Chapter 1 (test)

Around a week has passed since we got fucked over. After we arrived back home on the same day we were supposed to have a week-long trip in the mountains. We arrived in town with no human inhabitants. Just us high school students that had come back. It was a bit nerve-racking when it all started. Everyone was in a rush to the biggest supermarket to start looting. Many realized certain things that didn't work like the internet was down and we couldn't connect to anything other than each other. It all went to shit fairly quickly in my opinion. We had our first death on our second day, one of the volunteers for the exploration. They couldn't even find anything yet still lost a member. After that loss, everything slowed down for a bit.

That is until today.

I headed toward the town gazebo. It was a gathering area for many that sought company. I needed such an environment to be able to study.

As everyone was doing their own thing I had my headphones on listening to music in transparency mode to hear the laughter and screaming around me. It always seemed to make me able to study or focus better. The chaotic mixture between music, my reading, and the surrounding mixture of noises.

However, I was quickly brought out of my focused state as the already gloomy day seemed to gloom even more. Everyone turned their focus toward the sky as what seemed to be a solar eclipse formed.

"We asked for a sign!" "What does it mean?" Two of the people who were meditating stated

"It doesn't mean anything! It's not a sign, it's a predictable astronomical event. Just don't stare at it and we'll be fine." Gordie, a friend/acquaintance of mine said.

Well, that ruined my study environment. As everyone witnessed the event finishing they disbanded from the town center. So I quickly headed back to my house myself. As I arrived at the front gate of my land I found something out of place. It wasn't the most obvious change but I knew something had changed. I had always kept everything the same as it was before ever since my father had left me his inheritance which included my house, the family businesses, and all our wealth.

Back to the point. I saw something different inside the storage unit beside my house. My daily car, a Prius, was missing. However, as I approached the storage unit I found that was not the only thing different. As there was now a hole there that wasn't there before. A hole that had stairs leading down.

The hole gave off a mysterious, scary, and dangerous vibe. But I couldn't help myself. My curiosity was getting the best of me. What was this hole that had sprouted out of nowhere and what did it lead to? But as the thought couldn't escape my mind I recalled something "Curiosity killed the cat." So I quickly prepared myself. I went to my safe and got a pistol and two loaded magazines. I also got a sharpened sword my father had resting in his office. He always called it a decoration yet showed me how he could cut many things with the techniques learned through his ninjutsu training and without it. Something he wished I learned a little more diligently.

As I get back I notice something I didn't seem to notice the first time. A metal plate near the beginning of the stairs. It looked a bit dirty from the dirt but I saw something that seemed to look like a button. As I click it the plate shines brightly and the plate slowly floats toward my chest shortly after it disappears.

"Wait, what? How did that…?" I was at a loss for words. How did it shine? How did it disappear inside of me?

However, as I was questioning everything a display showed up in front of me. A status so it seemed. It stated the following:

Name: Ricardo Herrera

Level:1

HP:145/145

MP:150/150

Strength:9

Agility:9

Intelligence:10

Luck:20

Points:5

"Holy fuck I have stats just like a game!" I couldn't help but say excitedly.

'Skills!' I exclaim.

Gamers Body: Max LvL

Congrats on finding the FIRST Dungeon

Choose your reward

Choose one perk for getting to level 1

-Double Stat points, 10 instead of 5

-New Skill or Skill level up every 5 levels instead of every 10

Double stat points for sure. Although my luck seems good since it's the highest stat I don't know if all the skills I get will be good or if I level up good or useless skills. So it wasn't worth the risk. As well as the fact that basic stats will also be better in my own opinion.

Points:10

Looking at the new points I had in possession I quickly allocated them. 6 to agility and 4 to strength.

As I reached for my handgun I instantly felt a difference at how quick my hand moved. Then holding it in my hand although wasn't heavy to me before I now did not feel it at all.

