Chapter 147: A New Orbment

LUC was the biggest change with the stat readjustment. I have limited LUC to a cap of 100. 100/100 being the luckiest guy on the continent, while 50/100 is better than your average Joe and people at Casinos may start growing suspicious of you.

I have not personally tested to see if the other stats can go above 9999 in the games, but down the line that may end up happening.

I have made a fun 6969 ATS build in Reverie before for the fun of it.

As Tamamo continued to snooze away on the bed, I couldn't help but suck in some cold air as I saw a holographic blue panel in my vision before me.

Quite a few adventurous years have passed since I've first seen my stats for the first couple of times. I have not slacked in training my skills over the years. To say the least, I can be safe to say that I've met the qualifications to partake in the Vermillion Trials. Aside from activating the trial ground and defeating that Magic Knight, the last requirement was to attain Level 100.

As to where that placed me in the games, it's basically the end of SC and first third of Sky the 3rd. Likewise, around the end of cold steel 2. But thanks to the ridiculousness that happened on Nemeth Island, it wouldn't be farfetched to say I would be on par with Lv140 or Lv150 monsters. As far as the games went, the level cap reached 250, I am not sure if it would ever reach beyond that.

Titles can be quite broken, and the Blessings are having some impact as well. Overall, I'm still only thirteen years old, but I can say this growth is exceptional. I still have the coming years as well.

It's only three years if I decide to debut into high society too. I'm not not sure if I should get acquainted with those nobles... But those that I know like Princess Alfin would surely be disappointed if I don't, right?

Elise is a bona-fide noble too, despite just being part of a Barony. I know how much of a thorny path that is if I'm to spend more time with Elise though, considering how much of a bro-con Rean is. Despite such a thing, Elise's Favorability did unlock, so there's a chance, right? It was quite sad in the games to see Elise's love go unrequited. I know I have that mission to do right now, but perhaps there will be more chances to spend time together. I still remember that she didn't deny a headpat from me, haha.

Hell, even Angelica is set to debut in high society in two years. Though she was originally pretty rebellious at her father for wanting Angelica to do that in the games. The culmination of that led to that father-daughter duel.

But with how things are going, I wonder if Angelica will take this matter more seriously this time? We have yet to announce our relationship to the other nobles either. I bet she'll want to start one-upping the other nobles sooner or later. I can only imagine a bunch of chaos will ensue then.

But I digress. The focus I had for the present were those reward boxes I have been piling up. The count is close to 100, but I have about 85 loot boxes to open up. If there was a thing to mention, it was a surprise for the Gamer System to reward Master Quartz.

Knowing that, I decided to will my status screen away for the moment.

Opening my Inventory, I decided to pull out a certain combat orbment, which was mine of course. It had finally made its back in my possession. I could have stored it in my Inventory, but the DG Cult was full of the unknown, and I didn't want to take any chances with it being taken away. Such a thing did not happen thankfully, but Elie still safekept it for me during that time. It was a surprise for Kevin to return it.

I did see both Kevin and Elie on that airship in the northern waters in Calvard during that trip...

I wonder if that had more of an implication than at first glance? Elie's been kind of off the grid since she's started her schooling in Arteria...

Maybe I'm overthinking it. There's no way Elie would pull a Gaius and join the Church right?

I quickly shook my head sending that thought away. I focused on the special orbment before me now. This combat orbment was passed down from my Mother. Combat Orbments didn't exist back when the Phoenix House was still active during the War of the Lions, so she likely had it made in secret, likely for

self protection. It seemed to be a second generation too. It wasn't a standard issue either. It had a custom azure-purple plate with white specks. A fancy phoenix insignia could be seen on the backside of it, but overall, it appeared to be a fancy pocket watch on the outside.

But that was far from what these guys actually were. These orbments could help a normal person activate Arts, which is the closest one could get to the use of Magic. For those who don't realize that Magic exists. On top of that, they can provide a doping effect, increasing stats of one's choosing, depending on their choice. They could increase their strength, their stamina, their health, even their agility. A wide variety of effects, to say the least.

