A Fire of Magic

A young sorceress, Alyssa Sharr, is in search of her parents and battles with monsters, demons, and wizards alike to discover all she can about her past. As she searches across the many realms acquiring clues and information that will aid her in her search, a series of attacks redirect her attention to find out who is trying to kill her. She comes across new friends and allies while her enemies attempt to stop her. With each step she takes and each piece of new information she gets, Alyssa comes to discover that she has stumbled across something far more dangerous and complex than a search for her parents, or a simple assassin wanting her dead. Chapter 23: Dust, Dirt and Danger

As the giant worm lunged at Markus and Derek, both of them leapt out of the way. Once the cloud of dust cleared Markus aimed his crossbow at the creature and fired, but the bolt just bounced off the tan, scaly skin. The worm then glared angrily at Markus with it’s three eyes and then lunged at him, which he was narrowly able to avoid and then regroup with Derek.

“I suppose the only advantage we have going for us right now, is that this creature is slow.” Derek pointed out. As the worm turned to face them.

“Any thoughts, on how we are going to kill it?” Markus asked as he reloaded his crossbow.

“Well, the person to ask is lying unconscious over there; I personally have no idea, but they say to always go for the soft spots.” Derek said uneasily as he gazed at the giant worm now facing the two of them and slowly making its way towards where they were standing. Careful to not to spook it into lunging again, the two men slowly backed away from it.
