Introduction

I fell in love with my best friend. My best friend who knew everything about me. We spent nearly every day together and we did everything together. We were the type of friends to flirt, but not date. He knew my fear of water and he knew I loved chocolate. He always dropped what he was doing for me and I did the same for him, but he didn't know that I loved him. That was the only secret I kept from him.

My parents vanished one day when they went on a cruise, so I lived with my aunt and uncle. The whole cruise vanished and there were no survivors. When I turned 16 years-old, my aunt and uncle started acting strange. They told me to never go into the ocean even though we lived less than 10 minutes away from it. I hated bodies of water anyway, even though when I looked out at the waves, I felt calm and safe. I thought their worries were just them being safe and protective. When I turned 17, they seemed to calm down but were still on edge. Now, I am close to turning 18. A senior in high school. My aunt and uncle began to worry again when I started getting sick. I couldn't help but wonder, Are they hiding something?
