Chapter 11- Away From Home

Mono and Laura walked secretly through the halls, cautious. Mono walked in front of Laura, making sure she was safe. Out of nowhere, he grabbed and held her hand intertwining their fingers. Laura was startled by the unexpected action, but didn't say or do anything. They neared a room, but stopped in the hallway. Mono and Laura whispered.

Mono: There's a room on the end of this hallway. That's where he's at. *Looks to check

Mono: There are 6 bodyguards outside and 3 inside. We have about 12 minutes before the boss gets here. So lets try to hurry up and try to avoid the fight with him. *Laura nodded in agreement

Laura stepped out and without hesitation threw fire balls at them and started punching and --Low kicking them.(If you know what I mean) Mono came out and was shocked to find all 6 of them on the floor.

Mono: Okay first of all, you're fast. Second, why did you just go in?? We didn't even discuss the plan! You could've gotten injured.

Laura rolled her eyes again.

Laura: Yeah yeah I got it, I don't need a lecture. Just hurry up and lets go in.

Mono sighed and went on.

Mono: Alright this time, I'll go in.

Laura: Wait, there's 3 of them...and unless you also have powers I think I should help you.

Mono smirked.

Mono: It's true that I don't have powers, but I already told you about my skills. And relax, it's only 3 of them. This is easy don't worry. The only thing I would be worried about is that dangerous thing on top of your head.

Laura quickly tapped the top of her head, but didn't feel anything.

Mono laughed as he opened the door. Before he went in to fight, he yelled to Laura.

Mono: I was talking about your hair. It's really messy, take one look at it, and you could turn into stone. *He chuckled

Laura: You idiot, you're annoying!

Laura ran after him into the room. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. He was like an assassin or something, just attacking one guy after another. Soon, there was no one standing. Laura was shocked.

Mono: Should've taken my word for it. *He smirked.

Laura: Dude seriously, now?? Peka, hurry up and go get your brother before I beat you up.

Mono ran over to a bed and woke his sleeping brother up.

Mono: James! James wake up!

He shaked his brother and patted his cheeks. He slowly opened his eyes and was filled with joy when he saw his brother.

James: Hyung!

They hugged. Laura was touched.

Mono: James, this is Laura. She's helping us, so don't worry. Come on, lets go.

Laura: Hi! Nice to meet you. Your brother is a bit annoying to hang out with huh?

James: Oooh, I like her.

They laughed and quickly walked out of the room. They took a few turns here and there.

Laura: Which way next Mono?

Mono: I'm not sure, I don't think I've even been in this hallway before.

James: Brother...Are we going to die?

Mono: What? No, no, we're are not going to die, don't worry. I promise to protect you, no matter what.

James relaxed and smiled.

Laura: That reminds me! Mono, do you know where we are at??

Mono: What do you mean?

Laura: I mean like, what city or neighborhood or any specific location?

Mono: Hmm...I think it was, Oh! We're in East Palo Alto.

Laura: What??! You mean to tell me that I'm like 3 hours away from my home.

Mono rubbed his neck.

Mono: Yeah...See you were knocked out when they took you so...

Laura: Wow, well at least I know what city I'm in, but do you have anything more specific?

Mono: Besides that this is an old abandoned prison.

Laura nodded and took out her phone.

She texted the girls where she's at and also called the cops herself. It wasn't much information she could give, but it did lower down the places to look for the cops. They said there were at least 3 abandoned prisons in East Palo Alto, so they will send out teams to check them all out.

Afterwards, they continued walking forward.

Mono: Wait, this is the main office!

Laura: Which means..??

Mono: We're near the entrance!

Everyone got excited. They were walking forward when they made contact with the devil.

Jaws dropped, hands held tighter, breathing and nervousness increased.

Laura: No...

Mono: James, Laura, you two stay behind me.

Boss: Well, it's nice to see you 3. I'd say you guys came right on time!

Laura heard the same threatening voice from the Haunted House. She got more anxious.

Mono: Move aside Torique, we're leaving.

(Laura's thinking) Torique? I'm guessing that's the boss's name then.

Torique: I'm afraid not. See, you guys can't leave, I still have use for you all.

Mono: *Scoff-- I wasn't asking.

Torique must have serious anger issues because as soon as he heard that, he charged at Mono. Laura quickly stood in front and put up her wall of fire.

James: Woah....

Laura: Everyone move back!

Mono grabbed James and moved him.

In less than a second, she made an explosion causing Torique to fly back.

However, he stood quickly again and threw metal spikes at them. Mono dodged them and Laura used her fire to melt the ones that were coming at her and James.

Mono: Laura cover me! *He yelled through all the comotion

Laura shielded Mono, herself, and James all at the same time. It was difficult, but she was glad she had practiced with the girls. If they didn't, who knew what would be taking place right now.

Mono jumped in front of Torique and kicked him in the stomach. He was speedy and went on with his elbow hitting Torique's head. Torique groaned, but didn't back down. He returned with a punch and created(in less than 2 seconds) a small knife from metal and stabbed him.

Mono: Oah...

Laura couldn't believe that she had to see this situation for a second time.

Laura: No not again!

James: Hyung!!

Laura rushed to help, but was forced back when Torique created a metal wall between them.

Laura banged on the wall. She tried using her powers.

Laura: COME ON!! WORK! NOOO!!

Mono and Torique were holding the handle of the knife. Torique tried pulling it out and Mono was trying to hold it in. Mono seemed more afraid of what would happen if the knife was pulled.

Torique: It's too bad you won't be breathing any longer. I really did like you, you were very talented and a great fighter.

Mono: I'd rather die than work with you.

Mono spit out blood from his mouth.

Torique: Whatever you want.

With that, he pushed the knife more in.

Mono: AAAAAAAHHGGGGG!!!

Laura heard his scream. This made her more angrier and pushed herself to put more strength into her powers.

Laura: AAAAAAHHH! *Grunting

Finally the wall was brought down. She ran and tackled Torique. James ran over to his brother that was on the floor. Laura was filled with rage and nonstop fought with Torique as he fought back. Laura made Torique's face bleed with fresh, red blood. Torique stumbled back.

Torique: You're really strong.*Creepily chuckling

Laura turned and straight on kicked him right in the face. He fell down backwards and this time didn't come back up. Laura breathed heavily, so exhausted and glad the fight was over. She ran over to James and Mono. She could see that James had found a first aid kit and other materials he needed to help Mono. Laura was surprised.

James: I stopped his bleeding. He's fine for right now, but he needs to get to a hospital fast.

Laura: You did this all by yourself? *Smiling

James: I've always wanted to become a doctor and so I've done little practices, but this is my first time actually performing in a real life situation.

Laura: You are a smart, talented, and brave young man.

James: Thanks, I'm just happy he's okay.

They sighed with relief. Laura pulled James into a hug. After, they helped Mono up and walked outside. Laura saw the policemen on their way to them. She had completely forgotten about them. They all drove to the nearest hospital while another team of policemen went inside the building and arrested everyone in there.
