She turned to look at the people enjoying party behind her. Everybody laughing and chatting happily. Her eyes took in the scene- all indifferently. There was no emotion in those cold brown-grey eyes. Afterall she has nothing to do with any of these people- in her opinion ofcourse.
Actually, she just didn't find any need to be acquainted with them, more specifically she was avoiding them, so she doesn't become close to anybody here.
Zzz, zzz.
Her phone on the booth vibrated and she turned her head.
"Hello"
Though she said it indifferently, her sweet and soft voice made up for the lack of emotion.
- Niharika, were you included in Samiksha's recent project?
"Yes."
The man on opposite end didn't feel any less respect because of such short response. He was well aware of kind of person he was talking to.
- Samiksha was diagnosed to be 3 months pregnant today. Her family refused to let her travel, more so for taking any stress. Will you be able to replace her?
"I'm working with California team."
- It's all right, we can postpone it for a little while.
"Alright, when do I need to depart?"
- I'm sending you the details but you gotta hurry up. Ah right, get the documents from Samiksha first. Don't come to office, ask Manin, he'll get them for you. Otherwise you'll get stuck in traffic here.
"Alright, please send Manin to Samiksha's office then."
- Don't worry about that. See you later.
She hung up and looked back again. This time though her eyes had liveliness. She found the man almost instantly, one she was looking for.
She looked at the man whose one arm was being held by an equally beautiful lady. They both were chatting about something with another couple.
She didn't feel right to disturb the group so she just messaged him about her urgent departure, while walking away from the party hall.
The man on other hand, received the message. The customised tone sounded and he instantly knew, whose message has come. He took out his phone, but had an inkling about what might be its content and he was right.
< Gotta go. - Niharika>
The message just informed him about her departure. No reason mentioned whatsoever. But he knew, there could be only one reason - her work. Afterall his wife is a true workaholic.
The woman holding his arm, turned to him and saw the man chuckling silently.
"Suyash, what happened?"
"Nothing. Niharika just went back."
"Why, did she feel bored?" She asked as she checked his expression turning normal. A bit of envy reflected in her eyes.
"No, must be work related reason."
Both of them turned towards bar counter. One stool was turned but no one was sitting there anymore.
"She should've just told us directly instead of messaging. I always feel like she's avoiding people here."
"Well, I think she'd have thought that she might be disturbing us, Krisha."
"What disturbance? Everybody here tried including her and wanted to know her, nobody would think that she is disturbing anybody here," said Niti, the woman who was chatting with Suyash and Krisha.
"Krisha, didn't you say she came with you guys. How'd she go back then?"
"Oh that's not an issue", said Krisha lightly.
