CHAPTER FIVE (KUGAMA'S VICTORY)

The people became strong as the magic lamp started glowing.

The attackers came once again as they always do every two months but this time around the people of the Kugama kingdom were ready and waiting for them.

The king gave everyone a task and that was to protect their families while the soldiers protected them from the front lines because the people still didn't believe in the power they had.

The fight didn't take long to end, the soldiers assembled themselves and stood waiting for their attackers with only their swords.

Their enemies came with different weapons, swords, and spears and they were wearing thick metallic armor.

The soldiers of the Kugama kingdom were frightened when they saw so many weapons but the king encouraged them. As their enemies got nearer, the Kugama soldiers prepared to sing.

When they got in close range with the Kugama soldiers, the king started humming with his strong masculine voice like he saw Agu, the spirit whisperer do back in the carve.

He kept humming while matching forward but his soldiers became more frightened and ran backward when they saw one of the soldiers fling his sword at the king King Bajju dodged the sword and stabbed the attackers in his waist, his swiftness saved him.

King Bajju himself doubted the powers he had after this incident but he knew that if he showed any fear or doubt, the soldiers would not want to fight anymore.

From behind without the Kugama soldiers noticing, one of the attackers came and cut his sword through one of the kugama soldiers' stomachs. The loud cry alerted them and they all turned around but they were already surrounded by so many soldiers from the attacking side.

The battle became fierce as the Kugama soldiers struggled to save themselves from the strong mountain soldiers who kept striking their swords and spears at them.

In the chaos, King Bajju cried out in pain as he saw his soldiers dying. He blamed the gods and the Izagi for making him believe that he had the power to protect his people.

"Even my mother's spirit lied to me." The king said and wept, he fell to his knees and put his hands in the soil beneath his feet.

He looked up to the sky, fetched the sand in his hands, and with a scream in agony, he threw the sand up and it poured back down on his head.

As he screamed, a bright light burst out of his mouth and the light seemed to cover his body as it threw the enemies who tried to cut his head off away.

A soft ocean-like tone playing calmly in the distance, the wounded soldiers looked in that direction and saw the women and children of the Kugama kingdom coming towards them singing, the songs had no words, no lyrics but it was harmonious and pleasant to the ears heard it.

As they came nearer, the soldiers could see something like musical notes coming out of their mouths and flowing around them. The attacking soldiers froze as they looked at the singing Kugama people, their weapons fell out of their hands.

"It is indeed true, what Agu said was true. You can use the Etsako depending on the intentions you have. Look at how these fools have become powerless." King Bajju said aloud.

He picked up his sword from the ground. He turned around, his back facing his people and his eyes focused on his enemy. Quietly, he prayed to the gods to help him and then he started humming the tone from his heart.

Violin, piano, trumpet, saxophone, all these instruments were playing different tones but all added melody to the king's humming. They played invincibly but the sounds were so loud and clear.

The dust beneath all their feet started rising in respect to the music and the ground started shaking beneath the legs of their enemies.

King Bajju's voice became the most beautiful anyone had ever heard. The trees, the wind, and the dust respected him and obeyed the command of his heart.

They all rose and started attacking the Kugama enemies. The wind surrounded them so that they couldn't see, and the dust entered their eyes blinding almost all of them except for those who took precautions and covered their faces with their masks.

The trees turned into swords, spears, and axes and attacked them cutting some of their heads, their arms, their legs, and some stabbing right through their hearts.

It was a brutal sight as the Kugama people also joined their king in singing from their hearts, controlling the water, the flowers, and the grasses.

The war ended and it ended with the victory of the people of the Kugama kingdom and its king.

Drummers started beating their drums when they heard the victory song once again after so many years, they were happy to see that the gods favored them today and would continue to for a very long time.
