Apollo gave Charon his coins and followed Hermès onto the gruesome looking boat. He slid his way passed the many souls until they found what looked an unoccupied bench that they sat on.

"Charon's boat had become bigger and mightier over the the millennia," Hermès explained, "to accommodate for the rising number of the dead. Hades' kingdom grows larger and more powerful every year."

"Then it's true what they say, eventually everyone goes to serve Hades. The world has always been his."

When the boat was full, Charon floated to the front of the boat and picked his ore. Before walking back to the back of the bout to start paddling, he looked at the two gods, "try not to fall into the river, you will not be able to get out."

Apollo looked out the boat into the water and gulped. The water was as black as night, only illuminated by the souls squirming and waving their arms in an attempt to swim or get out. The fate of mortals was truly gruesome indeed.
