Chapter 14: It Was Too Late.

Oscar Sebastian. Chairman of the Lazslo Corporation. Contact no. XXXXXXX. Victoria stood frozen there. Sebastian... Oscar Sebastian, the infamous son of the chairman of the Lazslo corporation that she had heard so much about.

When she was still with her family, she heard a lot about him. They belonged to the upper class so the girls there always talked about who is handsome and who is this and that. The one who was most famous among the ladies was Oscar Sebastian. The sole heir to the Lazslo Corporation was born with brooming talents.

He was also famous because of his reserved personality. He wasn't actually reserved but he didn't like to be around fake people. Fake people mean people with double faces. He was also very famous for not having any girlfriends or flings even after being the young master of the wealthiest family in the country.

Knowing his identity, Victoria was sure of some things. First, he probably wasn't after her for some information or such type of things because she knew very well about the capabilities of the chairman of the Lazslo Corporation. Second, she understood how he knew so much about her and third, there could only be one reason for him to come after her.

Either he finds her like some challenge to overcome or either he really likes her. But of course, she didn't or rather couldn't believe in the latter. So in the end, she comes to the conclusion that he was after her because he finds it challenging to make her fall in love or to make her vulnerable. It was not a secret that she hated men. If anyone digs into her they would know.

Moreover, in the past few years since she becomes a lawyer, there were many rumours about how harshly she rejected the ones who come after her. So those arrogant young masters must have found her a challenge and come after her. They may even have bet on who would be able to break her down but she was one hell of a woman. Breaking her down was impossible.

For Victoria, if by chance she did get into a relationship or was forced into a relationship, she swore since before she completed her graduation that she would never ever shed a single tear because of any man.

But you never know what the future might bring you. The most mysterious and unstable thing in this world is our future. You may be alive today but dead tomorrow. You may be together today but alone tomorrow. You may be friends or even lovers today but an enemy tomorrow. Life is a really hard one. You couldn't hate it but you couldn't always love it or go on with whatever it brings. Just like how it was for her.

Victoria felt her head pain. She put down her hand and looked at Hailey who was also surprised by the events. Jan wasn't there as she went out for something. She said.

" Hailey, you can go home. I will also leave after some time. If you want, I can drop you."

Hailey was quite flustered to witness such a situation. She knew she should leave Victoria alone for now. Therefore, she quickly said.

" No, No! Sister Victoria. I will leave on my own. I have my scooter with me. I will just go back. You also go back home soon. Don't stay up too late. Bye~" Hailey said as she picked up her things. Then she went out.

After Hailey went out, the office becomes really silent. Only the voice of the clock was ringing there. Victoria looked at her reflection in the frame of the Quote ' Justice delayed is the justice denayed.'

After a long time, Victoria moved and closed the lights in the hall. She also picked up the gift he left on the table. Only the light from her office was on. She walked back to her office and sat down on the chair.

She wasn't actually disturbed by Oscar but she was disturbed by his identity and the memories that come with it. It made her recall her past that she usually never recalls. Suddenly, she began missing her family. Her mother...

After some time, she packed up and left her office. After arriving home, she had a simple dinner and then she took a bath. As she lay on her bed, Victoria couldn't sleep. She was already having a hard time forgetting about her family but now it was all coming back.

Most importantly, tomorrow was her birthday which she had forgotten. However, the sudden appearance of Oscar made her remember it all. She still remembered how exciting and enjoyable her birthdays were. How she would demand some specific gifts from her family which would give them a headache despite being so wealthy.

She didn't keep herself updated on her family. Rather, she didn't see them or heard about them since she had run away from home. She guessed that her brother may have already started taking over the company. He must have matured quite a lot. She still remembered the night when they had a conversation.

Mike told her to get engaged if she didn't have any valid reason to reject. She wasn't happy that she couldn't leave them on good terms. She had a cold war with her father, a silent treatment with her brother and she made her mother get all tensed up in between her affairs. Well, she couldn't do anything about that now. It was too late for that.
