any of you knew, and someone tried to get the information out of you. I hope you understand.”

Reni barely nodded. “I do.”

“Understand what?” Bay asked, joining them. Dirk explained and Bay said, “Lex is right. The fewer who know, the safer the place is.” He glanced down at the floor, barely smiling. “My guess, for what it’s worth, is that he had his own set of caverns. Or at least a large and very well protected room deepunderground. One he uses for training his students in battle magic, among other things.”

“How would Constantine be able to find it, if he does?” Reni asked, then answered her own question. “Lex invited him there, although invited probably isn’t the right word. When he sensed Constantine’s presence, he led him there while pretending he was fleeing from him.”