As soon as I finished readying myself I headed down. Reaching the bottom of the stairs I quickly notice a monster standing in the narrow road. As I analyzed it I couldn't help but notice the similarities that the monster had with some of the manga I had read before. The monster in front of me was a goblin.

As if sensing someone attentively watching it the goblin quickly noticed me and rushed me. *KIEKKKK*

Quickly drawing my handgun I take aim and fire *CRACK*. As the explosive sound rings in the cave my focus falters. My ears start ringing and the last thing I hear is the screams of multiple goblins before the sound of my surroundings disappears and a group of goblins turn a corner and run toward me.

Not trying to get injured in my first dungeon dive I quickly ran up the steps that I was not far from and started shooting toward the group of goblins. I knew I was helping myself any more than I had already but there were 5 rushing at me and I didn't want to take any risk. After 3 shots the last 2 goblins had come into CQC distance. Readying my katana I quickly got myself into my defensive/counterattack stance. As the first goblin approached swinging wildly toward me with its club I quickly tried parrying it.

What else can I say except that I'm a moron. As I cleanly sliced the goblins club it's momentum had thankfully fucked it over as I sliced its forehead deep enough for it to pour out blood and quickly die soon right after.

Seeing the pop-up right in front of me couldn't have been the worst thing to happen to me as the last goblin had already gotten super close to me and swung its club as well. This time however I wasn't as lucky. Although I had sliced its club it didn't get a major injury on the goblin and I had gotten hurt. That didn't stop me however from quickly slicing its head off causing blood to spray out like a fountain.

Quickly getting myself off the goblin I find a wall to rest on. `I guess the pistol was a dud. Not only did it take my hearing for a while, it called over other nearby goblins.' After I finished calming myself I was ready to head down again. This time however I had my sword ready and knew what to expect if even just a little.

You have Leveled Up!

"Status."

LvL: 5

HP:170/170

MP:150/150

Str:14

Agi:16

Int:10

Luck:20

Points: 40

"Holy fuck. In just an hour I only leveled up 4 times yet I have a whole 40 points to get better." I can't help but exclaim. 'I should save my points though.' I had found out I can raise my stats by doing exercises that work out whatever stat I want to raise.

Heading back home for rest I couldn't be more excited. Although I wasn't physically tired I just wanted to relax. Once I checked my phone I knew where I was gonna go to relax. Getting into my car I quickly head over to the church. Helena had invited me over to church. She was gonna host a church session and wanted to see if I could come and attend. Attending was the least I could do for her.

Arriving inside the church I don't see many people sitting. I also see Helena up on the stage giving God's word. I can't help but stare. I always did have a crush on her. As I get lost in thought I stop thinking about her and all my fleeting thoughts leave me as I listen to what she is saying.

This however doesn't last long because Helena's boyfriend, Luke, and his football buddies come in. I couldn't help but be disgusted because of the smell that came in along with them. The smell of booze and sweat was radiating off of them. As I looked around I also noticed a few people had left, yet Helena was not demotivated at all. I couldn't help but admire her dedication.

It didn't take long for the church session to finish.

"Hey, Helena. Sorry, I came late. I was occupied with something for a while." I told her as I walked up to her with her boyfriend and his entourage following behind.

"Don't worry about that Ricky I'm glad that you could make it at least."

"What could keep the neighborhood genius occupied for so long?" Luke asked in a sarcastic tone.

"Not anything you would understand that's for sure. But hey Helena I'm glad you started doing this. Let me know when you will be doing this again. It helped me calm down a bit."

"Come on don't be like that. But I'm glad you enjoyed attending this. I plan on doing this more often." She says thankfully.

"Alright well, I'll see you later," I say as I turn to head to the exit.

"Hey Ricky! We're having a game of Fugitive you should come." Griz says.

"I'm good Griz thanks for the invite though."

As I'm done with that I head over to the market to set myself for the next few weeks. Arriving at the store I start getting an idea of what I might need. Deciding on what ima get I quickly get the ingredients im gonna need. However, I was stopped by a duo.
