Chapter 19: The Fallen Fortress
The Book of Drund felt heavier than it looked as Alyssa picked it up. She then flung the large orbiting sphere of burning white light at the approaching forces, and upon impact it burst scattering its brilliant light everywhere. The soldiers began running away, while the two cloaked figures began burning, screaming fiercely as they did so until nothing but ashes was left. Alyssa felt more than satisfied upon seeing that, hoped that would mark the end of their relentless pursuit of herself and her friends.
As she turned to assist Derek the fortress began to shake violently. Parts of the structure began breaking down, and soon it became obvious that the entire building was going to collapse imminently.
“An exit would be a good idea right about now!” Derek shouted as he flung Markus over his shoulder.
