Chapter 9: Roses of Life

After the success of my second mission, we got a small celebration. We spend time together for my success. It’s not easy to pass the test but with the support of my family, friends and the whole kingdom, it leads me to where I am right now.

“Whoah! The second mission gave me goosebumps. As we watched you Your Highness, we felt the pressured at the same time the excitement of what should be the result at the end.”

“I feel as well that the second mission is hard but thank Heaven’s you made it successfully, Your Highness. We’re proud of you.”

“Thank you.” I said it in a low voice.

“Are you alright, Your Highness?”

“Yes. I’m just tired.”

“Oh!”

I heard one of the guards murmuring. “Because his other half was not present during the second mission.”

“I heard you.” The royal guard pale. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it, Your Highness.”

“It’s alright.”

Heneral Melchor cleared his throat. “Your highness, you’re tired. Take a rest.”

“You’re right.” I stood up. “I’m sorry that I can’t be with you. I can’t stay too long. Enjoy the rest of the day.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

I nodded and left. I go straight to my tent.

“Congratulations, Your Highness.”

I feel like I’m going to die of shock. “I’m sorry if I startled you.”

“It’s alright. I just surprise that you’re here.”

“I will not stay for too long. Don’t worry as well no one can heard us if that’s what’s your concern. I void it using my power. All our conversations are just the two of us.”

“It’s a relieve though.”

I sat on the bed. “Did you eat?”

“Yes. I…… just came here to say congratulations. You did well in your second mission.”

“Thank you. I thought as well that you are not there.”

“I promise remember? A promise is a promise. So, I’ll be there watching you finished successfully all your missions. And there’s one left and I know you can make it.”

“Can you sit here beside me?” she raised her eyebrow but later on she followed what I said.

“Why?” She looked at me. I looked at her with equal gaze. “Is there something in my face?” She asked. I touched her cheek. “No, you’re just beautiful.”

She smiled. “I….” I hugged her. “I miss you.”

We feel each other heartbeat. We feel the strong desire. Our connection.

She first let go of the hug. “I need to go. Congratulations again, Your Highness.” With that, she disappeared.

I smiled. I think I can’t sleep because of the hug. My girl is cute and adorable. I think I’m crazy. Crazy because of her.

“Good morning your highness!”

“Good morning too Heneral Melchor.” I sat in front of him. We’re having breakfast right now. “How’s everyone?”

“It’s fine your highness. Felix went to Arendelle to see the town’s festivities. I heard they have plenty of games and sports offer and oh, a lot of food.”

“Is Felix interested in sports?”

“Yeah, he loves sports that’s why he went there.”

“He didn’t joined any sports?”

“No, your highness.”

“Why?”

“Good morning your highness!” Mr. Rolando, he hold a big fish and served it on the table.

“Here, your highness, taste it. It’s delicious.”

“Thank you.”

He just smiled. “By the way Mr. Rolando, Felix love sports. Why he didn’t joined any sports in Arendelle?”

He sat beside me and drink his water. Heneral Melchor cleared his throat. “Your highness…… “ Mr. Rolando cut off of what he said. “I didn’t want to because I don’t like my son will go another accident.”

I closed my eyes. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean it.”

“It’s alright your highness. I understand.”

“Yes, my son wants to joined fencing. That is his favorite sport. But because of what happens in the past, I didn’t allowed him again to join.”

“I understand Mr. Rolando. I didn’t know. I may not know the details of the accident but I respect in your decision with regards to your son. After all, you do what’s best for him.”

“Thank you, Your Highness.”

“What matter’s most Mr. Rolando is your son understands it.” Heneral Melchor said smiling.

Mr. Rolando nodded. We continue eating. “Cheer’s.”

“Papa? Papa, where are you?” Felix runs to us scared just like he seeing ghost or something.

“What’s the rush, son?”

“Papa, we need to hurry now. Let’s go to Arendelle. Something happened.”

“What? What happened in Arendelle?” I asked

“Your Highness, there’s a food poison.”

“Food poison?”

“Yeah. We need to hurry now.”

“Quick, let’s go to the carriage.”

I heard Heneral Melchor gave instructions to the guards. After that, he followed us.

“Your highness, relax. Everything will be alright.”

“Mr. Rolando, my people, why is it happening?”

“Your Highness, we will catch the culprit. Don’t worry. Whoever he is, he will pay for it.”

“Yeah, he gonna pay for it.”

After a fast long ride, we arrived at Arendelle. I saw people panic and didn’t know where to go. I use my power to arrive directly at the venue’s festivities.

“Eurylice?”

“Your highness, it’s good to see you but hurry we need to stop spreading the poison.”

“What happened to them?”

“Food poison.”

“Who’s the culprit?”

“My cousin is after him. The criminal is headed to Ashmire.”

“Heneral Melchor catch the culprit. He is headed to Ashmire.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

“I can’t heal them. Even if I have a healing power, I can’t heal them.”

“You have a healing power. You’re really amazing.”

“Yes, I have your highness. But I can’t heal them.”

“Why?”

“Everyone, please continue the festivities. I assure you they will be fine. I promise.”

“Please stop crying ma’am, your daughter will be safe. I promise.”

“Everyone follow what she said.”

Mr. Rolando said loud and clear. “Follow Prince Aldrich order.” With that they back on the festivities.

“What’s the reason why you cannot heal them?”

“The poison they used is a poison used in ancient times. Only Roses of Life can save them.”

“To add, the palace is too far from here in Arendelle, the Roses of Life is in the palace. If we can’t make it, they all gonna die if we don’t have the roses of life.”

I couldn’t believe it. How did she know that there’s a Roses of Life in the palace? I ask her later.

“I have it.”

“You do?”

“Here it is.”

She smiled. “I didn’t know that the roses you bring is the Roses of Life. I thought it’s just ordinary roses.”

“No. This roses is the roses of life. Now, let’s save them.” She nodded.

I used my power to make a shelter to the victims so that they will not expose from the heat of the sun. Eurylice is using her power to stop the poison from running to all parts of the body’s victim. They are all 23 victims suffered a food poison. Some of them are mostly children.

“Do you know the formula?” Eurylice asked.

“Yes.”

“Make it work faster. We rely on you, your highness.”

I didn’t respond. I just concentrate in making the formula to produce an antidote. This antidote who made from the Roses of Life can save the victims from food poisoning.

After almost 30 minutes, I done making the antidote.

“Eurylice, it’s here.”

“Alright. Thank God. Now, save them.”

With the help of Mr. Rolando and Felix, I manage to gave the antidote to the victims. I found relieve when they faces back to normal. I save them. We saved them.

“Your highness, they are all fine. They breathing are back to normal. They are safe now.”

“Thank God.”

“Thank you your highness.”

“You’re all welcome!”

“Now, go to your family. They are all waiting for you.”

“I wonder why there is no doctors came to this incident. They should be here.”

“The doctors are not here your highness. They are all in the palace. They having a meeting. They’ll be back this afternoon.”

“Meeting? I didn’t know that.”

“Maybe you forgot, your highness. In every third week of the month, a meeting was held in the palace.”

“I’m sorry, you’re right. Today is Friday, and it’s third week of the month, I forgot that the doctors, hospitals staff are having a meeting.”

“I know for sure that the news about the food poison are spread now to the palace.”

“Yeah, the criminal is gonna pay for it. I know he will be caught for sure.”

“Eurylice…..” I managed to caught her in my arms before she fall.

“Eurylice…. Eurylice….”

“I think she’s exhausted your highness. She needs to rest.”

“Let’s go back to Mount Olibo.”

“Yes, your highness.”