Orbal workshops exist all throughout the land to help make these Orbments. Despite mostly being orientated for combat, other orbal devices can be seen in use in daily life. The Orbal Revolution a little over forty years ago truly was a miracle worker.

This energy can also help create larger constructs with ease as well. Unlike my past life, giant dolls and mechs do exist, which was a big fun part of playing the games. Hopefully I'll get my own soon, after partaking in the Vermillion Trial.

Thinking that, I opened this watch-like device, only to see several crevices inside. One main slot which was the first slot to slot an Orbment of any kind. It then created a loop counter-clockwise. These are called Lines, and depending on the user, they could have more Lines. These Lines affected what types of Quartz one could slot into it. Various ailments could be inflicted, which could only come from a single Line. The more Lines a person has, the more ailments they could inflict, since it was limited to one type of ailment per Line. And boy did Trails have a lot of ailments and status effects one could inflict.

As for mine in particular, I could see a long singular Line going all the way around the center, sporting seven Slots. One singular Line stuck out from the center, not extending into the other Line. It pointed the other way. This sole Line was colored yellow. As for the other Line that had seven slots excluding its center for a total of eight, its third and sixth positions were colored blue and red respectively. I had a tri-colored Combat Orbment.

Having colors is a whole other matter, but to put it simply, only one element can slot into its color. Water is blue, Fire is red, and so on.

Seeing this, all slots were currently empty. I had a look at the center slot again, and sure enough, it was the same size as the others. It wasn't doubled or tripled in size. Which meant the Master Quartz boxes served no use at this time. It was a shame, but I couldn't help but reveal a playful smile thinking that.

I mean, THE Professor Schmidt currently owes me a favor. I think you can put two to two together. I decided to immediately use it.

In my own time after that call with Tio, I connected to Crossbell's Branch again, as that was the method of contact Professor Schmidt gave me. I explained to him if he had any fourth or third or fourth generation combat orbments. He was surprised for me to ask about it, but he provided the knowledge I needed to hear. It turns out the designs for the third generation were already complete and in the testing phase and prototypes were already starting for the fourth generation.

It was the fourth generation that introduced the Master Quartz slot...The Enigma II's.

Seeing that Professor Schmidt owed me a favor, I asked to see if it was possible to upgrade my inherited device. He was in turn surprised to learn about such a device, but didn't deny the possibility. He could not fly here at present though to upgrade it, so I suggested the next best thing, to reach out to another of a similar mind.

The moment I uttered that name to him, he groaned, but didn't deny my request. I wanted to make use of these boxes sooner than later so it looks like I was set to get my hands on an Enigma II sooner than later. Professor Schmidt worked his magic, and now a certain someone is on their way to Grancel Castle as we speak.

With that thought aside, I closed the orbment device I had, and placed it off to my desk, as it may get used after opening these boxes. But before I started to reach into my Inventory to grab them, I looked over at a cute little six-tailed silver fox, still sleeping peacefully on the bed without a care in the world. It was well into the morning now.

"Since when are you going to continue your napping, Tama? You really like to sleep a lot, don't you?", I decided to ask Tamamo as I approached the bed again.

"Just five more minutes...Master...", A small voice suddenly said, which caused me to come to a sudden halt. This voice came straight from the mouth of the little fox who was still trying to sleep.

Shock appeared in my eyes hearing this voice for the first time, I couldn't find words for a moment. It seemed the fox finally realized the voice that just spoke out too, and Tamamo suddenly opened her eyes, and stared right back at me, before using her paws, placing them over her mouth.

"That was supposed to be a surprise! Oh Big Sister is going to be so angry...", Tamamo retorted as she felt shame sweep across her eyes. I couldn't help but blink again hearing that voice come from Tamamo.

"...Was that really you, Tama?", I asked, still surprised as I looked at the silver fox.
